It's unfortunate Animal never got a proper sendoff on his second run in the WWE. Road Warrior Animal was originally scheduled to be the man to win the Interpromotional Battle Royal at WrestleMania 22 (which was in his hometown btw). I believe this would've led straight into a nice run on SmackDown for the US Championship as The Road Warrior.
