I did months of art research on David LaChapelle. His style is amazing and so inspiring to me. I esp love the stuff he did in the 90s.
Nuff respect to his success...considering the obstacles of a young person with no high school education, etc,

I knew who LaChapelle was and I STILL read it "David Chappelle" in my head and got all excited. -__-' lol
Where is the logic behind clicking a video and misreading the title and then rating it down because of your mistake? Vice interviewed a great not to mention very well known photographer why insult them?
Maybe it's because I grew up in the 90's ... but I didn't know that at this point, you could know anything about pop culture and be unfamiliar with David LaChapelle - Especially since he probably took most of your favorite photos in magazines. I can't believe so many Dave Chapelle fans came and left instantaneously - subscribers of VICE seems as though they'd appreciate the story of a man whose vision is out of the ordinary. Ah well, just another reason I don't at all relate to my peers.

David LaChapelle is one of the most famous photographers in the world. He's directed countless of music videos and has shot everyone from Tori Amos to Bjork to Aaliyah and Tupac. Get with it, people, Jesus.

I had a class mate from Fashion Photography class ( my instructor was a former assistant to Richard Avedon ) back in 2000, who was an assistant to David LaChapelle. Not sure where he ( and David ) is now I was shown a photograph of behind the scene of a photo shoot set. It was a milk filled bath tub on b&w checkered board tiles. I was blown away. His style is fantasy, futuristic, with an Alice in Wonderland, dreamlike mystique. Now, the only memory I have is the portrait I took of that good looking, shirtless classmate

Wow!! I didn't know who David LaChapelle was til now..(I know, I've been living a rock right?) But seeing his work fkr the first time has been a wonderful eye opening experience to such beautiful side of photography and art. He has such an incredible talent of helping us look at things in a different way than we would. Such a cliche' to say, but his work inspires me! I love it!!! :)

Dave Chappelle lives on a farm somewhere in the midwest, illinois I think. he was only in africa for a few months.
