Exactly. IMO a lot of the old "artificial" electronic music can transport emotions BETTER than nowadays uniform singer-songwriter mashup. It's simply because a synthesizer has a bigger bandwidth than just a guitar. It generally offers more possibilities to the artist and doesn't unnecessarily limit itself in order to be "real".
This masterpiece actually is one fine example of wonderful symbiosis of diverse electronic and acoustic musical instruments: the domination of evolving mighty analogue synthesizer mono-bassline, leads and resonant chords, perfectly backed by the rhytmic acoustic guitar chord riffs (played also by William Orbit) and finally crownded with orchestral strings (arranged by Craig Armstrong).

They made celestial magic out of 1 basic and very cliché 4 chord progression. There's SO MUCH magic going on around it (paired with Madonna's soft vocals), that you forget it's really just 4 very basic chords.
