Tax when you work; tax when you buy a home; tax when you sell a home; tax when you buy necessities and grocery; tax more on gas, vehicles and alcohol; tax when you invest with money already taxed then tax again when you sell your investment; tax when you start a business; tax when you sell products or provide services; tax when you buy medicines or use medical services like dental that provincial health plans don't cover; tax when you die. Almost all expenses including food and shelters and travels politicians get them all paid by Canadians. Corrupt Canadian political and tax systems.

I'm in Quebec and for my pretty average salary, if I add Federal Income tax (20.5%), Provincial income tax (19%) and sales tax (14.975%), that totals 54.5% of my salary that goes to the government. For every 100$ I make, I can buy for 45.50$ worth of stuff...... And that doesn't take into consideration the other taxes that are applied on the things you buy with this 45.50$! Like gas prices that are much higher because of the who knows how many taxes in there... Or if you own a home, well you have to use that 45.50$ to pay more taxes... or a ton of interest... makes you wonder what's the point.

@@tommcd8471 Yeah but your wages are probably worth far more overall in actual purchasing power. Keep in mind that the minimum wage here in BC is like $17/hour now. The dollar is essentially worth like half as much as it was a decade ago, so even a $22/hour job is roughly equivalent to a $11/hour job a decade ago. A quick google search says minimum wage in Germany is 12.41 EUR/hour ($18.20/hour CAD). I'm not sure how far that goes in terms of buying commodities though. I mean, renting a bachelor apartment alone in Canada is anywhere between $900-1700, depending where.

People working in government are not the bosses, they're the employees. If any business had any employee that spent more than their allowed budget for their job, they would be FIRED. I have access to unlimited overtime at work currently. My boss asks me every Friday if I plan to work the weekend. I always say no. While I could use the extra money, most of it gets taxed. I just can’t get it out of my head that while I could use the extra money to help pay for things, the government will tax it so I am essentially working more hours and spending time away from my family to give a large percentage of my OT pay over to the government. I just can’t bring myself to do it…. Too much tax. In my limited brain capacity, I have always thought OT should be tax exempt. Tax should be capped at 40-44hrs of work. Anything above that should be tax free. I know….. dreamland….

Notice how all these politicians say "Canadians" like we are separate from them. They are truly a class of their own. Like they really care, like they are listening. If they were listening, the carbon tax would be gone, there would be no capital gains tax>. They keep saying "They" are paying 8 of 10 Canadians and they are giving us Pharmacare and Dental Care and school food programs - they are not - WE the people are paying for this not them. And just how are they going to implement a food school program in rural Canada? There will have to a facility or new space, there will have to be someone to manage this - there has to be some level of municipal involvement so it will fall back on the provinces to implement - The Dental Care program doesn't work because the dentists aren't signing up to take part. Diabetes and Birthcontrol? Billions of $$ for this? Nothing makes cents but it's all coming out of pockets and if we don't like it too bad.

The dental care program they are setting up for the disabled is BS as well. They tied it to the disability tax credit which most don't get and is a pain to get. So it will help a very small number of disabled people. They just want to pat themselves on the back and say, oh well we did something, we spent this, blah blah.

I am resigning from an excellent career with the Federal Government because I personally am sick and tired of the absolute reckless and needless spending that happens here. I want to work to help and protect Canadians, and working for the Government I feel responsible for the hurt. This will be the second Federal career I've resigned from. And I will transfer my pension so Canadian taxes are not responsible for my retirement.

I somehow currently take home a 3rd less than I used to 6 years ago.
The cost of everything has gone up double, and in a lot of cases 3 times as much, which makes it difficult to afford an existing mortgage, and to also eat food at the same time. I went to school to make good money doing what I wanted to do for a career, and I successfully followed through with that plan. But somehow within the last 5 or 6 years, my what used to be a high paying career, turned into feeling like slightly over minimum wage, where I am barely able to afford my existing home and mortgage, while also eating food!
Because of this, their should absolutely be criminal charges laid against the Federal Canadian MP's that are directly responsible for this massive loss of money that they are 100% absolutely at fault and obviously guilty for causing! I don't care what anyone says, the fact is, the money is stolen away from me and everyone else, and the Liberal MP's are the ones that caused this, so they logically need to pay for this crime!

Thank you! So glad someone recognized it. Then after income tax paid I spend what I have left and then get taxed again on what I may purchased. After income tax I pay property tax, road tax, car tax, tax on food, tax on heat, tax on water, tax on electricity! My income is probably a small fraction of my salary and I feed, cloth , shelter, live off that small fraction. No wonder I live in survival mode and am stressed and exhausted.

nope, it's way higher than 46%. We pay taxes on income, taxes while we buy stuff, get taxed on breathing while that tax has a tax on it. You pay taxes on the money you already paid taxes on so in the end try 60-70%

Governments don’t control our prices, so your point about things getting cheaper isn’t a point at all. Leave Trudeau in we get taxed absurd amounts. Remove Trudeau and we may actually get some relief from all this. No one can actually explain why we need this carbon tax. Making people pay more does not reduce consumption of things that people can’t afford to replace. Just like constantly raising tobacco taxes doesn’t stop people from using tobacco. It just makes people poor and gives the government more .

My husband did all his studies and training paid it all himself to get his trade license. He was taxed at 55% if he worked hard long overtime hours. Powers are greedy, wasteful, sending taxpayers money to other countries. Husband broke his neck I had cancer couldn’t save our house bank would not even give 2 months to get insurance claims processed. Pure evil.

I'm paying more than 46% taxes on my paycheck! In Canada we pay taxes on taxes on taxes on taxes etc...
