I am not sure how we have missed your channel, we came over after a recommendation by Grampies Workshop. We have have just bought an air operated version of this tool after a number of years using the manual version. We mainly use it for flanging but your video has inspired us to try the rivot function, thanks
I bought one of those tools years ago and used the flange tool to replace some sheet metal. It worked great. The last time I tried to use it, it didn't perform well. I guess the seals were dried out.
i had a flanger that fit in my air hammer, it worked good to fix car bodies. Pressure and volume as well are important. Larger diameter hose works the best for long lengths. Thank you for showing us this tool, Steve. Stay safe and stay cool
There's a set screw on the side towards the head I presume it takes hydraulic fluid not sure though and obviously you throw a few drops of oil in the air tool itself every time you use it if anybody knows I'd appreciate you telling me thanks
Great info -- THANKS! I went ahead and bought one the air flanch punch tools (35 clams at HF at the moment) and it is indeed super useful. Never did see your never-been-done-before project mentioned at 4:45 ...what was it? Now SUBSCRIBED!
Hey Steve. Good video. I bought one of those tools about 20 years ago at Princess Autio. I mostly use it to make spot weld holes and weld flanges. Thanks for sharing.🍁🍁👍
I would of never experience that new tool without the Steve Robs review! Thank you Steve for sharing! Now I know what it is and what it does new leaning curve for me.
Annie its all about learning new things on youtube and this is awesome thats its new to you. Not sure you would ever use it but you know what it does now :)
How's she goin'? That's a neat tool. I am thinking of all the jobs I could use this tool. Now I need one!!! The holes it makes are pretty quick and clean. I like that. That would be very valuable for a big job for sure. Looking forward to you 'secret' project!!! Take care and thanks for sharing!!
Mike I use the punch many times just as locator holes on projects so everything goes back as it should and of course for my rivets as my drilling days are over :)
Jonathan its a princess auto branded tool so I don't know who makes it. I have used it a lot and its so powerful . The flange maker is great for fitting in panels . To me it looks like an astro brand.
Not the same company but the same products. One great thing about buying a PA branded tool is if it ever fails they will give you another free. This tool is so handy , you will love it Spanky.
About a thousand years ago I made replacement gas tanks with a overlap flange gun and braising rods. No one braises any more, why? With a one inch overlap, braising is faster, cleaner and holds just as good as any weld. Bonus round... If you know how to flow braise, it's almost impossible to not have an air tight seal. If you have access to both sides... Braise one side flip it over and reheat the seam. This takes out warpage and pulls the braise fully across the overlapping seam.
So many trades have lost the skill to work with metal without fancy machines to do it for them so a skill today is not exactly so skilled as some were 50 years back . Cheers
Good find Steve....On the jobs we us to have what they called Witney punches and they where build stoning""..they would work like the tool you got...just a bit stronger but the same principal if you want....can't wait to see watts coming done the line....CHEERS
I’ve got an old Whitney punch somewhere with my sheet metal tools that I haven’t used since I retired.MY GUESS on your next build is a screen door for a submarine.XD

Mike is a terrific buddy. Yes for rivets it's so much better than drilling. Cheers

With all this covid crap my speciality store has not opened up yet so it looks like a project for 2021 now.
Very cool new tool Steve. Will be interesting to see what you come up with using it!
Thanks Doug . The ideas are much easier than the doing . LOL
That's slick! I've never seen a compact punch like that (only the big commercial machines)

Thanks buddy you too.

The manual only stated putting a couple of drops of oil down the air fitting before use . No mention about the side screw you mentioned.

Excellent tool. Is it preset to just one size?
Yes one punch size but you can select different sizes.

@@SteveRobReviews Awesome! HF does the same with hand tools.
@@SteveRobReviews looks like im going to HF then 👍
That's a handy wee punchy/flangey dealio. Should be a great time saver
You should have one for your shop , definitely you need to tell Emma about this gadget :)
I need to use my air tools more. 1st times a charm. Nice tool Steve. New project coming up!
Yes use the tools and keep the camera rolling :)
Looks like a nice addition to the shop. Can't wait to see what you are going to build. Cheers my friend.
Thanks Billy . Take care 👍
So who’d you buy it from?
Princess Auto the exact same is sold at Harbor Freight across America.
would that be good for body work
Great for many uses but so far its punching rivet holes:)
great for making holes for plug welds, and the flange is good for replacing body panels, overall great for body work!
Who makes it and where do you get it?
This one is from princess auto, same as harbor freight their house brand . Lots of brands out there as well as prices .
what brand is it?
Its branded Princess Auto like what Harbor Freight does . Looks like an Astro maybe.
Thanks Steve.
So how smooth of a transition does it make when you overlap the metal?
Thanks!
Very smooth . 👍
It's not smooth, 20 gage is about it if you are over lapping 18 gage won't be flush.
Steve, great review. I have the same tool and haven't used it yet. You just motivated me to use it!
Fred its a big help when fabricating , sure get it out and start building !!!!
That’s a great looking tool and definitely a timesaver.
I like it and it sure is great for rivets . Take Care Terry.
