Im an independent O/O and i never go home anymore because i chase every penny i can. Im barely making it as i pray things turn around 🙏🏾 . Between low rates, higher fuel, and truck maintenance im losing my azzzz out here. I had a $1400 load cancel on me at the last minute which felt like a punch to the gut because it was to late to book another load and broker only gave me $150 for the cancelation 😢. I can't afford to go home and im paying rent for a home im never able to sleep at. But im waiting on a call to haul hopper bottoms locally where my buddy is making good money. Hopefully he can get me on soon 🚛
Man that’s why I left SNI about 4 weeks ago and I took my truck to a small carrier and I’m averaging about 4-5k every week consistently. Not much but I don’t have to pay for tolls and my expenses weekly are $246.50 a week and fuel purchases are mostly .70 to $1.00 of a gallon so I still take 1800 plus home weekly after truck note and maintenance. Plus my deadhead averages about 150 miles a week if that
Watching this reminds me of my husbands struggle. His weekly payments were so high, loads were so inconsistent. Dispatchers sending him to loads that were canceled. One week of gross every few weeks was killing us. Thank God my shop carried us but it kept both of us having to work and we have a toddler. It took one week for no work to put in under and he was breaking even every week after bringing nothing home. Making $8k-$10k a week still not being able to bring everything home bc they get paid first. No way for him to manage and prioritize his own money. There’s so many hands in pot and truckers, the hardest and most important part, gets the scraps. Is there a way truckers can unite and make sure you guys are protected. Broker’s, dispatchers, company’s double dipping, it’s legal robbery! Bless you on your journey and I hope all your hard work pays off!

It's going to get worse, my state is building R /R cross docks they say it will take 500 trucks off the road just in my area .
