Hey there! I had a question I have a 2009 135i and doesn’t have the navigation but I want to add it. Do I need to upgrade my radio headunit if I want to add this navigation?
@flippy9133 The call quality with the mr12volt is not that great. But you can use the call function from the CIC and not forced to using mr12volt for calls. Once the call ends, it goes back to Apple Carplay mode so you don't have to manually switch back.

No issues at all and we had it installed since 2022 (though the video was uploaded this year)

I'm not sure about that. I'd reach out to the manufacturer, mr12volt, to inquire if they sell a unit that suits your situation.
Can you use the system without the external mic, I'm not interested in Siri stuff tbh, suppose you can do everything with the iDrive knob and buttons?
Correct, you can use the iDrive knob to navigate through different functions in the Carplay
What happened with the rear cam ???
We ended up not installing the cam

Yes, you can go back and forth between the original interface and carplay
