As a South African living in Cape Town who has never had opportunity to visit Orania..I can not say enough words off how proud I am of these people ..and it has nothing to do with colour..Its the willpower to better yourself and your community
Exactly. There is nothing wrong with it. There are also Zulu Xhosa only towns villages and tribal homelands. All the other tribes in South Africa also have their own towns villages and tribal homelands.
Same, I saw a mention (on wiki) of some trying to say it is an attempt to bring back apartheid and while I know the founder was a white nationalist(the father of the old guy at the end on the bike) , i don't really see it as anything like Apartheid, they are not trying to run the country and subjugate others, just doing their own thing, nothing wrong with it.. There’s a minority of us Black South Africans who admire the work they’ve done and wish to learn from the Afrikaners to implement this level of functionality to the rest of South Africa. Sadly the majority don’t see the big picture.
I think this model would be great for all of South Africa, it can be all white or all black or a mixture community. I would like to see more of those community pop up.

As an American the town of Orania and the South American Country of El Salvador fascinate me in their way of thinking. Both of these places show me what the true meaning of happiness and enjoyment could potentially be.. Watching Timmy Karter's recent vlog on El Salvador and now this video makes me realize how its important to appreciate others ideas and be open minded. Its easy to throw in the towel but when you start to hear others input you learn new perspectives.
Scandinavian here, living in Tz, Africa. Orania is the future, and a great example of how communities can flourish without government involvement. Absolutely a way forward, especially in Africa and for all colours or racial background.

It is not about hard work. I am sure the people who do the most work for these people aren't Afrikaners. It is because of generational wealth, education and market overseas that favored them over the rest of the population. Give me free 20,000 acares of land, loan and a market overseas, and many would be rich dispite of their race.
You ended your video about Orania asking for comments. As an American the stereotype of almost all major S. African cities is they are crime infested and I had a friend from Cape Town and he said crime infested California is nothing compared to S.African cities. I have read since Mandela passed away the S.African government is over run with corruption. I don’t blame the Afrikaners for staring their own communities to be independent and free. The people living there are correct to escape all of the crime and problems in other parts of the country such as Cape Town and Johannesburg. They want a safe, happy, and peaceful society. Where everyone helps each other and to live in a problem and worry free environment.

I was in London in 2020 just before covid (lockdowns happened while I was visiting) and there was a major muslim country rally going outside of the Duke of Wellington's home. It was quite bizarre

I enjoyed this video, and I think the comparison to other groups like the Amish is a valid one and makes sense to me. People have a right to preserve and follow their cultural customs as long as they aren't violating others' rights to do that too. This looks like a great community
We have large Pakistani, Indian, and Jamacan communities in England, so dont see the issue of an Afrakana community thriving, taking care of their own.

There's a difference between living in a community area and completely separating yourself from society (kind of how like right wingers talk about some Muslim only areas in the UK where some people have no integration out of if and some don't even speak English). Not to mention for the most part those communities formed in England not necessarily through choice but through simply your economic level in society. I get what you're saying but they are not quite the same and south Africa is unlike anywhere else but indeed the Afrikaners are a unique community and they're not harming anyone or controlling the country like Apartheid so I don't see an issue with it indeed.
@Seany06 Communities form all over the world and by all ethnic groups because people of the same culture want to live with people who are like them. If a Jamacan comes to England, they want to live with other Jamacans in their own community, so that is where they go. It is a normal part of all human behaviour. It is not forced on people. It is through choice that these separate communities grow the way they do. In England, there are 29 distinct community areas with over 100 000 people in that distinct community, all living in their own region. That does not happen by chance. It happens because generally people of different cultures want to live with people of their own culture.
As a Non white South African I admire the Work of Orania.We can learn from the.I am originally from the Northern Cape and small towwn s in Northern Cape are very safe like Orania.Fellow South Africans can do what Oranians are doing but they dont have the will power or fear the Ruling Party or depend too much on ANC Government.Keep it up Orania.

I'm a native South African with love/hate relationship with the so called white South Africans and God knows my love for them is inspired by the will to get things done and hate obviously comes from their racist nature. Another great video. Joost used the phrase "make a plan". There is an old Afrikaans saying "'n Boer maak 'n plan", which literally means "a farmer makes a plan". The Boers always found innovative and unusual ways to solve problems - nothing deters them. This place is honestly genius. A safe zone for the farmers who are heavily oppressed by the government around them. I was recently shocked when I heard South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa passed a law to seize land from white farmers without compensation . No doubt Orania will grow exponentially as a result of this.

Also prominent people were the rallying point like Prime Minister Verwoerd's family. Blacks had to spend the same time period accumulating basic working & middle class incomes statistically speaking. Only over the last few years are black people starting to build serious infrastructure in some rural areas. Also as far as corporations go, the infrastructure in Orania is less than that of the average suburban lifestyle estate being built around SA. Nothing to write home about. A thousand people or so now. The only reason it's talked about is that , unusually for South Africa, the whites in it actually do their own building.

In this thought-provoking video, I find myself torn. On one hand, I appreciate the self-sufficiency and dedication of these individuals as they build their own place to call home. However, the scene shifts when those young men begin to recite their credo in unison, giving off an unsettling cult-like vibe. One man's statement at 19:35 is wrongly translated as "freedom, safety, culture and traditions". He actually said "for safety and to stay within our OWN people" when asked why he liked the town. This statement further emphasizes this disconcerting atmosphere. The apparent lack of diversity within this community also raises questions and feels quite strange to me. While visits from national leaders can add credibility to their endeavors, they remain just that - visits. Despite these reservations, I truly enjoy your videos, Slava. Your latest creation is an impressive and engaging work.
So people have to be forced together for the sake of diversity, which clearly isn't working anywhere, because it makes you feel better? Diversity can only be achieved organically, but people believe themselves to be gods, and the results speak for them selves. If you listened closely, you would know they work with other cultural groups who wish to achieve the same standard, and the shocker, these are not other white groups. If a Jamacan comes to England, they want to live with other Jamacans in their own community, so that is where they go. It is a normal part of all human behaviour. It is not forced on people. It is through choice that these separate communities grow the way they do.
In England, there are 29 distinct community areas with over 100 000 people in that distinct community, all living in their own region. That does not happen by chance. It happens because generally people of different cultures want to live with people of their own culture.

Also as far as corporations go, the infrastructure in Orania is less than that of the average suburban lifestyle estate being built around SA. Nothing to write home about. A thousand people or so now.

However, the scene shifts when those young men begin to recite their credo in unison, giving off an unsettling cult-like vibe.
One man's statement at 19:35 is wrongly translated as "freedom, safety, culture and traditions". He actually said "for safety and to stay within our OWN people" when asked why he liked the town.
This statement further emphasizes this disconcerting atmosphere.
The apparent lack of diversity within this community also raises questions and feels quite strange to me. While visits from national leaders can add credibility to their endeavors, they remain just that - visits. Despite these reservations, I truly enjoy your videos, Slava. Your latest creation is an impressive and engaging work.

Diversity can only be achieved organically, but people believe themselves to be gods, and the results speak for them selves.
