Top tip: if you grind down the saddle to lower the action and go a little too far, you can put a little "shim" under the saddle when you replace it. I recommend the very thin hard wood strips used by model ship builders as planks on model sailing ships. Quick, cheap and easy repair. Also, they're so thin you can stack them if necessary to reach perfect action height. Make sure they cover the whole length of the bone or plastic saddle. No glue needed.
Thanks to this video, I bought a Harley Benton Custom Line CLA-15M. I must say: Many thanks!!! The guitar looks beautiful and sounds more than great (impressive, only 170€. Disclaimer: it hasn't electronics, I didn't need it, only good ol' mahogany guitar) I can't stop playing it. Thanks again :)
Great video. I think though I am quite impressed by the looks, build, features, and especially price, I’m not wowed by the sound. I would say great for the price but perhaps I need to spend a bit more for the sound I’d like. Thanks for the review!
Very much liked Opeth there, thanks for the review and this was definitely what I need, just a good guitarist that lets me hear how it sounds like. Those Harley Benton’s are great! Also just a side note, I’m not a guitar player but I bought the Harley Benton cst 24 that looks just like Mikael Akerfeldts PRS! Don’t know how much it sounds like that but it surely sounds great ! Thanks again!
Thank you for your video!I just got my HB guitar today. I also find the saddle a little bit too high. Maybe i will sand it down about 1mm some day. I guess it is a business strategy to leave the saddle a little bit high rather than manufacture it too low or causing buzzing. That costs time and that would be a deal breaker for buyers. But over all i really like the guitar. It look great, sounds great. I cannot believe it a 300 euro guitar.
Thanks for the video, it's great. I have that same guitar but the version without electronics. I have another Harley Benton (CLD-41 SE WN) that has the same Fishman preamp. That preamp doesn't have a mic, just a piezo. The "phase" button only inverts the phase. The effect of that button is not noticeable if you are not listening to the sound of the preamp mixed with the direct sound of the guitar. That's the reason why you can't hear any difference in the video. Phase problems are detected mainly in the bass. When what you hear through the speakers is out of phase with the direct sound of the guitar, a lot of body is lost in the bass. Phase problems are due to the distance between the speakers respect to the guitar itself. The idea of this button is to remedy those cancellation problems produced by the 2 sound sources. The way to use it is to put it on and off and leave it in the position that sounds best to you. It is also used to avoid bass feedback in live performances. Greetings!!
Hello there. I enjoyed watching your video. Would you be able to explain the fundamental distinctions between these two guitars? Harley Benton CLA-15MCE SolidWood Harley Benton Custom Line CLA-15MCE NS
Hello super video I would like to buy a first Harley benton guitar the one in the video is not solid wood but sounds very good and have you tried the HB CLD 15 MCE solid wood which must be great and which looks like the SIGMA DM15E For the price and the quality it has no risks -Thank you for the video
May want to toss it on a Plek machine and check the frets man...may not be what you did to the saddle...I saw some of these on a Plek and a few frets were off...not terribly but enough to matter.
Finally someone who knows how to give a complete review. Thanks

That's actually a really good tip, I didn't think about that but good to know in case I do this in the future with another guitar.

Good video, informative!
Congratulations!
I have the same guitar. I noticed a plastic nut on a bone one. The sound has changed a lot!

Its fun to do your own work but having a pro shop set it up can be worth the money!
This is why you don't find many multi-skilled people any more.. why learn something when you can just pay someone else to do it for you.
Putting the old Drappery Falls into the review
Thank you for the review. But you kinda killed the sound with the bridge job.

Very nice indeed. What string gauge are you using, please? I like 9's or 10's.
