  • How to haul your car on U-Haul trailer, how to hook up the uhaul trailer to the truck itself. On this video I shared my experience hauling my car on U-Haul 2021 truck and trailer rental 3000 miles of driving. #SafetyFast #PCS #ETS #militarymove #TDY Yes, moving to another state.
    Some of the tips and tricks I share that will help you with your self move includes;-
    how to diy hook up the U-Haul trailer, how to safely load your car to the U-Haul trailer, checking the lights, how to inspect the trailer, the trailer speed limit, your safety and that of other motorist, unexpected change of weather, avoid rental equipment damage control, planning for the long trip, plan to fuel the truck accordingly and return the rental equipment without damage; NOTE( the U-Haul auto transport trailer and the truck can be covered under your auto insurance, but it is good to check your policy coverage before declining the auto insurance offered at the U-Haul store). If you plan your self move well, considering safety first, you will have great move free of hustle.
    For all the service members planning to make move either TDY, PTDY, PCS, or ETSing, I also dedicate this video to you, thank you for your service, and have safe travels.
    Thanks to my lovely wife for the great trip companion, support, and encouragement. Thank you all #Jeffcarbuoy supporters, subscribers, my old and new viewers; I would not be doing this if it was not for you great people.

      Can I ask you a question?! We are doing a move with the same combo here next week.. on the trailer it says or more than 55mph… that isn’t serious right? Because the whole way is 70mph ahaha just wanted to see how it went!

    • @reyrainer6332
      @reyrainer6332 Год назад

      @@kennahglass8999 I started out keeping to the speed limit and going over mountains this was perhaps a safe, but not a good choice. We averaged less than 50 and essentially got so delayed we had to take an extra day. I think you can safely push it to 65 so that your average (accounting for stops, refills and other delays) is higher. The mileage apps use an average of over 70, but I think that's wishful thinking, especially towing a car.

    So, is it ok to drive in the snow? I'm in North Nevada going West through the Sierra Mountains (I-80) and snow is forecasted soon. A 15' truck and Auto Trailer can do the snow?
    BTW good point on "gas tank" @8:40 . Unless you're just in the city, don't let your tank get low on the highways, sometimes you might push it too close.

    • @JeffCarbuoy
      @JeffCarbuoy  2 года назад +1

      Yes you can haul through the snow but you will be driving slow with a lot of caution, make sure to have the snow kit(can Google what it entail). If hauling your car with a 15' truck, make sure to research the weight capacity that the truck can haul compare to the weight of your car.

    I'm assuming this was a multiday trip.... Did you do research on the hotels you were planning to stay? Did you check if their parking lot allowed for a big truck with a trailer? How about for gas stations? Could you fit in and out easily or was that challenging? Those are my biggest fears lol, thanks for the video!

    • @JeffCarbuoy
      @JeffCarbuoy  2 года назад +2

      We didn't researched for the hotels, we just pulled in any, never had any issue at any point. Always parked in a position that I would not need to back up and confirm with attendants if it was ok to park there. Never plan for gas either, just make sure you have sufficient money for gas n hotels.

    Thank you for this video, sir. We are planning on moving 800 miles away and were considering a U-haul trailer for our vehicle. I had a few questions if you are able to answer them:
    1. How do you secure the vehicle when you stop for food/rest?
    2. How difficult is it to drive a U-Haul with a trailer?
    3. Is the trailer hitched to the truck at the pick-up location by the employees, or is that the customer's responsibility?

    • @JeffCarbuoy
      @JeffCarbuoy  Год назад

      Will start with 3. You can have them do it for you while explaining that's how I did it.
      2. Not very difficult but be cautious the turning are not gonna be the same as the track alone, so pre calculate before you get in tight spots 😉
      1. Question unclear, didn't understand

      @@JeffCarbuoy Thanks for your quick response during this Christmas season. I was referring to leaving the truck unattended while stopping for food or perhaps staying in a hotel. My concern is that the truck would pose as a juicy target for would-be thieves.

    U-haul has their own video, but it lacks a visual of what the auto transport (or tow dolly) is connected to. I needed to know if their large trucks had a hitch, cause their website only mentions connecting this to a trailer. Thank you.
    BTW, in what month did you travel?

      it was on the end of October

      @@JeffCarbuoy I have yet to get an online quote, but would you say the Tow Dolly is cheaper than the Auto Transport? Why go with one over the other, I'm not sure of the comparative benefits besides one keeping the vehicle off the road entirely.

    I have a question and I don't know if it's a good idea but I'm planning on moving with a 10-feet u-haul truck with my car in the trailer and my wife following me on her car from western New York to Texas, what I need is an advice. Is it a good idea to move in January (winter)?

    • @JeffCarbuoy
      @JeffCarbuoy  Год назад +1

      You are on the east coast, so I don't see much of an issue, just make sure that the 10 ft truck towing capacity is good for your vehicle weight.
