Your version is gorgeous Rachel and I'm now thinking of buying it, I too was put off with the photos on the pattern and agree with everything you've said. Just of late a lot of tilly photos have not been appealing, it would be nice if she included older models too. I bought a blouse very similar to this the other day and love it.off to look for some lawn now. Thanks for the video x

This is a gorgeous version of the Marnie, I like you will be leaving the ruffles off the sleeves, I’m in two minds about the dress, there’s part of me considering hacking it to put an elastic in the waist to give me some shaping.
That fabric you have chosen is just gorgeous x

I think this version of the Marnie is beautiful! I agree that the cover shot on the pattern isn't the most alluring but having a look at all the makes has inspired me to give it a go. I haven't done tucks for years so it'll be nice to use this technique again and I love that all the little elements can give each version something unique to go with - using them all on the one top is a little overkill however, using them separately would make each very elegant. I'm measuring at an 8 currently but haven't used a Tilly pattern before. With 15" of ease I'm tempted to size down as I am working on reducing my size anyway. As for the dress, I can see the top part with a Nicks type bottom as a beautiful boho style dress that might be more appealing to those of us over 25. I still like to see my waist being pear shaped and I know it would look like I'm wearing a frilly sack without some sort of waist definition. Great review.

I'd dismissed this pattern out of hand because I didn’t like the shoulder ruffles or the length of the dress, but your version of the blouse has made me reconsider. It looks easy to style up or wear with jeans, and as you say, you could wear a cardie with it as it turns colder. I think that would be much harder with the shoulder ruffles. Really helpful video, thank you!

Luv the way you've sewn up this blouse.. like you I was not at interested in this when I saw the original images.. most likely for the same reasons you've mentioned that the ruffle and the pintucks with the gathering and the full sleeve is a bit too much.. also like that you've chosen a print with some solid spacing that allows for the pintucks to still be visible it gives you a bit more interest than just a solid color😄

Your version is lovely and I agree with your sentiments, when I saw the 'Marnie' it reminded me of the 'Bertie Shift' by Liberty (or McCalls!!) and I dismissed it, I have found a few of the new releases are similar to patterns already out there, I plan to make the Bertie again and think I will hack it to include tucks as they are the feature I like best in this pattern. Your fabric is also fab and thats the beauty of a large stash, being able to act quickley, I did smile at you saying it was a slow make at 4-5 hrs but its all relative.
