Excellent work buddy .. lucky you went back for Helen or else you would have had picture no sound for a hike no doubt :-) loved the Helencam footage overall and you got some nice shots pal .. great video
Hi ya Darren, She’s not a fan of being on camera, but I know just how much I can get away with when filming her. She’s a great companion when hiking as she really enjoys the landscape and she shoots some good B roll 😉 Take care bud and have a great Sunday 🍺
I have to agree Tony. She’s not a lover of heights or the cold but nothing stops her from enjoying herself. Thanks for the kind comment bud and have a great weekend 🍺
Hi ya Steve, I hope you’re well mate. It was a shame to have such harsh light but at least there wasn’t any wind when we were up there. About 2 hours after the selfie, the winds arrived and stayed for the next 4 days and so I can’t really complain to much. Take care and have a great week bud 👍
@@DarrenKnightPhoto Gutted for you, wind is a pain. Hopefully you managed to get something regardless. I'm doing good although as always the weekend was too short. Got Wales trip at the weekend then Gib so counting down the days 😁
I totally agree Duckhalt Pics, I’ve been in Feb and March and although I really enjoy the snowy landscape it was nice to be able to go for a hike and see the paths. Something I’ve ever managed to do before. Thanks for watching and have a great week 👍
Ah you lucky bugga. I absolutely love Iceland scenery. And these vlogs are as close as I will ever get to there. I've missed some of your vlogs, so I'm pleased that I caught this one. Brilliant captures sir. That girl of your's is a trouper.
Hi ya Den, I hope you’re well mate. I have to agree on all counts. Iceland is an amazing country and Helen is an absolute star, especially as she’s really not good with heights. After this hike we went to the beach and had a lot of fun photographing the waves and icebergs. It really is a magical country. Take care mate and have a great week 👋
Darren Knight Photo I haven’t been out there for years now, used to go 3 or 4 times a year running workshops. Really miss the place, so nice to see this video
Really enjoyed watching this video Darren... I recently filmed and hiked this canyon myself (on my phone, no where near your quality!), but it was April and the canyon was covered in snow, so it looked completely different. It was really lovely to see it in a new light, and also through a photographer's eyes!
Hi ya John, You really should visit mate as it’s a beautiful country. I’ve been there in February and in March and both of those months are fantastic but the weather can be brutal. October was a great month to visit, but whatever time you decide to go you’ll have a great time. If you need any info just email me and I’ll tell you as much as I can. Thanks for watching and take it easy matey
Hi Ya Tom, Sorry for the late reply. Helens a very hand assistant and everyone should have one when out shooting 😉 I hope you’re well mate and enjoying the new camera
Great video. You managed very well to deal with the harsh light conditions in post. What a fantastic place Iceland is. Thank you for finding this location and showing it to all.Iceland is one of my bucket list locations. I am looking forward to more great videos. Cheers.
Hi Nicoline, and thanks for the kind comment. You really should visit as it’s a beautiful country and I’ve already visited 4 times and I’m now planning trip number 5. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend 👋👋
Cheers Gary. A friend of mine mentioned the location a week before we left and between us we managed to roughly work out it’s location. I would have liked to have got higher, but the strong winds were imminent. Have a good weekend bud 🍺
Great video Darren. Was awesome to see this place. Didn’t get here on my trip last time. Ahhh the winds of Iceland brings back memories. Thanks for sharing the video mate, cheers 👍🙏
Hi Adrian, That’s my 3rd visit along the south coast, but the next time I visit I’ll start heading north. What I really want to do is a 3 week trip and do the ring road. Thanks for watching matey and have a great week 👋
Hi Libolt Adventures, It’s a beautiful country and I’d highly recommend you adding to your bucket list. Autumn was a good month as the roads are good to dive on. I’ve been in Feb and March and the roads can be very icy which makes travel a little slower. Have fun 👍
Looks awesome mate. Nice to see Helen make an appearance, bless her you did make it hard for her to say no about taking your selfie! Next vid looks a tad windy!
She did so well Jamie as she’s really scared of heights. I’m just processing the next video at the moment (well I’m not as I’m in the pub) and I’m really pleased with some of the images taken on the beach. I’m off to Norfolk tomorrow for sunrise if you fancy a shooting companion 🍺👋
Hi ya Scott, Considering the harsh light I was really pleased with the outcome. However it’s been pointed out to me that my blue coat should really be swapped for a red or yellow coat if I want the scale of a selfie to stand out. More money 😞😂😂 Thanks for watching and have a great week bud 👋
It was great to actually go on a hike David, as when I’ve been before the snow would have covered the paths. Yep, a few hours after shooting the vid, the winds came and lasted for 4 days 😂 Take care bud 👋
First of all.....which wife shop did you go to coz I want the same model! Well done to the Mrs. Cracking contrasty shots, first one being my fave. You got a bit lost in the selfie. I’ll lend you my orange jacket for next time. Well put together mate....see you shortly 👍👍
She was a good find James as she really doesn’t like heights and suffers in the cold but pushes on regardless. I agree about the coat and so perhaps I need to upgrade to a selfie red or yellow 😉 see you in a few weeks bud 👍
Men of a certain age all start to take up landscape photography, look the same and boast of how big their tripod is. We can't all have Mrs C as our beautiful assistant unfortunately...or Helen ;-)
It’s a fantastic spot Gal, just a shame about the conditions. I won’t lie, the spot where I was standing for the selfie was a bit sketchy 😉 I’m off to Norfolk tomorrow for sunrise if you fancy it 👋👋
What a really enjoyable and well presented travel show. It has to be said the best image of the day was taken by Helen, sorry mate. Having you in the shot really shows the scale of the place, loved it 👍🔥
Morning Simon, As she’s scared of heights but still managed to climb down to the tripod, she deserves the credit for that shot. Thanks for watching mate and I hope you’re well 👍
There's a view that's worth a days walk! I know blue skies are problematic. but on this occasion the blue nicely complemented the yellowish greens just below the skyline. And as others have said - if you want to be in the shot you would do better with a brighter jacket! I prefer the earlier shots because the Portrait format enhances the impressions of height and of narrowness. You've left me feeling that walking in along that stream would be a pretty intense experience, just being there, never mind photography. Nice one!
Hi David, I really wanted to stay longer and explore the area as I’m sure we only scratched the surface, but the winds were almost upon us and it was time to head down. In fact by the time we got back down we were struggling to open the car doors as the wind was so strong. Thanks for the feed back on the portrait shot and why you preferred it. That piece of CC has been noted. 👍 Take care bud and have a great week 👍
We did it in a 2W drive car and driving along the dirt track was fine. There was a small stream which we opted not to drive through but I’m sure we could have if we really wanted to
How did you get there? Did you climb a steep going up or is there a usual route people take? We parked near highway 1 then from the abandoned house we can’t really see any other routes
Dear Darren, please HELP. I cannot find your video of you taking this hike in February (You showed a small excerpt here). Is it possible to hike in late March/early April? Please help if possible. The purchase of two airline tickets may depend on it. Thank you for your spectacular video.
Hi, I’ve been to Iceland in February and the weather was very harsh and so I never contemplated the hike then due to snow and ice. However you can never predict the weather and so you maybe okay but I’m guessing it would be very difficult and possibly dangerous Near the edges of the valley. In April the weather is usually a lot better and so you’d have a good chance of safely following the footpaths PS:- I never attempted this hike in February, I was showing the conditions of Iceland in February
