‘Overwhelmed’ is one of of the most common feeling everyone faces.... so there are ways to overcome it: 1. sit down , switch of your phone, computers and all of your gadgets 2. grab something for you to eat( fruits and water recommended) 3. set up a timer for 20 mins( that would be good) 4. pull up a a huge piece of paper, write all the things by categories you wanna achieve... kinda like brainstorming 5. arrange them by priority using colors like red, orange, yellow and green 6. ASAP cross off a to-do from that list to fill up your satisfaction levels. 7. make sure that you cross-off your ideal number of to-do’s daily, ie, (total no: of tasks/no: days available) note: as on as you find out that its your ‘feelings’ at that moment of time which helds you back from doing your work, you can easily overcome it . remember, feelings are just suggestions they are not meant to be your actions. Thank you.
Usually when I feel overwhelmed first thing I do is to calm myself. Play some light music and do a quick meditation of 10 minutes. Then when I feel a little calm I plan my day. Your technique is very good too. Only I can't plan digitally. I have to plan on paper.💜
When I feel overwhelmed I go for a run so that I can lower my stress levels and then without a lot of thinking I just start studying or doing the thing that seems the hardest to me and is stressing me the most (because most of the time we know which one it is... -Right now it is a test for me) I am sending some positive energy to you Mariana 😍😘😘
Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I first write out everything that I have to do. Then I pick something, like for instance if I have to read 30 pages of something, I tell myself: just read the first two pages and then you can have a break. Usually once I have done those two pages I feel like I can do much more and most of the time I actually end up completing the task in one or two go's. Hope this helps someone out :)
I bet you'll feel a huge weight lifted once you submit that thesis! I hope you have a treat planned for yourself after such a big accomplishment. My tip: if you don't feel a good portion of the overwhelm leave a few days after the submission, maybe it's time to take a few things off your plate. Thank you for the Monday video :)
Great video that I can definitely relate to! When I get really overwhelmed I find it very hard to start work on anything and i end up trying to avoid all my responsibilities, which eventually leads to panic and anxiety. One thing I have found helps me get the ball rolling on tasks is the pomodoro method. A few rounds of pomodoro, usually on smaller, unimportant tasks like emails, and I feel much better and more able to tackle the big tasks. I’m big on lists as well - I use two bullet journals, one for work and one for personal life. Whenever I feel the overwhelm coming I make a big list like you. It has resulted in some of the best bullet journal collections I’ve ever had - not because they are fancy (they aren’t) but because they are actually useful!
Starting this week will be my no-sleep days because in 2 months I will be graduating! So today, I feel really overwhelmed and I don't want to waste my time in fangirling/other stuff that could eat my time. Whenever I feel overwhelmed I try to sleep first or stay in a quiet place and write in my journal. I believe that I have stored a lot of negative energies and I haven't spilled them all. Then I write my to do's on my planner (for fixed dates) and bullet journal (for the tasks)- may it be for the next month, next week or next day projects, hwks, and quizzes. Then I drink a lot of water, program myself to get ready to study, then dive right into it. We all feel overwhelmed- and I hope that all of us could also get back on track~ Wishing you all the best for this semester, Mariana! 💖
Whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed, I just remind myself that this is simply a moment in time which will pass. This helps me calm down and makes me realize that the current stressful moment is not permanent, and I just need to do whatever I feel capable of. Once I'm in a better headspace, I make a general to-do list and I rank things from top priority to unimportant tasks that can be rescheduled at a less stressful time. Another thing I do to help is that I talk to people that are close to me and let them know how I'm feeling. I'm fortunate enough to have people in my life that take extra care of me during these times and will do little gestures like making me a tea or preparing me a snack while I'm working. Reaching out for support can be really helpful!
I recently had a phase where I had 4 assignment submissions, last dates for a couple of stuff and exams lined up. I was very flustered and couldn't get around doing much of anything so I just paused everything. Took a break of an entire day without stressing on how much I have to do. I was much better and focused the next day. IDK if that will work for everyone else but definitely worked for me.
This video couldn't have come at a better time. I'm really struggeling with getting my History bachelor, doing an internship, being on the board of a historical foundation and working a part time job. Really helped and inspired me. Also I think it took a lot of courage from you to cancel your history midterms. Couldn't have been an easy choice.
I downloaded Notion and I’m completely in love! ❤️ Thank you for sharing this wonderful tool! It has helped me feel less overwhelmed by allowing myself to create non academic goals! 😋
Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I start by cleaning up my space, organize my notes, and quickly write down /everything/ I have to get done (this can be in the next day/week/month depending on what overwhelms me) and then estimate how much each task takes (and usually add a bit of extra time to each task it just in case), put everything to my calendar and then get to work. I find that the organizing part calms me down and when I'm planning I notice that I /do/ have time to do everything I need. If I don't have the time, I either try re-planning or see if some things can be moved to a less busy time (eg. we have 3 exam dates for each exam, I always try to take the first one but sometimes it's just not possible and then I just take the next one, which is usually a month or two later). Oh and I always also eat at least something because I tend to get a lot more anxious/overwhelmed when I'm hungry. And sometimes I find someone to rant to, either in person or online, that also helps :D
I just had a research essay my prof gave only one week to do, and it coincided with another economics essay. I've never felt that overwhelmed since high school (now in university) but I took 30 minute naps after classes everyday because I always wake up feeling energised. High energy foods also help though I like to blend hot almond milk and coconut oil together for my energy booster. Cleaned up my desk before every work session and worked at the 2 essays every night for a whole week straight. Slightly sleep deprived but made it and now I'm glad it's over.
I can not have too many lists to check every time I try to plan. I mean, having it in a computer, and the other app and in a paper, that is impossible for me- I use to plan just things that change. An appointment, a reading, a special activity. I find that I waste my time when I put on things that are part of my routine, the lectures that I know I always have on Mondays, and things like that.
i try to remember that if there were a natural disaster (7.0 earthquale, wildfire, etc.) that most of what is stressing me out would be irrelevant. i would care about my family and safety and health. when i reorganize my thoughts so that a volcano is a "10" it's easier to see my current backlog of stuff as the 4s and 5s they are. 1s-7s are just things that you can attack and take time. true emergencies are truly frightening, so i don't need to have panic or fear right now because of this monster backlog. it'll all be ok, just kind of tight right now. the future looms bright and free of craziness at the end of this crappy time. best of luck with your stuff. it will all be ok.
When I'm feeling overwhelmed I take a few minutes to write a handwritten to do list. Then I pick off a couple of easy wins in the room I start in. The to do list is a guide do it doesn't matter if I move to a non social media task during the first few tasks. By this point seeing lines through completed tasks usually gives me the momentum to keep going. Oh and coffee. Lots of coffee.
What I normally do when I feel overwhelmed, is either go to the gym, or play a different type of genre of music and relax for 30 minutes or dance. If all fails, I go to sleep or look for answers on youtube. 😂😅
Lauren Manyweather I do the same thing! In between writing essays, I get up and dance. I play music on my headphones, until I feel happy and ready to write the next paragraph.
Loved ur videos...may u plz make a video for students who are having class from morning to evening 5pm..after school study...plz Mariana...love u... from Kerala
UPSC ASPIRANT LIFE No u r not a small youtuber u know what u r soon going to get more than 1m viewers and subs Never say u r small because u never know who is gonna go down and who is gonna go up Ur videos are amazing an I just subbed as soon as I saw ur channel name 👍🏻👍🏻🎖
When i overwhelmed i cried for, like, ten minutes. After that i feel more calm and i feel more motivated to be productive. The only problem is when its happen, i can cried *everywhere*, even in public. Do you think this a bad habit? Well everyone around seems fine about it tho😅 and after that they never mention it.
I really need to hear this right now. Just read an article on 7 habits of healthy people where a technique is divide tasks into urgent (deadline) and critical (important) then further divide them into four quadrants that they may be "urgent, critical, urgent and critical, not urgent and not critical". Then redistribute focus to balance both. And I use excelatlife.org for audios on stress and such.
Even I have my boards and 3 exams are still left... Even I used to have great anxiety.... So... This is what I did.... 1- take big deep breaths... This would instantly make you calm.... 2- drink water or something liquid... For me it has always been coffee and if you don't like it... Drink something else... It would help you relax.. Idk how but it really does... 3- remember stressing would affect your performance in a negative way... If your chapters are prepared have confidence.... 4- don't go over any new stuff as it would only aggravate the situation.... 5- get decent amount of sleep...!! I hope this would help.... ❤️
I’m not overwhelmed with things I need to do I’m just overwhelmed with the thoughts I have and how I’m not the person I want to be and I don’t have the life I want to have and anxiety and how i keep having nostalgic from times I didn’t live in and how I’m 17 and feel so immature and my life is not that great cause I have no friends and I’m insecure etc etc I just think too much
