  • First I'll start with the nasalization definition. Nasalization refers to when air comes out the nose during articulation of sounds that are supposed to come out the mouth. It can be tricky to treat and so that's why I created this video: to help you treat clients/students/patients who struggle with the nasalization of oral phonemes.
Now we have sounds that only come out of the nose: M, N, and NG. Additionally, some vowels come out the nose softly.

Can you provide more information on word list you provide - and you teach the "placement" of eliminating nasalization for /s/

I don't have a list, I'm sorry to say. I have just drilled a lot of S words over and over. Then I provide the feedback to let them know when it was an oral sound and when it was more nasally.

Do you have any tips for working with kids that have this nasalization but are also intellectually disabled?

I think that is a tough population to work with on this phonological process. Sorry I don't have any ideas!
