      Ask yourself what you’re scared of, are you scared of what will happen if you fail? Will you break your neck? Maybe. Either try or give up. The fear will go away one way or the other

      Con Fidential I’m scared that my body is just going to become all mushy and weak the moment I go to do a backflip because I’m scared because I’ve been trying for like 7 years to do a backflip off of something and I’m scared, I found this thing at the park near me that’s perfect because it’s like a foot and a half tall and it’s really grippy so I won’t slip and it’s on wood chips but it’s next to the beach and there’s always a lot of people watching

    • @jonieryk293
      @jonieryk293 3 года назад +28

      @@DARK_AMBIGUOUS There are trampoline parks. I haven't learned a backflip on ground but on a trampoline you can practise it as much as you want into a foam pit. I once fell in it head first because I was trying to do as many frontflips as I can and I was absolutely fine. Then trying a backflip without a foam pit is not that hard. You can try to underrotate on purpose and fall on your knees and you will be fine. Do that a lot of times and you will get comfortable with the motion and start doing a little more just to fall on your legs. After some practise you will be able to do backflips and frontflips on a trampoline without a problem.
      Right now I'm exactly at this state - I can do a backflip on a trampoline but haven't tried on ground because It could be too dangerous. I'm pretty confident I wouldn't fall on my head because I'm comfortable with the movement. Having said that I'm pretty sure I could do it if i tried it - so that is my tip - trampoline park.

You covered important things such as common mistakes, the proper way for helping someone and most importantly some basic body mechanics that allow you to better understand the movement and technique behind it. I'm already able to do a backflip for several years and if someone had told me some of these tips, I'd have learned it much sooner and better. "...tuck your knees, wait a bit..." made me laugh!
    Seriously guys, you've put so much information into one video and have done so incredibly well. Congratulations.
    Once comment though - when visualising (mental imagery), although you mentioned "imagine how it would feel" you also put images of how it would "look" for an external observer. It's important to visualise from your own point of view, so you "see" your hands coming up, knees tucking up, the hold and then the floor and so on.
    Big ups on the channel and the information you're sharing. I've recently been bitten by the calisthenics bug and my start has been easier by good quality (great quality) channels like yours.

    I tried a backflip when I was little, landed on my neck, and couldnt breathe at all for 2 minutes. I'm severely scared of backflips now

      @@hadishams5732 that's not the best advice to be honest.
      If someone is scared of something, the chances of failure are a lot higher even with practices. Its just some mental block absolutely not easy getting rid of it

    Thanks for the video! I am still learning the backflip ,but I feel much more relived knowing what to do and how to do it. Important part for me to learn acrobatics is to understand how it works ,so that I can fix my mistakes when I fail.

    As someone who has recently learned the backflip, I think you´re making the movement seem way more difficult than it really is. The physical component is not hard at all (compared to something like a front flip, where you have to tuck really hard just to avoid landing on your ass), so the flip is mostly about confidence and commitment. The technique is a little complicated, but it´s not that difficult if your only aim is to land it. The mental component is easily overcome by trying it into a foampit or a pool, followed by trying it on a trampoline. Just go with your instincts, and with each step, your body will tell you when it´s ready to move to the next one. The biggest step is probably the first time you try it without jumping assistance, because the take-off on your own is very different from a trampoline, but if you manage to get over the fear once, it´s not such a big deal anymore. Just remember to jump up, bring your knees to your chest, and then look backwards for the landing. Worst (realistic) case scenario, you will under-rotate and land on your hands and face first, which won´t be that bad if you have soft mat to land on. But no, you definitely DON´T need hundreds of reps with assistance to even attempt the flip at all.
