How to extend or duplicate displays on your PC in Windows 10, is what we look at in this video today. It could be that you have multiple displays laptop to external screen or two external monitors connected to a PC - the same principal applies.
When you setup your dual monitors for the first time, it's quite common for the default monitor setup to be a duplicated set up.
To extend display monitor on your PC in Windows 10 can significantly enhance your computing experience. Extending your display can enhance productivity by allowing multitasking with multiple applications open simultaneously, making it easier, for example, to cross-reference information, and benefiting creative tasks like graphic design, video editing, coding and much more. It maybe that you want to extend your desktop on monitor 1 and 2. So how to extend displays when 1 and 2 only show.
Duplicating your display is ideal for presentations, enabling everyone to see the same content on a larger screen in business meetings, conferences, and classrooms for example. It simplifies viewing for home entertainment by allowing content to be enjoyed on a larger screen and helps in remote collaboration by ensuring everyone sees the same thing.
Choosing the right monitor display mode depends on your needs: extend for productivity and creative work, and duplicate for presentations and collaborative tasks etc. But knowing how to manage your monitor setup can be very helpful, particularly as having an extended display / monitor / screen setup can enhance your productivity.
By the end of this video, you'll know how to switch between duplicated and extended display modes on your PC with dual monitors.
This video assumes that your monitors are setup and plugged in ready to go.
How to extend or duplicate the display on your PC with a dual monitor setup - Process 👇👇👇
1. Go down to the bottom left of the screen, left clicking on your mouse on the magnifying glass and type 'display' in the search box.
2. From the options, select 'duplicate or extend to a connected display' as shown - the display settings window will open.
3. To extend your displays, so you have two separate displays / screens, scroll down to where it says 'multiple displays.' From the drop down menu select 'extend these displays.' So extend these displays Windows 10. When selected, you will notice that your screen goes blanks momentarily (this is normal).
4. When your monitor displays come back online following the change, you will notice an extended set up, signified by the two different monitor numbers as shown at the top of the display settings page.
You should now be able to move apps and windows between the two extended displays / separate screens.
