it was so cute when he apologized for killing it; I like how he used ice so it essentially put the animal to sleep before dying so it wasn't cruel. I always appreciate how Masaru acknowledges these are living animals and he's thankful for the food, even if it's not always delicious. watching the whole process of how the animals he catches are prepared into food helps me be more mindful and thankful for what I eat
i think it's also really cute how he apologizes for just eating the jellyfish (or other sea creatures) raw, before he actually prepares a dish. it comes from a deep respect for sea creatures and he even said that "it's disrespectful to the jellyfish" hsffd i love him so much
The while on ice thing doesnt make sense to me your essentially just freezing it to death ... even fish im pretty sure dont fall asleep they die if they get too cold right??
Masaru's channel is slowly turning into Brave Wilderness. But instead of letting the dangerous animal bite him, Masaru cooks and eats it and waits to see if he gets sick. Masaru, RU OK?
I love this guy. He tells it like it is. He goes through this whole meticulous process of cutting up and cooking all these weird things, and then he's like "yup, this tastes like crap". Respect.
I've heard they aren't edible but I'm sure it's fine. I think it's not poisonous so I'm going to try eating it. I don't think it'll hurt so I'll touch it. The scientific approach is what I love about his videos
*Masaru* has some balls of steel. By the looks, you can tell that jellyfish wasn't edible nor nutritious, but you still did it. Great cooking video man!
I think since the dome part tastes like seaweed that maybe, if you tempura fried it, or grilled it, you could have an edible rice bowl. Put in some sushi rice, then put some tuna nigiri over the top. It would be an interesting experience that also would produce less waste since you’re basically eating the bowl that the rice is in.
I was thinking the same thing. But the rice, and anything else that goes into the bell bowl should be bland since it's so salty. Treat the bell like seasoning.
I've thought this so many times before, like, Masaru is the type to get Isekai'd and hunt some underwater fish giants and eat them with a pet Parrotfish
I mean, most of the jelly fish is salt water. So when you cook the water in oil, it's gonna be violent. And after the water evaporates, what you are left with is salt and a little bit of meat. Essentially eating salt coated in jellyfish meat.
As much as I love your more dangerously interesting videos and I know you have experience/knowledge about the things you eat but pleaseeeee look after yourself Masaru. We don’t want you to get badly hurt.
8:50~ I am smiling so large to see how excited you were when you realized that your intrepid curiosity payed off! But, to take all of those processing steps to only consume the fringe of the bell would make it *SUPER* expensive to sell. I suppose one could fry strips of the bell, and then cut really-fine strips or diced pieces and sprinkle it atop a recipe, taking into account the concentrated salt-flavor. Wait...don't people like salty things with beer? Maybe you've come across a high-end delicacy.
Awesome video Masaru-san! I've only eaten jellyfish twice in my life and the first time I had it it was in a delicious salad with a nice texture. However recently I had a jellyfish salad and the texture was so bad I nearly vomited trying to swallow it. It was like trying even crunchier more slimy pork rinds! It's so cool to see people experiencing and eating different types of jellyfish.
Wait, is Jellyfish not something you guys can just get easily..? Or is it rare in your country..? I’m asking that because I have a salad with Jellyfish in it like twice a month… It’s actually really delicious.. I think it’s the only thing in the salad that I liked…
Yeah, I tried a jellyfish salad once, and I never knew something could be squishy and crunchy at the same time. It was so unpleasant that it put me off ever wanting to try eating jellyfish again.
I’m drinking a large glass of eggnog with bourbon here on Christmas night 2022 and I just can’t stomach anymore of this. No offense, please, because I love your channel! From Texas, with love! Merry Christmas, All
