it was so cute when he apologized for killing it; I like how he used ice so it essentially put the animal to sleep before dying so it wasn't cruel. I always appreciate how Masaru acknowledges these are living animals and he's thankful for the food, even if it's not always delicious. watching the whole process of how the animals he catches are prepared into food helps me be more mindful and thankful for what I eat
i think it's also really cute how he apologizes for just eating the jellyfish (or other sea creatures) raw, before he actually prepares a dish. it comes from a deep respect for sea creatures and he even said that "it's disrespectful to the jellyfish" hsffd i love him so much
The while on ice thing doesnt make sense to me your essentially just freezing it to death ... even fish im pretty sure dont fall asleep they die if they get too cold right??

I think since the dome part tastes like seaweed that maybe, if you tempura fried it, or grilled it, you could have an edible rice bowl. Put in some sushi rice, then put some tuna nigiri over the top. It would be an interesting experience that also would produce less waste since you’re basically eating the bowl that the rice is in.

I was thinking the same thing. But the rice, and anything else that goes into the bell bowl should be bland since it's so salty. Treat the bell like seasoning.

I think seasoning food with minced jellyfish instead of salt would be a really interesting idea and it might add a bit if texture

I was gonna say theres people who survive the summit of Everest and there's free divers who can go deeper on one breath than most can on oxygen and trimix tanks. Most of us would die. I wouldn't want to base my diet on what he can eat. He's a diver and spearfisher on an island. He even says he's built a tolerance to jelly stings. What gave him a tingle would probably send most of us to the hospital.

Awesome video Masaru-san! I've only eaten jellyfish twice in my life and the first time I had it it was in a delicious salad with a nice texture. However recently I had a jellyfish salad and the texture was so bad I nearly vomited trying to swallow it. It was like trying even crunchier more slimy pork rinds! It's so cool to see people experiencing and eating different types of jellyfish.

Yeah, I tried a jellyfish salad once, and I never knew something could be squishy and crunchy at the same time. It was so unpleasant that it put me off ever wanting to try eating jellyfish again.

I love to eat jellyfish. I always bought the cured one. To make it less salty, I usually soak it in cold water after washing it. I eat it with lemon, red onion, carrot, cucumber, and chilli

I don't know why I keep watching Masaru's videos ... maybe because he is crazy, always eat weird or poisonous seafood.He is honest and always looks happy when prepare his food.
I'm really late but he makes me so happy when he describes the sea creatures he's preparing as cute. It will be a scary jellyfish and he will say it's cute and I will be like "He's right that IS CUTE!!!!!!! IT IS VERY CUTE!!!!!!!"

I mean, most of the jelly fish is salt water. So when you cook the water in oil, it's gonna be violent. And after the water evaporates, what you are left with is salt and a little bit of meat.
Essentially eating salt coated in jellyfish meat.
