I purchased this light, model 82156, black, from Costco this summer. The unit works very well, however, last night when the Puget Sound sustained high winds with gusts greater than 40 mph. The solar panel which is anchored with four screws through a plastic base which narrows to a 5/16" hexagon shapped shaft where it attaches to an adjustable mount on the solar panel snapped sending the glass panel airborne until is smashed on the ground. I believe having a 5/16" hexagon mounting shaft for a 6 3/8" by 7 1/2" glass solar panel is a design flaw. A replacement solar panel costs $18 including shipping, however, I don't want spend $18 everytime we have high winds which is frequest during the Autumn and Winter months.

TheBigb1073: I have no idea what your problem was in the mount but I have installed two and neither one took me more than 20 to 30 minutes to do so.

It’s not hard at all. Use an extended drill bit or drill a hole and use a screwdriver to install the screw. Done. Simple as that.
