I remember getting Oracle of Seasons as a kid and man i loved playing it back then. For being my first ever Zelda game it truly was a magnificent experience, simple yet very intruiging mechanics for the time like the Rod of Seasons, the Magnet glove and the animal pals. A very underrated game in the Gameboy library in my opinion and that deserve so much more love and recongition.
I think ages was my first Zelda too (and Seasons since my brother got it around the same time and we would share) I agree they are very underrated, it would be cool if Nintendo remade them in a new top down 3d style like they did with Link's awakening. Fingers 🤞
Oracle of Ages was my first Zelda game! It completely blew me away, I had no idea what I'd been missing ignoring the Zelda franchise all those years. When I was done I promptly got Ocarina of Time for the 64 and the rest is history....still one of the best games I've ever played.
@@turntsnaco824 Same, knew about Zelda but never bothered to play any of the games until the Oracle games came out. Loved a lot the puzzles and the music too, that being said i hated the Subrosia dancing minigame with a passion.
If one doesn't mind the graphics that were VERY dated by 2001, these games are quintessential 2D Zelda that i won't hesitate to recommend. I have some GBA copies myself.
Great video. Ive only ever made it to Twin Rova once, epic games. Funny how it depends on which game you got as kid that influences which game is better- Seasons all the way for me!
Idk. I'm too dumb for most if the ages puzzles and I'm too bad for seasons combat. I always play ages first for ugrades in season because it's harder for me. But if I had to pick probably ages
I've never played the Oracle games but I'm gonna be doing a full series marathon, replaying several entries and some for the first time. The only handheld title I've actually played through all the way was Link's Awakening. This definitely made me more optimistic for these titles since I'm generally not as big of a fan of 2D Zelda
Thanks for watching craven. If you liked Link's Awakening I'm sure you'll like the Oracles games too since they borrow so heavily from it, and they're not too long either which is nice. Good luck with the marathon!
Bruh there's so many little secrets within both games i didn't know the iron sheld was a thing until i played ages again and just decided to go inro that one cave
Its amazing how much they packed into two little gameboy color cartridges. You can even upgrade the iron shield further by using a secret when you link the games together.
Great video! Really enjoying the Oracle games, currently on my first playthrough of Seasons after investing 17 hours into Ages only to have my in game save file overwritten by an old Save state lol. Thanks for your take on these games!
They're very under appreciated for sure... I have my fingers crossed for remakes, but the logic side of my brain thinks the odds if it happening aren't high sadly 😢
As a dumb kid i always thought seasons had more content because it would be scrolling through all 4 seasons and not between just past and present maps. Still picked ages despite that. Thanks for the nostalgia
No one talks about this and it makes me sad. Ages was my first Zelda game. 3:52 Bitch, I'm fabulous! I didn't realize they made artwork of this guy. Dimitri is a Dogondo. Moosh looks like a fat cat.
It's amazing how much official art was created for the minor characters in these games considering it was never realistically going to be seen outside of maybe player's guides and magazine spreads. I'm not complaining though :)
picked up ages in some lot of something or other, wasnt familiar with it at the time and paif it no mind, did some research later and found that it had a companion game so i bought seasons, procedded to ignore them for far too long, now im finally going though and completing them. im on the third playthrough, the unlinked hero campaign
I know it would have been a pain in the ass to develop but I wish they made it a three game release. It would vastly of increased replayability of all of the games and it would have been super ambitious, but I understand why they didn’t or couldn’t. Still though, it would have been cool.
When you bump into Maple, you actually lose a random amount of your own items as well, so the stuff strewn on the ground is a mix of both your items. So, it’s all fair game since you’re stealing from each other 😂

@@boxheadbaron4655 Now that would be really cool to see, a modern top down 3D rendition of both games is a great choice.

I completely agree, my brother had Seasons so it's also his favorite.
Thanks for watching!

How do you not have more subs?! This is a great video
Thanks for watching Josey! I appreciate the kind words :)
Had ages and my cousin had seasons. Quite enjoyable passing the passwords between us. Thank you for the nostalgia
No problem, thanks for watching! Its always interesting hearing other folks memories with older games.

Ooph sorry to hear about your save state snafu. Were you able to enter the continuation secret into seasons or was it lost with your ages save?
7:33 You both actually drop each other’s stuff, she says whatever she picks up is hers (that includes your stuff).
i would talk about them if anyone would listen, they are great, i wish nintendo would give them the links awakening remake treatment

These two were the first Zelda games that I played and once in a while I come back to them. They are super underrated!
I'm pretty sure they were my first Zeldas too! Definitely under rated gems. Thanks for watching :)
I had both i loved them

Thanks for watching Ross and thanks for the laugh 😀 😆...gotta love kid logic

I never knew, my conscience had been cleared haha thank you!
2 other games ill be buying again, i beat ages and always wanted seasons but could never get it soooo nows the time.
They're definitely both worth playing through if you like the older top down style of zelda games! 👍
The secrets system is the only bad part of these games. Way too complicated, i get to a point where i dont care anymore because its so much effort
