how to get your channel taken down step 1: say nintendo games suck compared to the n64 step 2: wake up in a dungeon as mario is whipping prisoners who dared speak such words
It's so weird how Mario and the gang don't appear until the very last part of the game. It's as if you played a Final Fantasy game where all you do is compete in crocheting tournament, and once you become the champion someone tells you "Oh by the way, there's this dude Cloud Strife who is a crocheting legend, how bout you challenge him now?"
word... I'm here after the disappointing mario golf switch release, would have been nice if they just would bring these aspect over in sports games so they dont feel like the same tired old crap, blind devs
Dude, I remember playing Mario Tennis: Power Tour on the GBA, and I was amazed at how great it was. Legitimately couldn't stop playing it. Thanks for the great video, AntDude! Looks like I'll be picking up Mario Tennis and Golf for the 3DS Virtual Console soon! :D Edit: By the way, my favorite Mario sports game is a tie between Power Tour, Mario Super Sluggers, and maybe Sports Mix.
I loved Mario Tennis on the GBC as a kid, which feels like an odd thing to say. Little touches like having the cafe that doesn't do anything, the quirky introduction and detailed decorations all made the academy felt alive to me when I was a little kid. Those details helped elevate this game into a memorable status for me even though it is a very bare bones game.
The Mario spin-off series has really been going downhill lately in terms of sales, quality & critical reception...With the recent Mario Party games, the recent sports games (Mario Golf World Tour being the exception) & the RPGs getting either mixed to flat out negative reviews & piss poor sales. The only spin-off series I can say that's still going strong is the Mario Kart series, with the success of Mario Kart 8 & its switch port & how Mario Kart 8 overall is still loved by both fans & casual consumers.
Meta Shade Color Splash was actually a lot better than Sticker Star. I know that's not saying much, but I thought it was a legitimately great game. It's not as good as the first two games, but I'd put it at around the same level as Super Paper Mario.
On one hand I agree. In terms of Mario Party and the RPGs though I think it's more fans being unreasonable. Mario Party 9 is great and Mario Party 10 is worth getting just for Bowser mode. Sticker Star is just ok, but Color Splash is excellent.
I want to see Pink Gold Peach get swallowed by a piranha plant, get chucked by a chuckya, goomba rubbing his feet over her face, and her falling off a cliff while a Bob-Omb blows her up and Bowser chomping off her literal half of her body while 360 degree up a Koopa's butt while being flattened by a thwomp and whomp with a fiery arena all around her as her pink gold tears drop to the floor and her crown being sold on eBay, while a tack pokes her eyes while the Mario Brothers are forcing her in the pipes, Yoshi slowly devouring her arms, while Wario is taking a dump on her and the same time Nathaniel Bandy finally puts the nail in the coffin, as Pink Gold Peach's ultimate rival, and kills her off, as her body gets burnt... Did I go to far for that one?
Aw, this isn't a video for the one on GBA? That one was made after Camelot worked on Golden Sun, so the character designs, sound effects, music, and even UI is VERY Golden Sun-esque. It's amazing.
Tonyair I doubt Mario Tennis Aces will have a RPG mode. Story mode looks more like Mission Mode from Mario Kart DS but with a world map Also it doesn't look like they will add humans characters (which was part of the charm of Mario Sports RPG)
honestly dude I feel like you deserve a lot more subs and recognition than you have already. you're entertaining as well as informative, the amount of polish and just straight up quality of your videos are incredible as well. keep up the good work, and don't stop being AntDude, AntDude. you're awesome.
I grew up with Power Tour on the GBA. I loved it and it's a pretty nostalgic game for me. I tried playing this one, but I hated the match lengths. Tour had 2-set, 3 or 1 game matches for rankings, while this had 2-set, 6 game matches. I HATED the match pacing and couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll try again, but for now I'm sticking to Power Tour. NOTE: It's been a while, so I may be wrong about some facts, I'm sorry if I am.
It's because the original GBC one is doing actual full tournament sets (6 games-3 sets) unlike the GBA one. For Tennis enthusiasts, 3 games-1 set feels like way too little.
I know Power Tour you can pick Easy or Normal which just changes the match length and difficulty, but after you beat the game once you can on Technical which is harder and longer sets.
Mario Tennis Power Tour is actually one of my favorite mario tennis games, i've lost count of how many times i've beaten it and gotten all those special power shots from beating the different power training minigames multiple times, especially the Dragon Shot.
Mario tennis Power Tour is really cool in that its a sequel to the story of the GBC Mario Tennis. Alex, Harry, Nina and Kate all return as coaches, and playing this game really made me appreciate Power Tour so much more.
mario tennis for the GBC is actually an amazing game, i'm so happy someone finally covered it, and even more happy it was ya boi ant dude. such a good day! the title doesnt do this video justice, thought it was a rom hack vid, wish i knew a couple days ago!
I FREAKING LOVE the Sports RPGs Camelot made on the handhelds....so much so...that when I seen the title of the video I literally dropped everything I was doing to watch immediately...If only we could get another Mario sports game like these
I remember what Bill said but search your feelings. You know that to be false... Plus I feel like Action/Adventure games don't have turn-based combat. Like, they just don't. RPGs can have active combat but non-RPGs basically NEVER go turn-based.
I played the heck out of Mario Tennis Power Tour when I was a kid. It was one of the many few games that I played that introduced me to RPGs, next to Mario & Luigi and Kingdom Hearts.
You are just straight up annoying, the perfect example of a person who does something to advertise their channel, but yours is horrible. Thank God you stopped.
I think one thing to consider though with Ultra Smash is that it came at a time when Nintendo was trying to bury the Wii U as quickly as possible so they could shift focus over to Switch development and it definitely shows when you look at Mario Tennis Aces which had a ton more effort put into it
For the record Rose Gold Peach is my favorite super mario character. But not mad, you make great videos and I love watching them, you're very funny. Keep up the great work.
I freaking adored Mario Tennis Power Tour, almost exclusively for the RPG elements! I later played Mario Tennis for GBC, and loved it as well. Really hope they bring back RPG elements to the sport games…
Nah man. This game was amazing. Both this and the N64 version were so different but instant classics. Also, minor nitpicks, the male doubles partner’s name is Harry, not Henry. Also, you should’ve briefly mentioned that you unlock Peach by completing the main story in “Doubles”.
This was the BEST Mario Tennis game we ever got. I wish they did another game like this. Power Tennis on the GBA wasn't great, but hey, they're both better stories than the last 3 Tennis games. Also, we had a customizable character we could port to the main console. Loved that aspect more than anything else.
Mario Tennis: Power Tour is REALLY worth the play. Please do a full video on it, it's my favorite Mario Sports game (the only one that's good that I've actually played lol)
Dude, I'm so glad you talked about this game. I had it as a kid and now I just recently purchased it for 3DS VC and man it's still really fun to play. I just beat A.Coz in singles and I'm about to take on Mario.
As much as I love Mario Tennis Aces’ story, I would love a custom character career mode. Expand the island more, tell us what kingdom it’s in if the Academy is “Royal”. Have the Color and Advance players present but filling an NPC role and acknowledging their past experiences. Make a proper ladder system for the academy classes and show us the progression of other students, like maybe instead of us always challenging the rank above us, someone two ranks lower advances up to just below us and then rematches us. Introduce story elements that affect the academy, like an accident or misunderstanding that gives us a penalty of some kind. Maybe the “heel” players of the tennis games could discover there’s a quick rising star at the academy and to ensure they don’t have a new rival, one of the series established characters goes over to try and end your career before it begins. Even just give us more involvement with other schools than simply the tournament teams.
I played through Mario Tennis too, it's such a great game! Pretty easy though, I remember beating Mario easily too. There's also the exact same story, but you play Doubles with your chosen partner.
I remember playing Mario baseball so much in the 5th grade that my friends could probably hit home runs with our eyes closed. toadsworth absolutely the MVP
I played this game at a very young age, I didn't understand what RPGs were yet so I actually got to the top of the class at the university before I realized how to level up my character's stats.
I really love Mario Golf Advance Tour, I really hope they add these RPG elements into whatever Mario Sport games that come on the Switch. World Tour was by all means good, but I didn't care for the fact that your Avatar is a Mii and had fixed stats that changed with equipment rather than an EXP bar. But that's just me.
Me: "Hmm, I was kinda hoping that Mario Power Tennis would at least be discussed over in particular. I got an idea! How about a review over that game next, Antdude?" Antdude: "11:53-11:55" Me: " :( "
OH SNAP Looks like there really was a Mario Tennis Game for Gameboy series. I swear remembering playing one on the GBA as a kid, I thought my mind was just playing with me. I WAS WRONG, I REALLY DID PLAY IT LMAO
GOTTA respect an HONEST reviewer like AntDude. Nintendo gives him an early edition and he STILL tells his Honest opinion. *Claps for AntDude*
LeoP2008 The game came out two months ago, for all we know there's a stipulation to wait until after the launch window if you don't like it.

Wears sonic shirt...
At least Mario Kart and Mario and Luigi haven't died yet
MetaJ 92 Paper Jam exists. Pretty sure Mario and Luigi is a dead series.
megafan not according to sales
Considering Paper Jam's great reception and strong sales, I really don't see the logic in that comment.
Uh...
I played it and it was awesome, so I don't know where this is coming from.
And that makes it even better!
*Does a Mario video*
*Wears a Sonic shirt*
Why...
Wesleyem3 Mario and Sonic exists. That's why.
I think.
+Shashwat Bhushan & Knuckles
Why do so many Mario fans keep forgetting that Sonic has fans too?

How so? That game was awesome.

Pink Gold Peach is the devil.
Let me grab my knife
No Haedox is the devil
RyGuy040 I and my friend have an inside joke about it.

Power tour is a classic. That game is a legend in the hood
The GBA Tennis RPG was my favorite game as a kid. I love how alex from the first game was an important side character.
AntDude, Henry stubbed his toe on the way to the player select screen.
No wonder he's looking angry.

SIR,YOU ARE A GENIUS
Remember when Luigi went for the ball and jumped on the fence to catch it.. I loved that.
We need another Tennis RPG. I'd be OK if they replaced the Paper Mario series at this point or just became the third branch of Mario RPGs.
I wouldn't really care if they dumped Paper Mario. Never got the appeal in the first place.
Minus Bros. Guess your prayers were answered.
Tonyair I doubt Mario Tennis Aces will have a RPG mode. Story mode looks more like Mission Mode from Mario Kart DS but with a world map
Also it doesn't look like they will add humans characters (which was part of the charm of Mario Sports RPG)
Radd_BGM I hope we can still have it.
Didn't like most of human characters though, Advanced Tour had a lot of filler in that regard.
Minus Bros. Agreed. I spent hours on Mario Tennis Power Tour on GBA and I want more
honestly dude I feel like you deserve a lot more subs and recognition than you have already. you're entertaining as well as informative, the amount of polish and just straight up quality of your videos are incredible as well. keep up the good work, and don't stop being AntDude, AntDude. you're awesome.
Deos someone remembres Mario sports mix
That one was actually pretty good imo
Oh heck yeah! That is a very underrated game
I feel that only the dodgeball was amazing
That one's good.
I always wanted it

N64 and Gamcube got the best games of Mario sports.
Bruce Fireknight gbc And gba too...Mario tennis open could've been amazing and it shit the bed going in the console route
Bruce Fireknight a golden age and a height that nintendo can't seem to reach anymore
Wii had good ones too. Stickers charged, sports mix, Super sluggers
mario tennis for the GBC is actually an amazing game, i'm so happy someone finally covered it, and even more happy it was ya boi ant dude. such a good day! the title doesnt do this video justice, thought it was a rom hack vid, wish i knew a couple days ago!

For the record Rose Gold Peach is my favorite super mario character. But not mad, you make great videos and I love watching them, you're very funny. Keep up the great work.
But...but we have horse racing...
The game reminds me abit of the way Pokemon TCG for the gameboy works, too which is cool :)
nice video
I freaking adored Mario Tennis Power Tour, almost exclusively for the RPG elements! I later played Mario Tennis for GBC, and loved it as well.

You just explained in great detail how a 20 year old game boy color game is better than a 3ds game... and I loved every second of it!!!!
Never been this early :-O
Really like your channel dude! watched them all almost
I've been waiting for years for someone to talk about Mario Tennis on the game boy and gba. Thank you AntDude for bringing my dreams to reality
Mario Tennis: Power Tour is REALLY worth the play. Please do a full video on it, it's my favorite Mario Sports game (the only one that's good that I've actually played lol)
Oh my god, please make a video on golden sun. Such an underrated RPG.
I've sank so many hours into this game. Played it regularly for YEARS back when it came out
Man, i absolutely LOVE mario golf, it's one of the few mario sports games i actually finished.
Thanks for always making fun videos to watch!
I really really like, if not love, "Mario And Sonic At The Olympic Winter Games" for the Wii. That game was awesome!
That was a good review, and I'm glad I watched it. If I had any significant criticisms I would've put them here.
I loved mario tennis on the GBA. All the mini games, the cool power shots, level system. Sad that they never come close to that in the later games.
That "I hate myself" part seemed more genuine than you like reading a script and that kinda terrifies me

I absolutely love this concept. this game owns
I played this game at a very young age, I didn't understand what RPGs were yet so I actually got to the top of the class at the university before I realized how to level up my character's stats.

World Tour was by all means good, but I didn't care for the fact that your Avatar is a Mii and had fixed stats that changed with equipment rather than an EXP bar. But that's just me.
Harry and Kate become instructors for Mario tennis power tour. I played that game multiple times, and I wish they made one like it for the console.
Me: "Hmm, I was kinda hoping that Mario Power Tennis would at least be discussed over in particular. I got an idea! How about a review over that game next, Antdude?"
Antdude: "11:53-11:55"
Me: " :( "
Well now we’re gonna get mario tennis aces
I forgotten this game! I played this before! I rented this at my local Blockbuster. God, that takes me back so much.
Ah the GB sports games. Mario Golf was one of my most played on the GBC. Good times. Good times.

Oh my goodness, I love Power Tour . One of my favorite games of all time
