@FritosTheBean55 In an interview, Mark explained that it's about a woman named Ruby (obviously) who's a single mom and has very little motivation to keep going with her life. It's a story of how hard it is for Ruby to keep going. Mark is sort of the motivator in the song (when he says "gotta start lifting your head up".) Hope I explained it well!
