My first bike was a 1971 Ossa Pioneer. Loved that thing. Best days of my life.

I had a 72 Pioneer. There is something magical about Ossas. There is no way to express what it's like to fly through the trails on one. Just one of the best in the world. And I had one at 17 years old. And being seventeen I stupidly let it go.

Jim Hollerich was a Magician. I have seen this bike for more than 20 years but this is the first time i have heard it. No surprise that it sounds as good as it looks. Did you notice how Ken jr. got the bike rolling before putting it in gear ? that shows respect for the transmission , and quality operation, i like that. wb

Back in the late 60's and early to mid 70's I was a mechanic for the BSA/Bridgestone/Ossa dealer in Austin, TX. In between my MX days and my Trials days around 71', I bought a brand spankin' new Pioneer. That thing was a beautiful bike, and it would pull tree stumps.
Had I not converted to trials shortly after, I would have given my eye teeth to own an Ossa 250 Phantom. It's sad that the Japanese factories captured the market so soon after Ossa came out with that model, and the Spanish factories just couldn't compete financially.

An elegant bike. Ossa and Montessa did use lighter gauge tubing, as I recal, and weren't as sturdy as say a Greeves or a Husky.

Ossa's were nice. Friend of mine had a pretty ratty Ossa, no lights, total Dirtbike, thing ran like a tank. Probably biased, but personally I'd rather have a Bultaco...the one my Cousin had (Pursang if memory serves) would ride circles around an Ossa of the same displacement...in my experience...

Every single one of these classic bikes is an opportunity to create a ton of traffic. These sorts of videos will get you youtube search traffic for years to come. I used to review vintage bicycles on my channel and those old videos are still paying me every day.
Don't let the opportunity you have with a bike like this to go to waste. You should make a full "time capsule" of this bike on your website and include a full write-up. Professional photos, story, history, etc. Your website could be like a museum as well! I can help if you need anything just reply and I'll send my contact info. I'm a web guy, masters in IT, and I ride dirt-bikes all over the world.

Hey Ken are you familiar with the Knight Rider Historians channel on RUclips? He is restoring the original tractor and trailer from the show. After the show the original trailer was be used by a drag racing team and was heavily modified for a race team. Anyway I know you are always looking to make the ultimate bike hauling rig. The race team put in a lift deck so they could haul two cars and it’s not original to show so he wants to get rid of it. I think he is in the northeast. You could probably get it for free if you do the labor to take it out. Thought you might be interested?

...He ran that valuable, legendary, championships bike, like it was still 1979, and that was the championships!!! A lot of riders baby the real ones, because many are worth several tens of thousands for an unassociated number bike. Team extras, etc, from the championships years. Bikes without a number belonging to a racing legend. Legend riders bikes.... Same high values as their big cc four/two-stroke counterparts.

I had a 1974 Ossa SDR. It had an Amal carburetor (junk!), virtually NO brakes when wet OR dry, garbage electronics, a terribly inaccurate odometer, and a gearbox that shifted like it was full of concrete. It was a complete P.O.S. I almost quit riding because of that motorcycle!
