Super helpful with a somewhat intimidating project. I want to try this on a trio of 2-motor 70 tonners, and your video convinced me it can be done. Thank you very much! Now to figure how to add sound the 70-tonners!
I am part way through converting my 44 tonner, which is >20 years old. I got to the point of determining the black wires only go to the light board. Your video is a wonderful help in completing my conversion. I have user other videos of yours to convert other locos. Thank you very much.
Video was excellent. I think you mentioned that this is just an experiment to see if it would work, then maybe do a different decoder with sound. If you do will you make another video.
Fitted a TCS Z2 decoder to one of these plus replaced a factory fitted decoder in a current model 44 ton with a TCS Z2. Both run beautifully, with creep down to speed step 1.
You could, but there is no need to. The motors draw so little amperage that only 1 decoder is needed. Plus in such a small space, 2 decoders just takes up too much room under the shell.
My 44 Ton switch came as DCC ready with 7 contacts numbers 8 1 2 4 5 6 7 which color goes to which number? Colors Blue Orange White Red Gray Black Yellow Thanks

How about adding two dz123 Decoders, one for each motor?
