I’m excited to see the new PHEV version of this coming out summer of 2022. Supposed to have a larger 20kW battery
I’ve seen a couple around our town and let me tell you they have some imposing feeling when looked on the road ! What I like about it is its “truck” kind of look ! It’s got a good road clearance, good high seating position, nice looks and apparently an excellent gas mileage…. Hoping they have some in the upcoming autoshow, so I can sit on it … let’s see!
I have 2009 Outlander V6 XLS with 226k miles. Only replaced batt and tires, it's been reliable so far. I think it will easily reach 300k with proper maintenance. Go Mitsu!
I just recently changed my 2009 for a used 2019, road noise is better torque vectoring too, they even reduced the weight and the size of the engine I think its the golden era. These 2022 are built on mitsubishi lines but they got parts from nissan so it's not a pure blood :(
Definitely thinking about get one 07-13 as a second vehicle.still thinking this still the best looking generation but unfortunately underrated by usa.
I have an Asx 2010 done 305k so far and as you said only batt and tyres change . Still going hard and most reliable one I had
Back in 2004, I bought a 2004 Outlander XL. I drove it for 15 years and sold it only because I got bored with it. I put 275,000 mile on it and the only corrective maintenance issue I had was a leaky radiator at around 110,000 miles. It cost me $120 bucks to fix.
It is mainly for this solid reason, that a few days ago I got myself the 2022 Outlander SEL. I got out of a 2020 Volvo XC90 Inscription, and into this Outlander - same level of luxury, and this is no exaggeration.
I am loving my 2022 Outlander, to say the least.
massive improvement on looks. I like the roofline.
I love my 2022 Outlander. You should have talked about the cleaning of the headlights on the S-AWC model while using your windshield wiper fluid
Thanks for the high quality content! As always - really interesting review and car!
Congrats on 70k. Hope you guy's can arrange the northern trip with the new Toyota Tundra's. Love your channel!
Thanks! And stay tuned for more details on an epic Tundra trip. Things are happening....
Yeah looking forward to the Tundra Trip. Great test.
I might not buy it, but I got impressed by one that I saw on the street. They look to good.
I honestly can't get enough of this new styling! I haven't looked at a mitsubishi since the Evo but this is enticing.
I feel you on this comment
Truck kin mis-A- crap. Stuck to trucks. Jap crap not your thing the only thing A- mis -A-shit-E good for. Hailing pig crap😢
Those fog lights are hideous
@@levthelion they look clean AF in person.
Excellent review! Car looks nice. I wonder how the updated PHEV will be with this one. It would be a good one to compare with the Sorento PHEV, the Tucson PHEV, and the Toyota Rav4 Prime.
4:20 That is why I've had 2 Mitsubishi outlander SAWC in the past 13 years. One 2009 and a 2019 ( I switched because of warranty but I almost regret the old one )
Heres the thing with Mitsubishi: they actually make reliable vehicles but their dealer network is very sparse and even if youre close to one, will it stick around? also, they almost never have parts avail at the dealership let alone your local auto parts stores. I speak from experiance as I owned 2 Mirages.
I can also vouch to this, have a 2008 Outlander, (in the age before the CVT had truly taken over), and getting some of the parts is a challenge. Though the wiper assembly issue was taken care of due to the recall on them and it only took about an hour to change out. So some parts are stocked, just not as many as one would like.
Get a Toyota you don’t need to get parts. 😂 just basic maintenance…Mitsubishi fall apart so I can see the issue about finding parts not easy since their infrastructure is practically non existence. Under their skin, they are owned by Chrysler.
@@Thankyou_3 That is not true. I bought a corolla new this year. the battery was dead at 150mi it is a known issue. had to have firmware reflashed at the dealer. no issues since with 6k miles now. but my new in 2017 mirages(bought two) were flawless until one needed a new clutch linkage at 35k miles. the other never needed anything. all cars can have issues.
@@pryme2013 The Corolla was probably sitting on the lot for sometime…batteries need to cycle every so often especially with newer cars they have constant load even when the cars not running.
@@Thankyou_3 Nah, thats not it. its a fairly common problem among the corolla, rav and camry. it is a firmware issue.
I have a 2011 outlander. They have changed so much. Mine has been reliable.
I've been keeping my eyes on the new ones.
My Acura’s lane keep assist is pretty strong. I feel like it takes over sometimes and you have to push pretty hard to override it.
Would I buy a Mitsubishi? Probably not. But a good part of my reasoning is the dearth of Mitsubishi dealerships in my neck of the woods. Then again, if I could count on getting service from local Nissan dealerships, I'd be less prone to dismiss this handsome vehicle from my short list. Thanks for the review!
In my city the service could be in Chevy dealership it you want.
Odd thinking , your vehicle especially a brand new doesn’t require much service. Standard oil changes at 5-7000 miles can be done at any car mechanic shop.
Larger maintenance at 20k+ miles can be setup and done once a year+ if that
Great video as always. Mitsubishi is one of those brands where people buy them because of the price and reliability. They aren't the fastest, they aren't the most the most refined, but they are reliable as hell, easy to work on, and easy on the pocket book. Personally the RVR is the perfect vehicle for Canada. AWC, heated seats, enough ground clearance to go over snow. Throw some good winter tires on and the little rig is literally unstoppable in the winter.
The Rogue is rated to pull only 1,000 pounds max, if I recall correctly. I don’t recall you mentioning the tow rating of this new Outlander, but since it shares the Rogue powertrain, it can’t be much different. That pretty much rules it out for me.
2000 lbs for the outlander
@@littleislandboy1 Mitsubishi FTW
Never owned a Mitsubishi before but loved the styling so bought and SE with all the toys it’s a great deal for what you get and it’s been dependable and no issues with ride and drive it’s not a GTI it’s on par with SUVs in the price range.
Bought one and really like it. Well built, rides great, gas mileage is very good. And has a great warranty. So far I am very impressed.
How does the super awc differ from the Acura SH-AWD?
Best looking SUV on the market.
Since you asked, I will say "too much" I think its actually has some characteristics that only its creator could love. Tomoo Gokita, Scorn, 2011 comes to mind.
Great work!!
Ok, so this is the first one that's done on a shared platform with the Nissan Rogue. It definitely looks similar but I prefer the front end of this. Does it still run on premium only? Was the reason I didn't get the last gen.
How they went. From one of the best rally car manufacturers to this is a bit sad. Having said that the PHEV is supposed to be a game changer.
Bought one. Traded our 18 for the new style. Much better looking and driving car
I really like the new styling. Huge improvement on the last model. Unfortunately lost me on the power plant and the CVT! Great review as always.
That front end will turn a lot of heads...and start a lot of jokes.
Great video. Under 200 horsepower and a Nissan CVT may be an issue in this super competitive space.
It's already a pass for me
Nissan cvt big issue
Here in Australia Nissan crapco CVT is notorious for failure
Thats why they have really good warranty
Actually even the old Outlander has a JATCO CVT same with other Mitsubishi's and Suzuki's. Only Nissan has issues with their CVT while Mitsubishi and Suzuki are doing just fine
I don't understand why some people compare the RAV4 to this car. I mean, the rav4 is an amazing car but, to me this is a level above without a doubt. There's no comparison..
Agree, this just looks and feels way nicer, plus it doesn't sound like a bleeder compared to a Rav4 when floored lmao
Like the looks and new interior. Wish it had more power.
Great looking
I had a 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander for 12 years. The car is great and reliable. However, the spare parts are very expensive. $600 (excluding labour) to replace the muffler and $1800 (including labour) to replace the air conditioner compressor. Both had to be replaced between 225k km and 250k km. I sold the vehicle when I realized how expensive parts were compared to other vehicles.
Have they addressed their quality and oil consumption issues?
I got the 2022 Outlander LE 2.0
I'm happy with my purchase
Due to car shortage in all dealerships, Mistubishi is not an exception and you should wait 3 months to get your Outlander.
For 48 months lease and 20,000 KM annually it cost you $639 month including lease protection.
With this price I would prefer to spend $120 more and get Genesis GV70 instead of Outlander GT-P
I had the first version of the Oulander PHEV. I loved it. I have to ask, would you really put your kids in the rear seats of any vehicle?
I agree on the rear seats. I have seen kids in rear seats with their heads literally inches from the rear window and wonder myself what their chances would be if rear ended by a full size PU or SUV.
Great looking vehicle!
It’s a Nissan Rogue with Mitsubishi badging. And it comes with the troublesome Jatco CVT transmission which is a dealbreaker for me. And you could have cleaned up the backseat floor
Actually even the old Outlander has a JATCO CVT same with other Mitsubishi's and Suzuki's. Only Nissan has issues with their CVT while Mitsubishi and Suzuki are doing just fine
Mitsubishi’s Jatco CVT they’ve had in a lot of their vehicles over the years have been very reliable because they have a totally different tune than Nissan’s Jatco CVT.
I have a used 22 outlander with low mileage n I love it ! I traded a 21 RAV4 for the 22 outlander! The RAV4 noisy ride on the highway n the outlander very quiet ride n comfortable! I didn’t like the interior of the RAV4 I had to detailed twice to get stains out n put seat covers on ! The only good thing bout the RAV4 was the gas mileage it did in the highway! I do Uber n Lyft so I needed a 3rd row suv! I looked at the Hyundai and Kia they were over 40,000 dollars no thanks! That’s why I ended up with the used 22 outlander it was the half the price n got a better deal on it
I don't know how they can justify having no child anchors on that back seat and offers zero legroom. Unless you have no legs you are not fitting back there. And I would say the second thing that I hate on a lot of vehicles is paddle shifters on a CVT, if you want the feeling of gears then just use a conventional transmission.
I have a 2021 Subaru Legacy and I hate the lane keep assist tugging on the wheel. Keep it turned off. I like the idea of Mitsubishi's that uses braking to bring you back into the lane instead of pulling the wheel (hate that feeling).
From personal experience, Toyota is the king of quality. Good luck Misubishi in dethroning the RAV. With that crappy CVT better max out the warranty. Nice looking vehicle.
Nice looking SUV. Can it tow?
La trasmicion se queda parking porqe es el proplema yo tengon una I me paso ese problema deme una opinion
How was the fuel efficiency ⛽️⛽️⛽️⛽️
In Puerto Rico i had many Mitsubitshis and they were good. Is sad that they are so irrelevant now and i hope that Outlander sales good. But those CVT transmissions from Nissan🤦🏻♂️
Styling is excellent. Just worried about Nical transmissions.
So I guess they are not going to bring the plug-in hybrid since this is a Nissan platform?
I heard that a plug-in hybrid is coming soon, but it's going to have the same powertrain as the old Outlander PHEV.
@@damilolaakanni New PHEV come 2nd half of 2022. 40% more power from electric motors front and back. 87 km range in Japan.
@@SergioSilvaBramptonMitsubishi 87kms seems more than adequate 👍
I have one on order
It,s very nice suv
Super all wheel control is just AWD with a cool name with drive models like all new SUVs
Not all AWD systems are created equal. Look at the the AWD systems in Subaru’s and Jeeps. They are some of the best and closest thing you can get to 4x4 without being a real 4x4.
70k subs! :)
Not enough power
I'd agree with you if they'd kept the V6 engine on a GT, it's pointless to call it a GT and keep the same engine for the base model. Secondly I'd agree with if they'd get rid of the CVT at least for the top trim GT
When it come to Vietnam?
They lost me at CVT.
The third row is for the dog
Kinda looks like a range rover on top.... that flat roof.
Great review! Interesting and beautiful SUV, looks like the upcoming PHEV will pack much more punch.
Is the CVT made by Jatco?
Probably
If it's the same CVT from the Rogue, then yes, it's made by JATCO.
I love it. Go Mitsubishi Go keep it up.
COOL !!
shame they pulled out of the UK,I would've had one of those
Gm,kia, and now Mitsubishi all have the same front ends
I like this a lot. If not for the unreliable and expensive to replace Nissan JATCO CVT, I’d be all over it. For that reason and that reason only, I can’t do it. I really want it as I love what if offers…but , the CVT is a no buy for me! Warranty be damned because I don’t keep a vehicle for less than 200,000 miles.
Please do your research. Mitsubishi has been using the Jatco CVT in the vehicles for a long time but they have an awesome tune that make them very reliable unlike Nissan who doesn’t know how to tune their Jatco CVT version.
Rav 4 killer? eCVT is built like a tank unlike the CVT in the Mitsubishi.
Mitsubishi has had that Jatco CVT in their vehicles for years without problems because they are tuned really well unlike Nissan who uses a crappy tune.
honestly looks like a range rover, very nicely styled. too bad it's probably about as reliable as a range rover
Mitsubishi is still around? I stopped paying attention after they killed the Lancer.
I stopped paying attention after they killed the 3000GT VR4.
I just heard it does not have a spare tire . that is a deal breaker for me because my wife will drive it mostly, onto the next suv
Ummm…you do know you can always purchase a spare tire kit? You can do this with any vehicle that doesn’t come with a spare tire.
No V6….. nice style though….. shame. Wish they can put that 3.0 V6 inside
Awesome looking Mitsubishi now. I really like the design changes!
Btw: In profile view looks like Range Rover.
Best car. Made in japan
Like with most new crossovers, zero ground clearence for the snow.. useless in snow and off road.. junk
If you want to go off road, get a Jeep with a lift and 35 inch tires. Non of these compact SUV’s have true 4x4.
Can you putt car. Seat. In. Back
Its a beautiful looking vehicle and if i Didnt have tow id ditch my truck and get this rather than the new rav4 and that says something. I do like the new world engine in todays rav4 and tranny but this new mitsubishi has style and looks more upscale.
Yea, because it's a Nissan now.
Is this Nissan drive train or Mitsubishi. People are saying the engine and transmission is Nissan so they don't like it. Is it true? Mitsubishi join with Nissan
Rav4 killer no....... it's a Mitsubishi aka junk at least the toyota will keep most of its value that nope its junk
Why aren’t you telling us about the horrible hood flutter that the Outlander has and the fact that Mitsubishi’d TSB is not making it any better.
Slow ? Noisy? CVT gets hot and suffers damages? Problems after 50000 km old?
Maybe a Honda CRV killer definitely not a RAV4. Toyota is amazingly engineered and bulletproof reliability.
Hondas got weaker in reliability in the last 10 years with their inferior Turbo engines and electronic gremlins.
CVT = immediate NO. Not to mention a Mazda CX-5 with the turbo motor is cheaper, much better quality, and has a real trans.
Nothing with forced induction is reliable. You want longevity? Always go with NA.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Being tied to Nissan CVT isn’t a good thing….
Probably fall apart at 50k
Like your brain fell out after birth. Mitsu has warranty until 160k so it's covered.
Mitsubishi hasn’t done anything impressive in years, probably since the EVO, and it looks like they are going to continue down that path.
Love the channel with the Canadian perspective and especially like the use of cars seats as a metric of volume.
CVT I’m out !
HOT ++++++++++++++++
Mitsubishi > Nissan
The AWD suck
And rogues are crappy sorry to say
The front end appears to be designed by the French people. Definitely one of the ugliest new front ends of any vehicle.
Wait...The front end of the 2023 Kia Sportage appears almost as ugly.
42K???? For a Mitsubishi???
Just buy a RAV4 it will outlast by multiple times and still be able to sell after 15 years like a hot cake. Toyotas are super reliable unlike Mitsubishi, Honda and Nissan.
Do you have evidence to back that up? Mitsubishi are known to be a reliable brand also, I think Toyota is generally overrated.
@@joelcolgate3683 if Toyota is overrated then Mitsubishi is definitely overrated and overpriced. Mitsubishi use to have 10 year warranty and even with that they couldn’t get any traction with sales. It is generally poorly engineered and very fast driving car. They an equivalent to a Mazda what it was a decade but Mazda have turned the corner and building solid vehicles. Mitsubishi needs to focus on small cars first then need to be competitive second and only then they can even compete with RAV4. The RAV4 sales figures are high and it is found on the road running even after 2 decades. I still see the 1st generation RAV4 on the road. Solidly built.
Resale on the RAV4 near the top of any vehicle sold in the US. Mitsubishi is near the bottom. Not sure if that is different in Canada.
@@scottperson9487 It is worst in Canada, the quality is poor and it is sad to see AJAC rates them higher than RAV4 in Canada. Really believing that the general public are not falling for the deceiving of AJAC.
AJAC is Canada are bunch of crooks, they are getting huge kickbacks from manufacturers because Toyota RAV4 is not on the top three rating yet they are the most reliable out of crappy Hyundai, Honda and Jeep. Hondas have oil dilution issues with burning oil, Hyundai are often burning engines and transmissions and Jeep is all marketing hype with cult followers absolutely a junk quality. Not one major issue with Toyota RAV4 and AJAC in Canada is not even recommending them. 🤦♀️ Crooks!
Its very very very fugly even worse than kia
That is one ugly front end my god
