Hey mate go the barra biggest issue ive found is the btr has a real tall 1st gear its insane what i did was put a set of diff gears and solid cam gears on my race car spools at 1800rpm till limiter no vct with the old garrett turbo making 300rwkw on 98 , a stally/transbrake would help aswell depends what you want to do with the car, keep the content coming doing a good job lad
Yep that super tall btr first gear.... 3.9 diff gears and a stall will help alot,110 mph shows an easy mid to high 12 in the lighter e series if you can get off the line with more boost.keep up the good work.
There is a lot that goes into driving fast in a straight line, Tyres and tire pressure and stalling the car up are just a couple that make a difference, I wonder if the ecu can be tuned to have launch control ?
Need to load it right up don’t be shy. Not loading it long enough or hard enough that should be high 12 car if not more. Think it’s driver error. But that’s experience Rex
Hey rex, you could either get diff gears to have a shorter first so it spools quicker bc you will reach the rpm better, or more street friendly get a bigger converter and tires to reach spool rpm on launch.
You need 3:45:1 gears and a shift kit man, 3k hi stall and a beefy trans cooler, it'll launch hard as and last you longer, but at some point you should get a box built or try and find a TR6060 6 speed
Btr's have such a long 1st gear being 4spd.not sure what your diff ratio is but probably need a 3.45:1 xr diff or get a 4.11:1 crown and pinion gear set and get the diff built with a trutrac
The most effective way to get it on boost early is a 75hp shot of wet nitrous. $1200 and you'll be launching. Changing converter and final drive ratio also works but costs more, takes more time and decreases the street/daily driving characteristics.
Yeah the stock converter couldnt be more than 1500-1600rpm stall, and I'm pretty sure the standard diff ratio would have been 3.08:1 right up until AU series II when the pov packs got the 3.23:1 ratio from the Fairmonts and such. I think when I was dicking around with my AU series 1, with the same 3.08:1 diff and stock converter on the btr, the best I could manage was 16.3x @89mph (from memory). I was crossing the line at speed, but the take off was abysmal no matter how much I tried to stall it up. 2700rpm stall, 3.73:1 final saw 15.6x@95mph. The housing for the 3.08:1 diff is too small for the larger ring gear which was an expensive discovery, but I found a wrecked OPT20 Falcon at the wreckers and fitted the 3.73 gears and truetrac. The diff and converter (and a tickle to the s5 solenoid) was a bigger performance upgrade than a Jim Mock cam, home head job and a 3" exhaust.
The track sorts out the men from the boys, what feels fast on the street all of a sudden feels slow. To do well at drags, lower diff gears would be a great starts. That tow bar needs to go as well. I used to deg race at WSID years ago and it's a lot harder than you think it would be.
Definitely needs diff gears, a converter and a shift kit. E series btr’s can also hold abit more power than au and b series btr’s so mabye you can turn it up abit 🤷♂️
the MPH figure (109 or 113, dont know which yours was) shows it has teh power... just slow out of the hole looks like the tune had no time spent on the low end of the map..
Thanks for putting me in the video I’ll come catch up with you next time You left early Not sure if you remember but we used to have same v6 Camry Haha I brought your alloys
The best way around the bad launches and btr problems is once you pull the box to replace it, if budget allows I’d suggest a t5 or t56 with a twin plate Keep the drivability of a ‘stock’ car while having unlimited stall 😂 I’m a drifter/circuit guy, I don’t understand drag 😂😂
Something not right here bro. I ran 12. 9 in my Ba 304kw stock ox and convertor. Maybe get the tuner to bring on boost earlier. More seat time and a bigger burnout to get some more heat in ya tyres will help to. This thing will go a lot faster . Good luck mate
Idk about falcons but in turboed commodores to load it up for launch some people use the handbrake Idk if you were using the handbrake but thought it'd be worth a mention
I'm not sure if the Commodore banksia brake is much different to the Falcons, but in my AU the handbrake lever was purely ornamental at times. It seemed like I was always adjusting it. In my BF I had a problem with one of the shoes separating from the backing, causing the shoe to remain partially engaged and catching violently. I was always a bit too gun shy to use the handbrake for more than just parking after that lol
You're focusing on the wrong metrics. Yeah it was 2 13.6 runs but what was the trap speed and 60ft on the first run? You say the launch felt better. But no way to know without paying attention to the 60ft, never trust how you think it felt. Your second run was a 109.07mph meaning the car has about a 12.5 1/4 max potential with the current gearing
@Stuart Turner limited alternative drives hey. So many better non boat cars to drive pal, live it up and try something else. I have owned an EL and BF and even the BF is no sportscar but way better than the dog box EL. Goes well with centrelink lol enjoy

On the money about first gear, get nearly 100kmh out of it with the 3.08:1 also boost and 4th DO NOT mix
@Puffwagon as i Said race car very different setup to yours and im on dirt with semi slicks
Tall gearing, no trans brake and full street trim. 13.6 is a respectful time all things considered
This is what I was thinking too

Cheers for the shoutout Rex, 9:50

it can PCMtec is able to do it. (i think BF onwards )
Need to load it right up don’t be shy. Not loading it long enough or hard enough that should be high 12 car if not more. Think it’s driver error. But that’s experience Rex
Should have kept the sohc and chucked a turbo on that, can't beat the sound of a sohc with boost, in the process of turboing my xh ute
decent diff and some gears in it and will go a lot better
Well at least you are consistent
And consistency is key to drag racing
Hey rex, you could either get diff gears to have a shorter first so it spools quicker bc you will reach the rpm better, or more street friendly get a bigger converter and tires to reach spool rpm on launch.
Mad engine paired with a slush box

if only TR6060s were easier to find and werent fukin 5 grand
Am considering getting a commodore one and adapting it to my Barra
Need a 2.5 grand stall converter and you will see a huge diference
Btr's have such a long 1st gear being 4spd.not sure what your diff ratio is but probably need a 3.45:1 xr diff or get a 4.11:1 crown and pinion gear set and get the diff built with a trutrac

Shorter diff gears and a high stall torque converter would make it launch much harder
Yeah the stock converter couldnt be more than 1500-1600rpm stall, and I'm pretty sure the standard diff ratio would have been 3.08:1 right up until AU series II when the pov packs got the 3.23:1 ratio from the Fairmonts and such. 13.6 is a great time good work 🔥all things considered
A 3.89 gearset and a 6spd auto with 2500rpm stall & sticky rear 275s youll be running high 12s.
Yiiiew! Happy to see the EF looks good Rexh
If the battery hates hot starts may be worth pouring water on the battery casing too cool it down. Seen many mechanics do it as a part of diagnosis

On the plus side, you’ll make a great bracket racer with that consistency.
Definitely needs diff gears, a converter and a shift kit. E series btr’s can also hold abit more power than au and b series btr’s so mabye you can turn it up abit 🤷♂️
Gotta love that ford roof liner sag ha ha
.. it has a lot more potential! Well all know for sure
time to tighten the grub screw in the back of the shift solenoid
the MPH figure (109 or 113, dont know which yours was) shows it has teh power... just slow out of the hole
looks like the tune had no time spent on the low end of the map..
Let's go Barra EF
Thanks for putting me in the video
I’ll come catch up with you next time
You left early
Not sure if you remember but we used to have same v6 Camry
Haha I brought your alloys
It needs a higher stall converter.
Are you chasing for a set of 3:45-1 gears?
set up a 2step/launch control
When Nuggi-spec / Tuff-Nugg merch dropping? I joke ....... boosting home is a great success in my books!
I think I saw 113mph on one of the slips should go low 12s then again proper set up slicks trans brake anything could happen
14:44 always see this amg at chelt station
The best way around the bad launches and btr problems is once you pull the box to replace it, if budget allows I’d suggest a t5 or t56 with a twin plate

I’m a drifter/circuit guy, I don’t understand drag 😂😂
you seriously did not just recommend a t5 over a btr in a turbo application lol
Lol t56 maybe. He woukd destroy a t5 after a few passes
Waiting on the manual swap🫣
gotta put a way shorter diff ratio and the launch was your issue. need to get a bit of wheel spin
Something not right here bro. I ran 12. 9 in my Ba 304kw stock ox and convertor. Maybe get the tuner to bring on boost earlier. More seat time and a bigger burnout to get some more heat in ya tyres will help to. This thing will go a lot faster . Good luck mate

Amazing job and awesome drag one race 👍👍👍👍👍🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️
Get some diff gears, you probably have 3.08 atm, btr don’t like 3.08 they love 3.7 or 3.9s
Yewww I’m hopefully about to throw a Barra into a tickford xr6
Put some 3.9 diff gears in it! Those stock diff gears are to high.
It would make a killer skid car💯💯💯
Maybe you should watch some tutorials on RUclips.. on how to actually get a good start... coconut 🦄🥥
Lower it decent of tyres and some diff gears and it’ll be right
Ytb 🏁
BIG EP 😍😍
How much power is it making ?
fuck yeh bro got my dreams in ya hands keep it up
cant wait for this to become a crazy sleeper
We're is the camry
Diff gears brah 👍
DIFF GEARS BRO
Good pun emBARRAsing. Got me.
3.7 to 3.9 gears are the ticket mate..
nyoooooooooom
Nyum nyum
restock your au t shirts plz in medium
SOHC > DOHC
TOLD YA YAD GET A 13 YA GOOSE NO NEED TO GO TRACK JUST HMU BROTHER
Frrreeeeshhhhhhh
Ur starter motor is cooked if it only starts when hot
Lesshgoo
Dam 8 months
Wasn’t the quick build I hoped for 🥹
@@RexH I'm saying how fast time went
change the diff my friend
110 Mph in the 1/4 is good for 13 sec..So your slow out of the hole..Simple.
What’s with 500kw barra’s running 13s down the 1/4? Then a Vl rb30 with 300kw running 11s 🫣
You're focusing on the wrong metrics. Yeah it was 2 13.6 runs but what was the trap speed and 60ft on the first run? You say the launch felt better. Yuk ef or el they are a bag of junk with a nice barra good for some straight line drags and horrible car every other way.
I disagree
