I live in rural Scotland and see tourists damaging their tyres all the time on single track roads. They almost all do what you did and drive onto the verge of the road. A golden rule for driving on single track roads is stay on the tarmac, don't drive near the edge of the road. Driving on the verges is a guaranteed way to shred your tyre.
As a rural dweller myself, I would recommend driving in the centre of a single track road, well away from the broken edge because if you meet another vehicle there is insufficient room to pass without some negotiation anyway. Great vehicle and that pod added enormously to its versatility. I always pay to camp, not only for the safety aspect but also for the comfort of toilet and wash facilities.
Absolutely loved it. Let’s have lots and lot’s more electric camper van with tents on top (the tent was brilliaaaaant). Great with the bike too. This one really caught my attention
I had one of my best days when I flatted in Aberdeenshire on a frosty and sunny morning. Felt the air going out of the tyre immediately, rolled down a few hundred yards to get off the road, landed in front of a country pub that just opened. Called someone to change the wheel for me, while having an early lunch in the pub with a cozy peat fire going on. Got on my way an hour later and had a lovely day. 🙂
Driving on rural lanes in the dark is what I do all the time as a delivery driver. At least you weren't on your own without a mobile signal and 5 miles from the nearest farm in driving rain and gale force winds.
I've spent most of my life camping off the back of a motorbike. Doing so from a bike teaches you all sorts of things about what the real essentials of life are; Something to hold water, something to cook with, salt and pepper. All the rest you can get locally. Salt and pepper can go in film cassette pots (if you can find them) or even old spice jars, so long as they're plastic.
Well done for testing out a new camping experience, Eilis, but you did look out of your comfort zone out in the wilds of Sussex. As you experienced our roads are awful, dangerous and full of hazards especially if driving at night. I never buy a car without a spare wheel for the very reason you experienced, the foamy cans don't work reliably, and getting a repair/rescue guy out is very hit-and-miss, especially for a lone female in the dark of Winter. It would be good to put a few politicians into your situation, and then our roads might get better funding. Love the bike though, it is perfect for the uses you put it to. So pleased to see that you can cook, a rare skill these days. As always, a delightful romp through an Electroheads adventure. Thank you.
Shouldn't have any issues getting a sponsor for the cooking show! 😂 Also in the UK, no one dares leave their bike outside the shops lest it gets pinched! 😅
@tooflesstesla Yeah, there will be plenty of suitors. I'm lucky where I live that the crime is low. I can leave my bike outside without being chained up and it won't get knicked
Whoever invents tires that don't get flat when punctured will be rich... Oh wait, aren't there runflats? They don't seem very popular though. I had them in one car many years ago.
I'm not knocking the Buzz I'm just a realist, as a base vehicle if you don't sleep or cook inside then is it really a campervan. You could have done the same trip in an estate car. I'm more a fan of simplicity so would opt for some level of car camping or travelling in and out of an empty panel van. I am a big fan of EV's and love a van but I'm probably a bit of a boring realist.
I'm a big fan of EV's and own a R&M ebike which I love. I also have a 6m Fiat Ducato camper in which I spend 6 months of the year touring Europe and the UK. Electric campers are coming but we're not there yet. These things with a tent on top are a joke. Not at all practical. You'd be better off with a decent tent and seperate vehicle for a third of the price or less. No good for wild camping either, if you get any hassle you are dangerously exposed and have to climb down before you can drive away. It's a case of style over substance. Not practical in winter either. Love the channel but the ID Buzz is just an expensive bit of bling.
Very very few cars do come with spares these days, most just that expanding foam shown on the video. Only new cars with a spare that I can think of is the Landrover defender, but you won’t get an electric one of those for a few years
@@stephenwensley I am about to be in the market for a new car. The defender is not reliable enough to be an option and a spare tire will be a requirement. My choices may be limited. This goes double because it will be an EV
@@orthicon9 The donut is just good enough. A real spare would be a lot better. I guess I can buy something with 4 seats and remove one as a place for a spare or something. I am due to buy a new car and am not liking my options. The only things that come with a spare are huge.

Whatever positive environmental impact EVs have is pretty much negated if you're gonna eat all that meat and all those eggs. You guys realize how much of a problem animal agriculture is, right? Ditch meat and dairy and your carbon footprint decreases by ~70%, your water needs by ~50%, and you need ~75% less farmland to produce your food. That's enough that you could drive around the shittiest old diesel and still be ahead as far as environmental impact. I love you guys for promoting EVs and bringing the positive vibes but I'm real sad to see the hypocrisy when it comes to food.
I don’t think it’s hypocrisy, right? This is a channel about cleaner energy not our food choices Unlike you they were not preaching about the state of the planet but reviewing a camper van that many people will eat what they did & their EV camper will have less co2 emissions than diesel Your diesel comparison is flawed how long would you last in a garage with a diesel running compared to a barn with a cow in it
To answer the question, yes, the majority of viewers, would enjoy delusional happiness with Elish, cooking breakfast with Amelia Dimoldenberg, of a morning! Some, of the shy persuasion, may be prang too. Professionally: A great video & experience, although, it must have been bitter sweet, being outside of the old smoke, among greenery in the quiet countryside. Did you get a culture shock, once back at London Bridge station? I propose a follow-up episode, for a whole 7 days, is a better concept. It would really give the audience & the Electroheads team, more insight. I bet your partner, would love to understand what living in the FLO would be like too. For either off-grid living or an extended environmentally-friendly lifestyle, the more experience & tasks completed, the better! Well done & 😃 congrats on a job well done

Great fun you’re having there, Eilis. But one 3xtra gadget you need is a Ridge-Monkey cooking pan to cook your breakfast in, it can do toast too!
