📚 Sunday Study Day ⇢ Ph.D. Vlog

A Study Day in St. Louis. I had a weekend between my intensives for my Ph.D. program this January. The library at the seminary was not open until 6 pm on Sunday, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to get out of my dorm room and study in a way that would be productive and fill up my creativity.
The first step on Sunday was to go to church. I’ve adopted Bethlehem Lutheran Church as my St. Louis home. This community is so welcoming, and I love how they make visitors so welcome. If you are ever in St. Louis, I 100% recommend a visit.
The pastor at Bethlehem is Rev. Dr. Gerard Bolling. We were Bible Study leaders at the Youth Gathering in Houston last summer. It’s always great to hear him preach. Gerard always likes having a physical object to help his congregation hold on to the Gospel. This Sunday was no expectation. Then I headed to my absolute favorite spot in the world: The Missouri Botanical Garden. I probably wouldn’t recommend your first visit to the garden in January. There is not anything in bloom. But the fresh air, the textures, and the sounds of the garden brought me a lot of comforts. There weren’t many people there, so I felt I had the place to myself. Also, tons of good Pokestops.
I was reviewing a book for my Philosophy and Worldviews class: Cosmopolis. I was excited about this book because it discusses the French King Henry of Navarre in the middle. He wanted to find a way for his subjects to have more freedom of religion, but he was assassinated. Much more to learn from the 16th century, for sure.
