  • Every year, our school has a theme verse. This year, the verse comes from my favorite book in the Bible: the Gospel of John.
I wanted to take some time to dig deeper into the school theme verse, so I asked Hebrew Scholar and ‪@1517org‬ friend ‪@chadbird1517‬ to read the verse with the immediate context. I learned a lot!
Here are the verses we read:
    John 7:37-39
On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive.
Something Chad and I discussed in the original Greek text, there were no verse markings. Did you also know there were no punctuation marks? So, Chad explores how we can read this verse in a few ways. Languages are amazing.
This verse has good news for you: Jesus is God, and he is the source of living water. It is a free gift for everyone! This year at school, we will be constantly reminded of the overflowing water that comes from Christ Jesus.
