To seal your connectors from moisture spay electrical grease on terminals then put a small Ballon over them and then ziptie them tight. Great video!
Thanks for the tip. I will give that a try.
I didn't think about balloons, I was cutting the ends off the fingers of rubber gloves. Didn't work out so well.
🤩🇺🇸👍🇯🇵🏁🏁Never throw anything away! Put away in labeled box! The best sound is on those roads! Still have my 84 Gpz 750, mothballed since 94! O.G. retirement trophy project (Wiseco 810 kit/33mm Kehien CR Specials/Vance & Hines 4 into 1)! Have same 22 R1 anniv. plus 2020 R6! Have Yoshimura systems in boxes! All the best! Great video!👍👍👍
I try to keep most of it. I do, however, pay it forward if someone needs something I have no more use for.
Thanks for the comment.
Digging the 60th anniversary color, gold wheels and Yamaha sign.
Thanks, I have always thought red and white r1's looked the best.
Heck yeah man, that's the exact bike I'm going to get for next summer. Started out and learned on my R7 but now I'm ready for something I know I won't ever experience it's full power.
Nice, i hope it works out, check out my other videos, i did one on getting rid of the R7. This one makes number 5 in my lifetime, last one before this one was my 09.
Nice work. I like the stock can no mod look. Curious if the Vortex rearsets offer up any leg room improvement? I’m a big fan of their rearsets. Had them on all of my rides.
Thanks for the comment.
I am a big fan of Vortex products for the most part as well.
The Vortex should give you more room, I have the same ones on my R6, and they made a drastic improvement on the ergonomics. I haven't gotten them on this R1 yet, but I have had them on older models I have owned.
You can't beat the price point either.
Nice video , and great looking bike.
Do you have a link for the adapter cable you bought for the scanner to bike connection please as I need one?
Thanks . 👍
Here is the link for the adapter for the euro 5 cheap on Amazon.

man the anniversary's look so good!
Yes it does. The combination and the metallic in the paint really comes out when the sun hits it
Awesome bike !! That is my dream bike. I love the looks
Aside from the Ducati, nothing looks better than a Yamaha.
Thank you for the comment.
Nice set up! Had moore do the pop and bangs tune on my r1. Have the P08F1 air filter installed but no block off. Bike sounds hella mean with the comptetion werkes exhaust. Already got noise complaint from my neighbors lol. I have few more parts coming in from motomilion mostly cosmetic stuff. I have the rizoma mirror , belly pan and the winglets ordered. Cant wait for them to arrive and to put them on.
I opted out of the pop and bangs. It still has them though. Sounds great in the down shift. Oh, and to hell with the neighbors. 😄🤣
What groups do you ride with in Denver? I moved here not long ago, have a '23 in blue. I really like the anniversary colors on that thing
I dont do much group riding anymore. You always have that one person acting like a fool. I do a lot by myself. This way I can focus on becoming a better rider and not worry about someone I hardly know taking me out by being stupid.
Welcome to Colorado. There is a lot of good mountain riding here.
Good video man, the bike sounds great.
Do you know anything about doing an evap canister delete on these bikes?
Are you in California.
@@moton8tion866 no sir
Is the bike a California emissions. I only ask if it is not then you won't have these and the block off plates to get rid if the pair valve is all you need.
Great video. Does it matter which plug to hook up to with the scanner? I've seen Red or White being used. You used the Red plug.
Depends on the year. The red is the euro5 plug. My r6, which is a 2020 uses the white.
You should not have both.
Here's a good article on it.

@@moton8tion866 2023 R1. Moore Mafia flash will be here Saturday and looking for which obd cable is correct. It has both white and red under the seat.
@Zac Berg
It should be red, let me see the white one you are referring to, send a pic to MotoN8tioN@gmail.com
Hell yea, bet that things gonna sound amazing… and run so much better
Spoke too soon, she sounds awesome lol
I just bought a 6pin to obd2 for the r7 got the wrong one, which one did you get?
It sounds really good with the stock canister to my surprise. The ECU flash has made a world of difference. no more reving it to the moon and slipping the clutch on take offs, it just wants to go. The stumble is all cleaned up now.
Nice!! I tried getting a 6pin to obd 2 for the r7 and got the wrong one…which one did you get?

This is the one you want, I actually bought this when I had the r7 flashed.
@@moton8tion866 thanks bro just bought it!
Anytime man. Glad I could help.
Outstanding video!
Thank you. I am hoping to get some more videos done if the weather will ever cooperate out here in Denver.
Question, Why did you go with Moore Mafia VS Bren tuning or similar? Trying to figure out where i should get my 2020 ECU flashed. Thanks, love the bike!
It mostly had to do with the fact that I had used Chris Moore on my r6, I felt comfortable working with Chris than some of the other tuners I had reached out to. He took the time and answered all my question. One tuner I reached out( wont mention a name) felt like he just sends a canned response. A comment was made in the response about a feature being done that would not have anything to do with my R1. Brentune was never really in the picture. I am glad that you get a hand held device, but for 700 bucks, It is still just a mail in tune. I also wasnt fond of the fact I have to still wait for a file to be emailed to me, load it and all that, when Chris' turnaround time is just as quick and all I have to do is plug it in an clear codes.
Great info. Thank you!
Anytime.
I’ll never forget the time I forgot to wipe down my mid pipe and burn an after print of my fucking hand I was so pissed at myself I was wearing only one glove while handling the mid pipe If you were wondering how only one hand print ended up burning in.
Damn that sucks. At least you have a funny story to tell when people ask.
Great video! Get the harbor freight motorcycle lift table. It’s worth it you can just use a rear stand to keep the bike stable or get a better wheel chock.
Thank you for the comment.
I have been going back and forth on a lift. It hurts getting up off the floor anymore 😆🤣
I am looking really hard at the abba skylift also

@@TrickRacing
Thank you for the kind words. I will try not to disappoint.
Think the mid pipe by itself might be the way to go for a while. Soinds good. Those tech specs up for grabs still? Just got a 2022
It does sound pretty good with just the mid. Highly rec doing the flash at the same time.
With the tech specs, are you referring to the ones on the bike or the bench being available?
@MotoN8tioN yeah def gonna send mine off to moore mafia as well might get a new seat first.
Whichever set you are not using is they will some fit a 2022 haha
The story with the tech specs, motosport.com sent me ones for a 15-19, didn't catch it until they were halfway installed, they made it right and sent the correct ones and let me keep the ones currently on the bike. They fit and work. They just don't follow the lines of the 20-22 correctly. If you want the ones on the bike, you can have them.
@MotoN8tioN id def be interested im seeing what they look like on my bike. If i dont i stall ill send back for someone that has right year.
Thanks for the helpful video, I’m about to do the same to my 23 R1. What are those screws from Amazon called ? Also what is the obd2 adapter called? Is it a 4 pin? Any help would be appreciated.
so you will need this obd2 connector

@@moton8tion866 thanks so much! You’re awesome bro.
@@moton8tion866 Sorry 2 more question. 1. My obd2 scanner plug has only 14 pins on it, will it work with the 16 pin connector?
2. What did you do with the O2 sensors and its wires? Did you remove them completely? I read that they’re in a wire harness and was hard to remove. Not a lot of info on this…
Email me a pic of the connector on yours at Moton8tion@gmail.com and I can see exactly what you are referring too.
If you still have those extra parts I would totally take them!
I will have to check. I will reach back out.
Are you doing a rebuild?
Thanks for the comment.
I got the same bike here in Philippines…though about Cat Delete since stock exhaust sounds like a gentleman. Still waiting for my link pipe delivery abroad takes too long.
Once you get the pipe, it will be big improvement in sound even with a stock canister.
Probably I’ll just let the Yamaha experts do the Job for me coz it seems very complicated to do Cat Delete, I’ll just bring everything at the shop😊
Don't be intimidated, it's easier than you think.
@@ju-insung2710 its literally like 8 bolts lol
@@FlexFast
It is a pretty easy process. I agree. I think the o2s are the hardest part 🤣
Hey man the cables and plugs that aren’t needed anymore, can’t we just remove them completely? Maybe not the plug near the spark plugs but the servo motor plug, and the o2 sensor wires since they aren’t being used anymore? Doing this soon to mine and I was curious. These bikes look amazing.
You could technically remove them, but the hassle of tracing the wire to the ecu and then getting the wire out of the connector to the ecu just wouldn't be worth the time or the chance of screwimg.something up.
I hope that makes sense, and the only one that bothers me is the one for the exup, I haven't figured out how I want to protect that one from being open.
Thanks for the subscribe.
Mann what a nice build you got! What you think about the Moore mafia tune? And how much did it cost ya with the decel pop included?
I love the Moore Mafia tune. It's a whole new bike. The take off stumble is gone, the throttle response is crazy now, it just wants to go. I have had him do 2 other bikes. My R6 has it, the R7 before I got rid of it had it as well. I have no complaints.
I didn't opt for the new pops and bang tune he offers. Just doing the cat deletes on all 3 bikes, and just having him turn off the decel cutoff, the pops and bangs are more than enough in my opinion. But I believe he is asking 100 bucks more for that option now if you want even more noise.
On the R1, using the quickshifter on the downshift sounds amazing.
@@moton8tion866 Glad your happy with the tune man! I’ll be sending my ecu to get flashed as well haha Just waiting on few more parts before I do. So you still get pops and backfire even though you didn’t opt for the pops tune?
Yes it pops and backfires, can't say if I get any flames tho.
It's going on the dyno tomorrow to get numbers. I plan on recording the runs and posting it.
@@moton8tion866 yessir! I’ll be keeping an eye love the build so far nothing but quality parts
Thank you.
I dont cheap out, and I'm a no b.s. kind of person. If the part sucks, I will be the first to tell you.
Hi. Please tell me where you got your asv levers without red bits?
asvinventions.com/
I went straight through ASV. You can pick your adjusters instead of the basic red and gold from the vendors. They cost 10 bucks more each, but you get the say on what YOU want.
All my cels went off on their own after riding the bike for around 30-50 miles. ( after ecu flash) i dont think u need the adapter/scanner anymore. I went with a racefit black edition 👍 bike is rediculous
Im sure the would eventually turn off on their own, but i hate seeing lights on the dash, The adapter harness was only 20 bucks on amazon and I have had the obd2 scanner for years from my time in automotive.
How loud is that exhaust?
@@moton8tion866 ohh shes loud. I have yet to hear an r1 sound like this. Those guys over at racefit definitely know what their doing. Its alot different then sc project and Austin racing
That's cool, I always like to hear about people trying something different, It gets old hearing the same brand exhaust over and over, nothing against Akropovic I almost dropped the coin on a full system for mine. But then it would be like all the others with it.
I will be ditching the stock canister for an arrow here soon, just waiting on it.
Hello,
stock canister , very nice.
Yes, surprisingly it sounds very good.
Did you have to disconnect the battery when you removed the ecu?
No, I did not.
@moton8tion866
Thanks for the quick reply .
@@Cris-fp9fq
Anytime.
How's your fuel economy with the tune?
I am averaging 37 to 38. I thought it would be worse, considering I beat the piss out of the bike. My r6 is tuned as well and and it still gets a decent average. Yes, I beat the hell out of that one as well.
Hey sir hopefully you see this!
Got the same bike with a full spark exhaust and block off plates.
I saw in another comment you said your bike still pops/ bangs even without the added Moore mafia tune.
So what you’re saying is if I get the Moore mafia ecu flash WITHOUT the pops/ bangs my bike will still have some back fire pops??
Don’t really feel like installing the AIS again just for a pop/ bang tune if it’s gonna do it reguardless
Brandon,
It does still pop on decel, especially when using the quickshifter on down shift. However, it's not near as severe as his pops and bangs tune. If you want it to do that, you will have to have it flashed that way. Did I miss the part where he says you need to put the pair valve back on? 🤔
@@moton8tion866 yeah he was saying he can’t do the pop/ bang tune unless the pair valve is still on, which in my case it’s not. So I’d have to reinstall it
@brandonbeznoska
That's unfortunate but makes sense the more I thought about. My r6 makes a lot of noise on decel, same days it does get old.
@@moton8tion866 I appreciate the response!
opening the opening hole on the airbox(called euro airbox mod) before the filter helps the older bikes a bunch, i wish they had made the airbox the same as whats on these. My 09 gained 1.3hp from it(same day, same temp, same dyno, no other changes)and will only increase at speed with ram air effect
Ah yes, I did the air box mod on my 09 well back in the day. Never dynoed it to see if it made a difference. Thank you for mentioning that.
Crazy that bike would have turned 14 this year. 😳
@@moton8tion866 yep still have it and love it. done 3600 miles in the past 17 months, and didnt ride for 3 months of the year due to extreme cold. Just rolled over to 14,500 miles too
Which part did you throw?
I will have to re-watch, but it was either the exup valve or the pair valve if you are referring to the part I said I was throwing away.
Hi I have a question.I have the same bike.I was trying to change the blockoff plates but when I got to removing the allen bolt in the airbox by the velocity stacks I stopped because some of the bolts was at an angle. How should I approac? I don't want to strip the bolt by mistakes.I was thinking a longer sllen should do the trick. What do you suggest?
You will want to invest in some Long ball end allen sockets. The ball end gives you some wiggle room for weird angles and tight spots. For the do it yourselfer, these will work just fine.
Make sure you get metric. The link takes you to sae.

Thanks.I took everything apart then I got to that point and turned aroung.I did insert the ball end husky but did turn got nervous.Thought I would strip.I will attack it again.Prefer doing myself because some shops just don't work as clean as I prefer
I appreciate your response.one more question. The two hose under the gas tank.Only one hose clamp came on my bike, the smaller one.Is that normal?
Yes only one has a clamp.
Don't be nervous just make sure the socket is seated and you will be fine. Yamaha got a little crazy with loctite if I remember correctly
@@moton8tion866 Blessings.Thaaank you.Oh should I use the ratchet or the long T handle?
All of that to get less hp than a tuned zx10r..
