This is a very nice piece. I would recommend though to make the background wet on wet otherwise you get somewhat blotchy results. Finish your subject, let it dry completely and then wet the area that you want to add the background and then just add the colour with the point of your brush on your wet area and let the colour do its own thing. It will spread only where the paper is wet, not on your subject.
