Igor Krutoy is a famous Ukrainian and Russian music composer, performer, producer and musical promoter. After hearing Dimash sing he came out of retirement in order to collaborate with him.
He has since composed, arranged or rearranged earlier music specifically for Dimash to perform. Krutoy was awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize in 1989. He is also "Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation", People's Artist of Russia and People's Artist of Ukraine.

At this point, you should just scroll DIMASH RUclips and listen to what jumps out at you. Every dear has their favorite and some think there is a listening order...but there is not. Yes Igor was the guy playing the piano, he was also in Diana's video. He came out from retirement after hearing Dimash first time back in 2017, so that he can go crazy with composition that only someone with equally crazy range can cover :D
Dimash appeared here as a judge and guest performer. Igor came out of semi-retirement to work with Dimash and they collaborate together a couple of times a year and bring out a few songs together 🥰

This song is loved by Dears as he sings in all his concerts along with them. One of my favorite song which I learned by heart. But It's your choice though, for skipping that performance. Igor is a famous Russian composer/ music mogul worth 13 billion! He came out of retirement to work with, and compose for Dimash when he first heard him sing in 2018.
The New Wave Festival began its history in 2002 and for many years has become one of the most important musical events not only for Russia, but for the entire creative world. The TV audience of "Nowa Wave" is over 200 million people. In 2021, Dimash was one of the jurors and sang 3 songs as a guest.
The tandem of Igor Krutoy and Dimash Kudaibergen presented a new, unique song in English with eastern themes. The songwriters told DimashNews how this unique composition was created.
On August 19, 2021, the kobyz was sung for the first time on the stage of the New Wave Hall in the Olympic Park in Sochi. An ancient Kazakh instrument played its deep line in a new song by Igor Krutoy and Dimash Kudaibergen."Stranger" was a great surprise for the viewers of "Nowa Wave". The modern song in English has a beautiful setting in the form of an instrument with an attractive but powerful sounding symbol for the entire Kazakh people.
The music of the new composition was written by the Russian composer Igor Krutoy, and the text was written by the American poet Sharon Vaughn. The main arrangement was made by Dimitris Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan).The idea of adding a kobyz to the new song came to Dimash after listening to "Stranger" for the first time. The singer decided that the folk instrument would suit the song and make it sound great. Dimash is always interested in the glorification of traditional Kazakh music.
"I've always dreamed that the kobyz sounded in some foreign collaboration," said Dimash.
Dimash's talent, great vocal abilities and the will to work for a large international audience inspired me to write a new song. Honestly, I can't imagine who else could make this composition, ”said Igor Yakovlevich.

Igor Krutoy is a retired Ukrainian/Russian musician but when he heard Dimash sing he decided to return to work to continue composing for singers and especially for Dimash.
You will see him in many presentations accompanying Dimash on his piano.
The string instrument that appears at the beginning is the Kobyz, typical of the Turkic countries, and the person playing it is a magnificent Kasakh musician. According to Dimash he is the best performer in the world on this instrument.
The name of the kobyz player is Olzhas Qurmanbek. To me, his performance on the instrument has a major role in setting the atmosphere and mood of the piece. It would just not be the same without the wailing of the kobyz.

Igor Krutoy wrote a bunch of songs for Dimash and re-arranged one of his best older songs for him (Love Is Like A Dream).
He was the tall guy in the white shirt giving Dimash a standing ovation at the Sinful Passion 2018 performance in Sochi, Russia.
I gather that's when they met or at least when Mr. Krutoy decided to collaborate.

Dimash is singing in English. He arrives from heaven or a planet through a portal landing in a stranger land that he seems to be familiar with. Probably he has a mission to complete but but being a stranger in a stranger land….??? He seems to have arrived into a monastery.
Then in Fly Away, he has some trouble and needs to do it his way.
Finally with mission completed, he can fly back to his base, and rises up singing Ave Maria with the angels.

Hey Jesse. Great reaction. I haven’t seen a reaction from you to Sinful Passion, which is where, as the story goes, that Igor discovered Dimash. Or connected with him to start composing music for him. I’ve read a couple slightly different versions of the story, but Igor is in the audience and you can see him at the end.
Anyway, if you haven’t seen Sinful Passion, I highly recommend it. As usual, mind blowing. I believe it was in 2017 or 2018. And please don’t forget Olimpico. Composed by Igor for Dimash around the same time. You’ll enjoy both

Dimash has a very wide catalog. Some songs have 2 or 3 versions.
There is another version of "Stranger" performed for a reality-type show he was on called "Shine! Super Brothers". He competed with dancers, singers, rappers, etc. They were put into teams and played games for points as well.

I would suggest you watch "Sinful Passion" 2018 next, then "Ave Maria"2021, "Ikanaide"2021, "Be with Me" official music video(mini action movie). His latest song "Okey" is a Russian pop song that pretty much stays in the same octave (no highs or lows), but has a really good music video. "Samaltau" from Tokyo Jazz Festival 2020 is great and is in his native Kazakh language.

Dimash premiered "Stranger"+"Fly Away"+"Ave Maria" in 2021, at New Wave - a competition and music festival, where he participated as a judge, and guest performer. These 3 songs were the way he stepped back on stage, after ~ 2 years of pandemic restrictions that interrupted his live performances, in a world old and changed, "new ground... new chance to know who I am, if I have the strength to begin again". Dimash himself lost 2 mentors in the summer of 2020, during the pandemic - "faces from the past...lives... I`ve lost... I feel them in me still". Indeed, Igor Krutoy is a great composer, with a decades-long career, that worked with many great artists, like Lara Fabian, Andrea Bocelli, Aida Garifullina etc. He was looking for inspiration, when he heard Dimash, and a few months later contacted him, and they started a nice collaboration, based on mutual admiration and trust, that resulted in a number of amazing songs, that pretty much only Dimash can perform 😁 Igor made Dimash his top priority (among the artists for which he still composes sometimes).
People say that Igor heard of Dimash`s performance on The Singer, of Lara`s "Adagio".
What we do know, is that Igor, who is also organizer of New Wave, was front row when in 2018 Dimash performed, as a guest, the amazing cover of "Sinful Passion". And at the end, Igor is giving Dimash a standing ovation :) And a few months later, that same year, 2018, they presented their first song, "Love of tired swans" :)

@@Eannemarie739 Hi Annemarie :) Indeed, I read a lot of opinions about "Stranger" as well, everyone interprets it according to their culture and experiences :) This is purely my personal interpretation :)
I took into consideration a couple of main factors : >Pandemic that interrupted his stage performances and slowed down his young career (and also inspired the song 'Qairan Elim', with it`s relentless painful news), >and Dimash being muslim, not buddhist, so reincarnation is not a theme very likely for him to portray. He is however set on promoting kazakh culture. The lyric "somewhere in my heart in ancient times I wandered" is speaking, in my opinion, of ancient kazakh culture, rooted in his heart, not about his past lives and reincarnation. Dimash was the one keen to introduce the ancient qobyz in the arrangement. "Faces from the past" are kazakh ancestors (that we see in 'Ómir Óter') forever guiding his path, and "lives I`ve lost" can be mentors, or important people that he lost.
And with everything still in his heart, he sets out towards the future, "to begin again".
And in all 3 songs that he premiered when he stepped back on stage in 2021, after the worst of the pandemic had passed, I read a bit of influence of it in the meaning. "New chance to know who I am, if I have the strength to begin again" is just like the resuming of his stage performances, in a world old and new at the same time, changed after the pandemic. He`s coming back to the stage almost like a stranger, in a world that is changed as well, a 'strangers' land.
In "Fly Away", besides from speaking "about spiritual and creative freedom and also freedom of thought”, he also mentions "you said 'now it's better run and hide' 'run away it`s not so hard'" (get scared in the face of adversity) "Set me free! I want to fly away!". And he opens the song with "All my troubles fly away", after the pandemic, leaving behind a hard time that interrupted his career, and marking a new beginning.
And "Ave Maria" was performed, as he said, "thinking of an angel". Starting with celestial gentleness, and growing into a driving beat (drums) of encouragement for a world that had suffered immensely. Some purists said that drums didn`t belong in the composition, but to me, they play a very similar role as the encouragement brought by drums in "Olimpico" (in a much more delicate way, of course).
Whether intentional or not, these 3 songs feel to me like (or very fitting to the idea of) a new beginning, a new chapter of his career, that resumed in 2021, after a major, unexpected interruption, at least of his stage performances. As always, I just write my personal point of view, unless I quote an exact article. (for 'Stranger' I only found the article on dimashnews speaking of : )
