I've been doing this for a few months now so here's some insight and tips for anyone who wants to try.
1. The amount of digging companions doesn't really matter for getting chests (except for doubling them it doesn't help the chance of spawn).
2. Having the yellow energy meter doesn't really matter.
3. Every area will only spawn 3 chests (but with a digging buddy can double it to 6).
4. After 3 have been dug up, no others will spawn for 30 minutes (at least that's what I've found from my testing).

A tip for those that don't know. Cook some meals to make sure that you are well fed - As in keeping your energy bar yellow. The game says you will get more lucky when well fed.
I do that but it doesn’t seem to make much difference for me.

You are mad. But I'm there for it I put 16 villagers on mining and I'm grinding the heck out of it. You are an inspiration! I'm getting +2 on the highest value mined item most of the time. I gave you a shout out in my video for your awesome research in the gardening / harvesting test. Also I wouldn't sell the crafting materials, you never know when you might want to pave over a big area.

Is there an increase in odds, or some sort of factor that is affected, if you have more than a few diggers?? Cause you can only use one character at a time.

The more of one work type you have, the more ressources you will get, even when you can only have 1 buddy at a time. But i dont know if that applies for chest drops!. He has experimental videos with the amount of farmers for secure double extra drops. I guess we will find out if that works for chests as well ;)

Even IF You get green Chests, there could still be Coins in it! From all Chests, I only got an table, the rest were coins!

I was so hoping this would work!! I wonder if digging in a certain biome yields more chests? I remember doing a test about a month ago with the potion/digger friend. I noticed I got a few green chests in Dazzle Beach.

I love it. Its awesome to see others who like to nerd it out and experiment to get things done an see what works. I have a whole notebook with a ton of notes lol. I only really play DDLV and hogwarts. I love being a part of this community. I look forward to all the new videos.

I actually only have 1 digger buddy and dug some yesterday only got 2 green chests but both garbage lol

I don’t understand why they all had to be changed to diggers? If they are already maxed out to Level 10, why can’t we use the same character to dig for hours on end?

he found out in an earlier video that your bonus for each activity depends on the levels of all your characters for that activity, not just the one you're using!

I have a theory that might explain why you didn't see any chests while digging today. I think that the yellow reward chest rotates between spawned obstacles: ice, rock, coral, stumps etc. And if you don't get one while clearing the spawned obstacles, then there will be one underground that you can dig up. I'm excited to see how the rest of your series plays out!

I burnt through a lot of my dream light on making large chests to store all my hoarded materials and spruce up my storage room so I don’t have enough for potions. I’m looking forward to seeing your outcome though!

Did you craft any of the other type of digging potions? That one may give you more chests, and I find I typically find the most chests in the glade.
Other type?
Ignore me - I was thinking the one in your inventory was the basic one but you do have the "even more" potion. Hopefully you'll get more chests on your next video. And thank you for this project, really looking to see how it works before I start crafting manuals.

Maybe i'm just very dumb, but whats the point in making all the characters diggers? Cant you just keep on digging with just one character?
Digging bonus is increased the more diggers you have, same with every profession

Seems like a huge waste for tiny return.
Well if youre a collector, then getting a super rare item for your collection is very valuable! Of course this is also a fun video idea. And when you're endgame player, there's not much to do anyway!
