Great observation! You're right, instead of guessing, we should have used DYVO in the beginning to verify which circuit was ground, and which was positive. We did test and verify that later in the video (12:00), but we could have easily done that first. Thanks for the comment!

Instead of guessing, couldn't you just check for continuity on the black wire to ground. That was you are sure that it's the negative one??

It can check also a 5 Volts Reference
Yes, DYVO can test 5 volt references, as well as signals from sensors. Just turn LOAD Mode off and start testing!
