In 2004 I was attached to A. Co 2/5 INF I was assigned to QRF the day a An LMTV was brought in to Camp War Eagle and we got word they were bringing in a casualty. I was the first to respond and arrive at the LMTV. I opened the door and saw a young girl not responsive I pulled her out of her LMTV seat her leg bone was poking out through her skin. By this time the medics were there to take her from me so never knew who she was until now. For years I’ve relived that moment and now knowing who that girl was brings closure to that. She was a beautiful girl with a bright future. My heart goes out to her family and I hope they know her daughter will live on in my heart and I hope to one day regroup with her and all those that sacrificed it all for the service of our country and our fellow service men and women .
