I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my beloved Husky in march this year. So after a period of mourning ,which we still do, but when I could not take another minute without a dog, I found a poodle . I had to wait until he was old enough, and I am getting him a sister. They will not be bred. I do hope when you can that you will get another dog. I cannot replace my husky. But I can allow another dog to fill the empty spot in my life and love my new dogs for who they are. No one can take your baby's place. But he would not want you alone and sad. I know my husky would approve if my poodles. I'm getting the girl next week. I still cry for my husky, but it helps to have my new puppy. Hugs to you. God bless you.

I am wondering the same. I got a toy poodle, male. 6 weeks later a mini female. He learned in 2 days where to potty. I have had her 2 weeks and she still pees on the floor and does not listen or try to learn things like sit. He already has several commands down. Until she showed up. I love her, shes gorgeous. But I am at the point if returning her because I cant let her ruin him .

@@mehreensyed8900 always feed them raw bones, NEVER cooked, if you're going to give him/her bones and if it's a toy poodle a good size small bone & never take your eye's off of him/her, I like to feed my toy poodle a 3 and a half yr old either real chicken, beef, lamb, etc with rice & Vegs (cooked) I usually cook enough for two days for her, and I have on hand just in case cans of the same from the pet shop no preservatives or colours added, with vitamins and minerals added cans of food for her. Hope this helps

I just got a poodle puppy 3 days ago and all these poodle death stories are making me so sad... but anyways, she’s only 1.5 pounds rn, her name is Macie, and she’s black right now but her face and paws are silver so she’s probably going to grow up to be silver. We have had 2 toys that were best buds. One passed late last year she was about 13, but we are getting another mid July. We were on a walk this morning with our one and saw several breeds out and about. We didn't really "train" our dog much, but some of these other breeds just go crazy around other people and dogs. Not ours. Her temperament is so calm around others. I can't imaging owning another breed.

We got our toy poodle when my girlfriend lost her dad and then got breast cancer, she beat the cancer and sponge sat beside her for 15 years. To me he was really rude, if I called him he would look the other way and if I called him again he would leave the room. Sponge left us 5/12/20 and for such a small dog he has left such a big hole
I had a poodle mix who was the only puppy his mother gave birth to and was born on Christmas Day. He was extra special. People who did not like dogs just loved him and he loved all people. He was grey like his father and had cocker spaniel ears like his mother His name was Pierre. He passed away several years ago and I have not had another dog. He was so intelligent and easy to train. He was funny and fun. I’m afraid that I would expect another dog to be just like him and that’s not possible. Maybe one day I’ll get another dog. 😊

That part about them needing social support breaks my heart. I live with my girlfriends' parents who have 2 Toy poodles but are shut in the kitchen all day. They're crazy about my gf's mum but she never pets them, My GF and I are the only people in the house that give them any kind of affection but it doesn't stop their non-stop moaning and distress. We're wanting to move out soon and I'd take them if we could, but her parents would never have that. Baffles me.

Just a year ago I lost my chocolate phantom toy poodle. He was my companion and my service dog for 11 years. He was the sweetest dog and most intelligent dog I ever owned. I highly recommend poodles especially the toys. They love you unconditionally, I know my little guy Romeo understood everything I told him. if you are someone that doesn't have the time to take care of a long haired dog this is not the dog for you there's a lot of grooming and a lot of brushing. I miss my Romeo so much and wish I could afford to get another dog but I'm a senior citizen and that's not going to happen right now. Thank you for your video I cried through the whole thing. I have an amazing poochin! Unfortunately at 10 years of age my beautiful Jewel has hip dysplasia I give her cbd treats and she is limp free and able to go for walks almost as far as b4 her hip problems kicked in.
He was probably not socialised enough around children. In order to fix it take some children to help you. Give them treats and ask them to approach him and then handle him a treat. Do this multiple times until he associates kids with something nice (treats). Do NOT treat the dog if he growls and barks or shows any type of aggression because you'll be rewarding bad behavior.
Some children are just bad. My male dog was like that too, but only at a kid's play place because kids there are so annoying. In other places he was a nice puppy. Maybe try a random kid coming to your house and then you, that kid and your dog outside to do something?
My dwarf poodle is two years old and he is the only dog in the park that barks. Lol. He barks at everything and anything. He is really good in training though. We get to do everything the trainer says in a second, first try. But he is very smart, thus stubborn. And he is a hunting dog, as what my trainer says. So he loves to chase birds and bikes and joggers. There is no treat in the world that will make recall command successful when birds are around. He is very loving though, and would just like to be with us chilling at home. Outside the house, you can walk him straight 3 kilometers and run 30 minutes a day, he is still a ball of energy. He is the best thing we ever had in our household, we would nnot trade him for anything. Hahaha so cute
I took my toy poodle to a parlour 18 months ago and they burnt his skin to smithereens with the clipper.Poodles don't yelp easily even with injections. he got home and something was off. Then when the sun shone on him we saw blood red skin al over. we couldn't touch him and had to get a special burns ointment. Suffice to say, large scabs came off for up to 6 months after that. He has never looked like a poodle eversince. He's hair is thin, straight and straggly. He looks like a neglected sick animal but he is not. we got him back to health and he is very fit. he tends to get small lesions on his tender skin which the vet then removes. So people please especially with little poodles. PLEASE tell your parlour to watch for clipper burns. I now no longer care what he looks like. I simply snip off the excess hair especially on his feet because he's a great runner. But people have called him really ugly when in reality he was beautiful before.

And I said ,yes and get the vet involved and the police and any groomer association etc. We both said it would be hard not to climb over the counter and hold hot clippers to that groomer. I know that's not very Christian of us but surely that person could see she was burning your dog. She must have shaved him down without a clipper guard. Those things get as hot as a curling iron!!! Is he all well now other than psychologically? The poor baby. It makes me want to cry.

I have a toy and she is a delightful pet. Has a health problem (pancreatitis) but it is under control by being strict with her diet. No fat diet as provided by our vet. She takes my husband for a walk every morning and won’t leave him alone until he goes. Enjoy your toys!

Our Toy poodle is named Raphie. He is 2.5 kg so we need to constantly watch his eating and weight as a loss of 10% of his body weight can be life threatening. He ate something off puttiing last year and ended up with a tummy bug where he was put on a drip for a few days, He was tested for addisons disease also a well known genetic issue with the breed. Luckily he was clear from that.

Please check into how dog foods are causing our dogs to die from cancer and poisonings. I just got a puppy and I'm planning to feed a human grade diet but I'm studying the best things for them and I know what human foods are toxic to them. You can find a list online.
LilJose 9000 not so much a beware of cars more of a you need to do a better job supervising your dog. If a dog gets ran over it’s just as much the owner’s fault as the driver especially if it’s a small/tiny dog then the driver probably never even saw the dog enter the street.
Depends on the poodle some are very hyper and active but the fun thing about the toy sizes you can exercise them indoors in your home 10-15 minutes of indoor play is usually enough for them to be happy. Still take them outside just instead of 4 walks you can get by with 2-3 walks
I've had poodles since the 70s and none of them have had 3-4 walks a day. There's a beautiful, virtually private park nearby where we walk about 5 days a week (weather permitting). The rest of their exercise comes from fetching the ball or wrestling or playing chase around the house. The option is different for each poodle since they're all very different in personalities. But no! There will NEVER be 3-4 walks a day around here. The long, hot Texas summers make that an impossibility. Neither the dogs nor I could endure that.
I've had six Standards. They can use 3-4 walks a day weather and time permitting. But toys? Nah, I don't think so. She didn't mention bloat and CCL ruptures. Those can happen to toys too.
@NOHATETHO I forgot I commented this, but yes, I did help train him. He's still a bit stubborn and doesn't do tricks but way better attitude. Only reason I haven't trained him more is we ran out of the treats we use.

Poodle are so smart, we didn’t really know how to train them but they seem to behave very much like a little baby, quite intelligent. We are so glade to have one in our home. 🐶
@@alexanderbohart1550 I agree. Twice daily is sufficient as long as other activities are included such as ball games and use of educational toys. They are such clever little dogs and thrive with lots of mental stimulation. Not the kind of dog to leave alone all day though. If working full time it's best to look at other breeds.
My toy poodle knows how to “go potty outside,” on command. So intelligent! She is also crate trained as a little puppy. Unfortunately, she is 11 years old and I don’t think she has much years left in her 😭

We have had 2 toys that were best buds. One passed late last year she was about 13, but we are getting another mid July. We were on a walk this morning with our one and saw several breeds out and about. We didn't really "train" our dog much, but some of these other breeds just go crazy around other people and dogs. Not ours. Her temperament is so calm around others. I can't imaging owning another breed.

We got our toy poodle when my girlfriend lost her dad and then got breast cancer, she beat the cancer and sponge sat beside her for 15 years.
To me he was really rude, if I called him he would look the other way and if I called him again he would leave the room.

I had a poodle mix who was the only puppy his mother gave birth to and was born on Christmas Day. He was extra special. People who did not like dogs just loved him and he loved all people. He was grey like his father and had cocker spaniel ears like his mother His name was Pierre. He passed away several years ago and I have not had another dog. He was so intelligent and easy to train. He was funny and fun. I’m afraid that I would expect another dog to be just like him and that’s not possible. Maybe one day I’ll get another dog. 😊

That part about them needing social support breaks my heart. I live with my girlfriends' parents who have 2 Toy poodles but are shut in the kitchen all day. They're crazy about my gf's mum but she never pets them, My GF and I are the only people in the house that give them any kind of affection but it doesn't stop their non-stop moaning and distress. We're wanting to move out soon and I'd take them if we could, but her parents would never have that. Baffles me.

Just a year ago I lost my chocolate phantom toy poodle. He was my companion and my service dog for 11 years. He was the sweetest dog and most intelligent dog I ever owned. I highly recommend poodles especially the toys. They love you unconditionally, I know my little guy Romeo understood everything I told him. if you are someone that doesn't have the time to take care of a long haired dog this is not the dog for you there's a lot of grooming and a lot of brushing. I miss my Romeo so much and wish I could afford to get another dog but I'm a senior citizen and that's not going to happen right now. Thank you for your video I cried through the whole thing. He was probably not socialised enough around children.
In order to fix it take some children to help you. Give them treats and ask them to approach him and then handle him a treat. Do this multiple times until he associates kids with something nice (treats).
Do NOT treat the dog if he growls and barks or shows any type of aggression because you'll be rewarding bad behavior.

Some children are just bad. My male dog was like that too, but only at a kid's play place because kids there are so annoying. In other places he was a nice puppy. Maybe try a random kid coming to your house and then you, that kid and your dog outside to do something?

My dwarf poodle is two years old and he is the only dog in the park that barks. Lol. He barks at everything and anything. He is really good in training though. We get to do everything the trainer says in a second, first try. But he is very smart, thus stubborn. And he is a hunting dog, as what my trainer says. So he loves to chase birds and bikes and joggers. There is no treat in the world that will make recall command successful when birds are around. He is very loving though, and would just like to be with us chilling at home. Outside the house, you can walk him straight 3 kilometers and run 30 minutes a day, he is still a ball of energy. He is the best thing we ever had in our household, we would nnot trade him for anything. Hahaha so cute

I took my toy poodle to a parlour 18 months ago and they burnt his skin to smithereens with the clipper.Poodles don't yelp easily even with injections. he got home and something was off. Then when the sun shone on him we saw blood red skin al over. we couldn't touch him and had to get a special burns ointment. Suffice to say, large scabs came off for up to 6 months after that. He has never looked like a poodle eversince. He's hair is thin, straight and straggly. He looks like a neglected sick animal but he is not. we got him back to health and he is very fit. he tends to get small lesions on his tender skin which the vet then removes. So people please especially with little poodles. PLEASE tell your parlour to watch for clipper burns. I now no longer care what he looks like. I simply snip off the excess hair especially on his feet because he's a great runner. But people have called him really ugly when in reality he was beautiful before.
He is still beautiful in my opinion. I'm afraid to take mine to a groomer. I got clippers. We are going to learn together.

And I said ,yes and get the vet involved and the police and any groomer association etc. We both said it would be hard not to climb over the counter and hold hot clippers to that groomer. I know that's not very Christian of us but surely that person could see she was burning your dog. She must have shaved him down without a clipper guard. Those things get as hot as a curling iron!!! Is he all well now other than psychologically? The poor baby. It makes me want to cry.
What color was he? Tell that little boy he has a best friend on the internet who loves him very much. Give him affection from me . I just got a little boy that was supposed to be a mini....as I told the breeder to start , he is a toy ! He has a non blood related sister coming next weekend that I think will be a mini. I'm going to have them sterilized so no puppies.
Aah Mary, everyone said to do that. I just can't get myself to do it. I have a toy and she is a delightful pet. Has a health problem (pancreatitis) but it is under control by being strict with her diet. No fat diet as provided by our vet. She takes my husband for a walk every morning and won’t leave him alone until he goes.

Our Toy poodle is named Raphie. He is 2.5 kg so we need to constantly watch his eating and weight as a loss of 10% of his body weight can be life threatening. He ate something off puttiing last year and ended up with a tummy bug where he was put on a drip for a few days, He was tested for addisons disease also a well known genetic issue with the breed. Luckily he was clear from that.

Please check into how dog foods are causing our dogs to die from cancer and poisonings. I just got a puppy and I'm planning to feed a human grade diet but I'm studying the best things for them and I know what human foods are toxic to them. You can find a list online.

Depends on the poodle some are very hyper and active but the fun thing about the toy sizes you can exercise them indoors in your home 10-15 minutes of indoor play is usually enough for them to be happy. Still take them outside just instead of 4 walks you can get by with 2-3 walks

I've had poodles since the 70s and none of them have had 3-4 walks a day. There's a beautiful, virtually private park nearby where we walk about 5 days a week (weather permitting). The rest of their exercise comes from fetching the ball or wrestling or playing chase around the house. The option is different for each poodle since they're all very different in personalities. But no! There will NEVER be 3-4 walks a day around here. The long, hot Texas summers make that an impossibility. Neither the dogs nor I could endure that.
I've had six Standards. They can use 3-4 walks a day weather and time permitting. But toys? Nah, I don't think so. She didn't mention bloat and CCL ruptures. Those can happen to toys too.

I forgot I commented this, but yes, I did help train him. He's still a bit stubborn and doesn't do tricks but way better attitude. Only reason I haven't trained him more is we ran out of the treats we use.

Poodle are so smart, we didn’t really know how to train them but they seem to behave very much like a little baby, quite intelligent. We are so glade to have one in our home. 🐶

They are such clever little dogs and thrive with lots of mental stimulation. Not the kind of dog to leave alone all day though. If working full time it's best to look at other breeds.
