I talked to Jr and you only have to use the supplied mic if the factory mic doesn’t work. My factory mic sounded fine and on the bottom corner of the screen you will see the mic. As far as grounding the unit i decided to not ground it and I haven’t had any issues so far but if I do I will use the supplied ground.

What year was the truck, did it retain the compass, road name and speed limit on the digital gauge cluster. It was a feature offered in the 2018 and up and i dont want to lose that feature if i do this mod
I like this better than the tablet. Knobs over screen any day. Do these systems work well using your phone as a hot spot? Don’t want to pay for another data plan so I’d use CarPlay mostly if the hotspot was not convenient.
great question! so yes itll work good on a GOOD hotspot. I emphasize on good because the signal strength is dependent on how good your phone does in hotspot. Some people say but I have unlimited data, yes but for yourself not for sharing hotspot. You give it a good stable connection and itll act flawlessly! hope this answers your question

It doesnt use your phone as a mic bro, the radio brings an external one but it also has an integrated one on the display that works just fine!
