  • The Lightstones and the Heatstones may be everyday items to the inhabitants of the Matoran Universe, but that doesn’t make them any less wondrous. In this investigation we take a closer look at these glowing and warm stones to see just how they might work.
New Bionicle Science investigations every month, what part of Bionicle lore do you want to see investigated next? Give your suggestions in the comments below!

This was yet another banger of a video!
If you need suggestions for what to do next, here are some ideas I have:
1: The science of Bionicle Light(and Shadow) - this has interesting questions to explore such as the Bionicle speed-of-light(and does the GSR break light speed), the physics of solid light, the science of Umbra turning between matter and light, how light and shadow are both elements, if Bionicle light has mass, and how much light must exist in Karda Nui to power nearly the entire Matoran Universe.
2: The science of Gravity - this is one you could dedicate a video to, as Bionicle seems to have gravitons, artificial gravity, and gravital(I think it is spelled like this in Bionicle as apposed to gravitational or gravity) beams. It could also explore how much force the Red Star must produce to orbit, change orbit, and attach to the GSR. Also, how strong is the pull of gravity on Spherus Magna, and what implications does that have for life(we know the Agori and Glatorian have metal endoskeletons for example).
3: Magnetism - just a general look at how magnetism works in Bionicle and the force of say an attack from Jovan.
4: Flight - How can Rahi, creatures, robots, and sapient species fly in Bionicle? How fast would Kardas need to flap his wings or how can an airship float? How do some characters like Nidhiki and Krekka, or other species/robots like Vahki or Rahkshi fly?
5: Swimming - pretty similar stuff to flying.

    Great video.
I wondered if you could perhaps do one on how the MU inhabitants eat as they absorve their food/prey ( - or even emotions like Tobduk and the skakdi slugs).
Come to think about it how do Makuta get their energy, they don't eat and even survived within the dead universe in the Kingdom for millenia.
    P. S. : Seeing as light vines seemed to grow in all the essential parts of the MU - Metru, Mata and Karda Nui - and even growing in total darkness (Onua Koro Highway and Po Metru Prison), maybe they should be added to the roster.; afterall their light was potent enough to serve as a protective barrier in the Karda Nui Ark.

Speaking of Lightvines, since they grow in the vital parts of the GSR such as Metru Nui and Karda Nui (the Lightvines on Mata Nui appear to be an unrelated species). Could those plants be the robot's circuitry? That energy has to be transported out of Karda Nui somehow since it's the power core and all that.

The idea you gave for heatstones is actually basically just a radioisotope thermoelectric generator - a device that harnesses the energy of radioactive rays passing through a material.
So yeah, very neat analogy there!

@@akumaking1it's not something I've got on the list at the moment, simply because I'm not entirely sure how I'd answer it, given their biomechanical nature. But, it's one I'll do some research on, see if I can find enough out there to base a future video on.

So Heatstones are an RTG of sorts. Neat. I guess with all that armour they wear plus the shielding on the Heatstone you won't have to worry if it produces a few Gamma rays.

I’ve got an interesting question I hope you can cover in a future video: in Bionicle Legends 3 Power Play, we see Jaller using his Calix (the Mask of Fate) to dodge a blast from Vezok. What would the reaction speed required to perform such an act? I know you did a video on the Kakama, so here’s hoping this speed based question peaks your interest.

I'll admit this answer isn't necessarily right, due to the fact that comic book logic seems to grant several characters the speed/agility to dodge light-speed attacks. However, I like Kirito's response to this question in Season 2 of SAO, in the Gun Gale Online arc: "Predict the Prediction Lines (lasers)". One can argue that if you are a keen enough observer, seeing where your opponent is looking or where the weapon is pointing, you can predict where the attack is going and as such dodge it. Of course, that skill is practically superhuman, but it is the best answer I can think of.

Were there still energy storms after the Great Cataclysm? The Mata Nui lightstones kept their charge for over a thousand years after that event.

    • @theknowledgetower208
      @theknowledgetower208  Год назад +2

The storms stopped after the Great Cataclysm when Mata-Nui was comatose, however Karda-Nui was still providing at least some power to keep the universe running during that time, but it shut down completely after the death of Teridax.

If we did want to consider artificial means, I'm quite partial to the idea of receiving radio waves and using that to induce an electric current. The process isn't very efficient, but we could argue that protodermis hand waves this due to being technomagic.

Will you eventually delve into what protodermis actually is? I think it's going to be rather difficult, if not entirely impssible to answer well, though, with how weird it acts especially in regards to phase shifting.

Given how much different stuff it can do, it's most likely an entirely different kind of matter with it's own particle model and physical laws than the one we know. But something like that is well beyond my abilities to go over in any meaningful detail, so it will have to stay in the realm of "sci-fi magic" for now unfortunately
