Pretty good chapter, it was nice to see that Guts is at the start of his healing process from failing to save Casca from Griffith and making his next move. It was also cool to see Silat interact with Guts’ party members like Roderick and is showing he isn’t an evil guy, just following the customs of his warrior lifestyle. I wonder when Schierke will wake up, I can see Guts feeling guilty for her being unconscious since she was helping him get out of his moment of despair.
Is chestnut Puck officially 100% dead? In the later half of Miura's chapters, femboy Puck is rarely seen. Now however, even in comedic moments, Puck doesn't change to chestnut
Idk, I'm still not convinced Daiba or the remnants of the Kushan Empire can do anything against Griffith Sue with his reality warping powers or his demon horde. And even if they succeed in defeating Griffith and the Godhand destroyed, you still have the Idea who can just produce more Godhands. The Idea must be destroyed, or at the very least subdued, but how can you destroy or even subdue God himself? Also I like that the Kushan Palace is based off the Hagia Sophia, but something interesting to note is that the Hagia Sophia was formerly the main church(think the Vatican)for the Byzantine/Eastern Roman Empire, before the Ottomans came and turned it into a mosque. This might not lead to anything and could just be a fun easter egg for history buffs, but with Gaiseric being some sort of Julius Caesar/Alexander The Great and his empire having Greco-Roman elements, any chance the Kushan capital was formerly the eastern half of his empire?
@@LassiM-wx5cvthat's an interesting idea, especially since the IOE was created by humanity's collective desire to create a bad guy to blame their suffering on, only time will tell now how things turn out in the end
I also noticed the similiarity to Hagia Sophia , I do think it was just supposed to be an easter egg but it would make sense considering the fact that the kushan empire does remind me of the ottoman empire in many ways , they also employed slave soldiers and were conquering big swaths of land quickly.
I think it’s a mix of miura’s vision and our lack of complete knowledge on what the Kushan empire would’ve looked like. He probably told mori the general culture and basis for the Kushans but he likely didn’t go into specifics like he would’ve for the main plot. If I had to guess mori probably found it in miuras notes or decided to add it for its historical relevance to the real life Ottoman Empire. The ottomans conquered eastern Rome and turned the Haiga Sophia into a mosque, adding the four minarets (towers) that surround the original building typical of many mosques. It hints that the Kushans are a parallel to the ottomans, having come from the east and conquered a great city, likely one founded by gaesaric or an earlier ruler. However, gaesaric is often held as a parallel to Charlemagne and not Constantine the great (the guy who founded Constantinople) or Justinian the great (the guy who built the Haiga Sophia) meaning this city may not have as much relevance to him as we may suspect, as midlands old capital was clearly the sight of voids sacrifice and gaesaric’s fall.
Well, keep in mind that although Puck is usually able to keep a cheery attitude, he also just witnessed the actual destruction of his actual homeland. It's a different level of event for him
I'm honestly pretty interested to see how the Elfhelm wizards react to Kushan sorcery, especially given what we've seen so far. I reckon it's gonna be like Gandalf going to Old Valyria in ASOIAF and seeing the Flesh Pits.
Yeah i don't think Puck not remembering and not responding to Rickert is a joke or was meant as a joke. It's strange Puck doesn't remember Rickert but he could remember his elf friends and others in Elfheim after being away for a long time. Maybe he doesn't want to discuss what happened with everyone around him with Rickert. Maybe Studio Gaga didn't know what to write or maybe he is like this for a reason. We'll see.
Also it's kinda interesting that in this storyline Guts could work for the "government" again and lead a whole new group of people again, like he led his little unit while he was a part of the Band of the Hawk. He was a "freelancer" since the Eclipse, but now he could possibly be restored to the position of a "general" and his journey will come the full circle.
My predictions: I think we're finally gonna get a big win here. The Kushans are going to beat back Griffith's forces and they will be forced to make a hasty retreat. Sheirke will have a big triumphant return moment in there, probably with a massive power up. She will have met some new spirit or something from the depths of the astral layer. Guts with the help of Daiba will likely get a big boost as well. Perhaps more control over his armor through some lessons or a magic spell or something. The wizards will be tapping into that Daiba shit as well. Giving them a big boost. They will all fight as one and combine their magic powers. And that chick with the big cans will be flying around doing clean up duty on some monsters or something. Maybe they can come up with some sort of baryte/gravity spell that just smashes monsters into the dirt or something. I wanna see some Serpico action as well. I wanna see that mother fucker slashing away and doing cool stuff.
What do you think the Kushan counter will be against Apostles? Especially the chief ones like Grunbeld, Locus, etc. Last we saw them in action, the Pishacha got destroyed pretty easily by the lancer unit, perhaps Daiba could experiment and create a more powerful breed? Kinda like Saruman with the Uruk Hai
Yo man, I just discovered the channel last week and since I'm recovering from brain surgery I've been just laying around watching a ton of your vids. Just wanted to say I enjoy your stuff, keep up the great work brother!
I love how they Drew the kushan palace as the Hagia Sophia in Instabul ( Constantinople) , because beserk has a 12th-14th century time period in technology and culture the kushans are a diverse representation of Islamic, india and Ottoman empires all in one
I remember seeing chains being broken when the beast of darkness was speaking to guts on the boat so the next time he uses the berserker armour we could see a new form or something
Can we stop to appreciate 'And Empathize' how grim Rickert's expression is in this panel 10:40 knowing full well he's going to war with his former boss the very one he knows tried to assassinate him, and had barely escaped with his life? He earned his independence (Cue Millencolin: No Cigar on Griffith slap panel) and now he's marching back into the fire.
I think Guts may be the one to save Schierke. Hes kind of the one we’d least expect but he has gone into the astral world several times, maybe hes getting the hang of it. It would be a great triumphant moment for him too, he needs a win right now, and saving Shierke would be poetic seeing as how many times shes saved him.
Great video like always! As you and others have said, it's not just the art but the dialogue and more that they improve upon. Them putting so much dialogue in this chapter and having it all feel natural shows they are both improving and getting much more confident (possibly also listening to feedback from the fans). All very good signs! Yes, it takes forever but I think this chapter shows why - immense love for Miura and his work, plus the passion, dedication and struggle to live up to the impossible standards he set...
I am pretty convinced Silat has a plan of sorts to face apostles, because he doesn't look like someone who'd just choose a desperate last stand because he sees no other options and not make plans for the battle.
The art is definitely improving as the chapters come about. Looks like we’re entering endgame territory. Guess I’ll struggle with my own endeavors until next time.
I know the astral plane has always been pictured as a "wispy" place, even flaming sorta, if that makes sense, you know, "energetic?" But to me, I always imaging that traversing it would feel like being submerged in ever-deepening water. The first few panels made me think that it looked like Guts couldn't breathe
Best chapter of the "new run" so far! Love the amount and quality of dialogue, the art and paneling were also brilliant! So glad to have more of this amazing masterpiece!
I wonder if they will pick the pace up of the story and rush to an end. I am far from a life long berserk fan, having only discovered it in 2017. However, it seems like since the last chapter that Miura wrote that things have been happening at a far more rapid pace. Maybe its just the way arcs work and were nearing that ending climax but its just something I feel I have noticed.
Unfortunately with Miura passing and not knowing how much notes he left behind for Mouri, there's no telling if this is going to happen. But i swear that if Miura was still here, we would get some plot twists with Daiba just like in the golden age.
@kevintanza6968 I hope so... but the thing is we only know that Miura shared the ending with Mori... so whether he expands other plot lines or not is hard to tell
I'm happy that its a long chapter and not like when they did a chapter of 6 pagers of just griffith fighting the trolls and that's it. if we get long chapters like this I'm happy waiting and hopefully its like you say and it shifts from Casca to Guts.
In the panel where guts is chained in the dungeon, i loved the black quadrant to the right side. To me, it looked like the eye of the beast of darkness, kinda dissolving into mist - signaling guts regaining himself. 2:50
I wish I had read an in-depth dialogue between Guts and Schierke in Astral Realm, like a whining Guts first refused any attempt to leave wanting himself to be wiped out,yet under Schierke’s heartfelt confession Guts also confessed his own feeling deep from the heart and Schierke held his finger, thus regaining his consciousness
I loved this chapter for what it brought to the plot as now we have more of an idea where stuff is heading to but I really wish we had at least 1 chapter a month
Daiba is definitely going to update Guts perhaps with the help of skull knight? Everything has been pointing to such. Guts reaching his limit, the beast, skull knights words along with the sword of actuation, Daiba's previous experiments especially with Ganesha. 💯
I think Shierke getting lost in the astral plane might actually a shortcut path of Guts & Shierke finding & meeting Caska during Griffith invasion on Kushan territory.
These last handful of chapters have looked amazing, but this last chapter blew me away. Not only that, but the length of the chapter and the dialogue were absolutely peak form. I’m more than satisfied with getting 2-4 chapters a year if this is the quality of the chapters.
I can’t wait to see what happens. I am really wondering what is gonna happen with Casca. I personally believe Luca is gonna be back interacting with Casca, which I am glad about and I can’t imagine any particular direction this story goes. There are limitless possibilites right now… which also makes me anxious if the new author‘s are (already) capable of dealing with this power. More than ever I think right now Miura‘s guidance would be most needed but I guess we just need to have trust and faith.
I think Puck is pretending not to remember Rickert as a little bit of jokey grudge against Rickert and the Kushans for taking them and seizing their vessel and everything
For real this chapter makes me so happy that Studio Gaga improves. I had some problem with pacing on the earlier chapters, but I'm now super pumped up and the buildup for the war drum is so exciting.
I’ve honestly always liked the art with the new chapters, a few panels here and there looked a little off but as a whole I think it’s been great. I think this one has been the closest to Miura so far. Very excited to see how they continue improving and see the rest of this story. It’s really building up to be something special
I'm glad that we finally have a new chapter, but for me it's kind of a bittersweet taste. Like, this chapter felt kinda short and basically just confirmed our suspicions, that war is coming and a badass team is being assembled for that, which is pretty cool, but I personally think that the chapter didn't actually brought something new to the story. Also, it's kinda sad that we do not have a date for the next chapter, I feel that studio gaga released a lot of chapters back to back and are now torturing us with the wait lol
I keep thinking about the different types of sacrifice. No, I’m not going down the path of guts using the beheilt, keep wondering what the egg of the perfect world has to do with the overall storyline and how that will play into the end.
I took it as Puck being pissy with Rickert for being on their kidnappers side and chaining Guts up. But I might be wrong. I don’t think it’s an oversight or a joke though. Isidro is still down in the dumps too, so idk when they’ll give him a real joke next
Rickert in the end, jus thinking… “we’re up against Griffith… wtf, that guy when human was a war genius, and now he’s invincible and have a diversity in his army”.
Just read it and it was exactly what we needed going forward: Guts's mental state being shown, a war to move the plot forward for what can only be the final battle, and a little comedy from Puck. Perfection.
And considering that Miura was a HUGE fan of Star Wars, I can easily see this arc ending with an Attack of the Clones route, where the climax will be extremely similar to the Battle of Geonosis!
Pacing here is so good man we are really getting into endgame territory, if they can get on a consistent schedule this could be a really great monthly read. I agree with what you said though about release pacing, ultimately I'm down to chill and let them cook as long as they need.
The bittersweetness of the ending imo will come in the form of Guts giving in to becoming like Skull Knight but Casca not dying, which will prevent them from ever getting to be with each other even after a most likely only partial victory over evil in the end. A good prevails but at what cost kinda ending.
I think it would be interesting to see Daiba and Rickert team up to help guts master the Berserker armour. Maybe combining their knowledge in dark magic and blacksmithing.
So I read this theory on Reddit that Puck maybe losing his memories due to destruction of the elf island. Hence, him not being able to recognise rickert and acting a bit more serious lately than his usual self, and acting less bothered despite seeing guts at his worst. In the end, I feel he’ll forget his old memories of guts or that along with getting vanished/ sacrificing himself. He’ll have a last conversation with guts, because in the end all he will remember is how he met guts and get a feeling of being grateful for the same. So yeah, have a good day.
Theres so many good things going on in this chapter, but we really need to pat them all on the back for the increase in quality, it makes everything in this chapter hit so much better and harder. Being lost in the astral realm though, thats just cruel, omg. I know it will lead to something interesting, no matter which way things go, but stilllllllllllllllll. She was Guts anchor to reality, will Guts be her anchor without doing anything intentional?
Hell yeah, our first Berserk chapter of 2024!!! ...and it's just more exposition for the new arc. What could we really expect though? We must let Studio Gaga cook... but I'm coming to the realization that I will be in my forties by the time Berserk finishes.
Thing is, idk if guts is back to normal, he's still very depressed at losing casca, and unless he gets real help, he's gonna get the beast of darkness take over completely, I know the armors off guts now, and that helped a bit, but who knows how strong the beast is now even without the armor on
That 'to be continued' without a date was painfulllll. See you all in half a year

Doubt it, it’s just something Muira would of been an expert at showing puck’s response but they are keeping the manga neural
I was getting pretty sick of chestnut Puck to be honest. Really the only thing from Miura that was starting to bother me.
Chestnut Park was a miura
Thing, so I guess it does die with him
I'm Finna tat chestnut puck in remembrance 🕯
Chestnut may appear at some point.
Well thank god, I hated that aspect
I like to think that the IOE can be defeated with collective faith in a benevolent God.
Gaiserik is more of a parralel for Charlemagne, and his empire never stretched so far east. Cool theory though
mark my words: something is going on with Puck, from elf island when he disappeared during the mess. He knows / plans something
Waiting for the inevitable "Puck did nothing wrong." meme after he commits some horrible atrocity.
Where was puck during the lost children arc again? Or am I just drunk?
Puck is the secret lover of Griffith
@deseasedracoon thought so… just trying to mentally backtrack and see if there are any other absences of puck that would be suspicious
Well, keep in mind that although Puck is usually able to keep a cheery attitude, he also just witnessed the actual destruction of his actual homeland. It's a different level of event for him
What an amazing chapter, my fucking god, i only have one question...where is Erica?
Let's hope that her and Puck accompany Rickert If he goes talk to Guts by himself!
Maybe Sheirke will meet The Idea of Evil. (or it's good counterpart, whatever that is)
4 elemental kings , Flora , Positive God hand.
I'm honestly pretty interested to see how the Elfhelm wizards react to Kushan sorcery, especially given what we've seen so far. I reckon it's gonna be like Gandalf going to Old Valyria in ASOIAF and seeing the Flesh Pits.
This is the weirdest reference I've seen, but yeah, it's kinda like that!
Gandalf going to old Valyria are u mixing asoiaf with lord of the rings or something?
@@femto5539 I mean... yeah.
Great insight.
My predictions:
I think we're finally gonna get a big win here.
Can we stop to appreciate 'And Empathize' how grim Rickert's expression is in this panel 10:40 knowing full well he's going to war with his former boss the very one he knows
tried to assassinate him, and had barely escaped with his life? He earned his independence (Cue Millencolin: No Cigar on Griffith slap panel) and now he's marching back into the fire.
Silat's army isn't going to even be able to touch Griffith's army.
Puck doesn't remember because he got his own memory back... Because he is the elf king
For real!?
Nah
I am in love with the Kushan city - especially the Hagia Spohia
I think Guts may be the one to save Schierke. Hes kind of the one we’d least expect but he has gone into the astral world several times, maybe hes getting the hang of it. It would be a great triumphant moment for him too, he needs a win right now, and saving Shierke would be poetic seeing as how many times shes saved him.
Schierke's reassuring smile has me worried idk why 😭
6:38 I think this is how everybody reacted to that page😂
It’s Berserkin time? No, it’s dialogue. 🗣️
Is it me or is that the beast of darkness on Guts shirt 2:44 ? I just see 2 eyes and sharp teeth.
i see it too, good eye
you're reaching lil bro
Great video like always! As you and others have said, it's not just the art but the dialogue and more that they improve upon. Them putting so much dialogue in this chapter and having it all feel natural shows they are both improving and getting much more confident (possibly also listening to feedback from the fans). All very good signs!
Yes, it takes forever but I think this chapter shows why - immense love for Miura and his work, plus the passion, dedication and struggle to live up to the impossible standards he set...
The only chapter of 2024 😂. Miura still lives on 😂
I am pretty convinced Silat has a plan of sorts to face apostles, because he doesn't look like someone who'd just choose a desperate last stand because he sees no other options and not make plans for the battle.
The art is definitely improving as the chapters come about. Looks like we’re entering endgame territory. Guess I’ll struggle with my own endeavors until next time.
I'm so glad we got a lot of dialogues to fill in information. I hope we get more Guts content next time.
I know the astral plane has always been pictured as a "wispy" place, even flaming sorta, if that makes sense, you know, "energetic?"
But to me, I always imaging that traversing it would feel like being submerged in ever-deepening water. The first few panels made me think that it looked like Guts couldn't breathe
Berserk is one of the only things that interests me nowadays
the list of potential behelit users grows
Best chapter of the "new run" so far! Love the amount and quality of dialogue, the art and paneling were also brilliant!
So glad to have more of this amazing masterpiece!
I forgot we were getting a new chapter this month thanks Ryan
I wonder if they will pick the pace up of the story and rush to an end. I am far from a life long berserk fan, having only discovered it in 2017. However, it seems like since the last chapter that Miura wrote that things have been happening at a far more rapid pace. Maybe its just the way arcs work and were nearing that ending climax but its just something I feel I have noticed.
Unfortunately with Miura passing and not knowing how much notes he left behind for Mouri, there's no telling if this is going to happen.
But i swear that if Miura was still here, we would get some plot twists with Daiba just like in the golden age.
It could happen.
@kevintanza6968 I hope so... but the thing is we only know that Miura shared the ending with Mori... so whether he expands other plot lines or not is hard to tell
I doubt Miura left notes at all.
@@push935 he left a number of memorandums, according to Koji Mori.
@@martinnevarez242 that’s good to hear
I had to search for this . Should of been top 5 results to get Ryan review of 376
I loved this chapter for what it brought to the plot as now we have more of an idea where stuff is heading to but I really wish we had at least 1 chapter a month
I think the silat said their island varnished like a fairy tail or something poetic like that and this was just a bad translation
I have a feeling daiba is going to be needed to rescue shirkeh, in some capacity, however you spell their names.
Couldnt wait for your review. Great review as always
Daiba and Guts on the same side is scary. Then team members like Salat, Shierke, Serpico. Quite a formidable gang being formed
Always enjoy Ryan's Reviews ❤
Been waiting for dis mug for a minute💪🏾
Just not sure where this is headed but I feel like crazy stuff is on the brink. I’m here for it
It's sad how Count pointed out Puck's eloquence in the beginning and now he's basically mentally ill
I keep thinking about the different types of sacrifice. No, I’m not going down the path of guts using the beheilt, keep wondering what the egg of the perfect world has to do with the overall storyline and how that will play into the end.
My guess is he was dlowly going that skull knight realm. Maybe skull knight current armor keeps him whole to a degree
I took it as Puck being pissy with Rickert for being on their kidnappers side and chaining Guts up. But I might be wrong. I don’t think it’s an oversight or a joke though. Isidro is still down in the dumps too, so idk when they’ll give him a real joke next
Rickert in the end, jus thinking… “we’re up against Griffith… wtf, that guy when human was a war genius, and now he’s invincible and have a diversity in his army”.
im afraid the final chapters will hurt my feelings but im excited for it, this war will be ugly in a good way.
Put your Grasses on and Keep Struggling Gentlemen
GUTS = #1 protagonist in manga/anime history
This intro is just great. The edit is amazing. Great video as always Ryan.
I really enjoyed this chapter, can’t wait for the next chapter probably in 2027
Great chapter. It feels like Berserk to me. It’ll never be the same, but I’m happy with it. They are definitely trying and it’s good.
One of the best parts of a new chapter is a new Ryan video
So I read this theory on Reddit that Puck maybe losing his memories due to destruction of the elf island. Hence, him not being able to recognise rickert and acting a bit more serious lately than his usual self, and acting less bothered despite seeing guts at his worst. In the end, I feel he’ll forget his old memories of guts or that along with getting vanished/ sacrificing himself. He’ll have a last conversation with guts, because in the end all he will remember is how he met guts and get a feeling of being grateful for the same.
So yeah, have a good day.
Finally learned a bit about what’s happening, but my girl Schierke!! Noooooo!! She’s stuck in the astral plane.
This chapter was great! Also I hope morta becomes part of the main group
Just finished rereading the whole manga to prepare for this new chapter, always worth it to go on the journey once more
The artstyle truly is getting better and better
Began my berserk read in my teens. Now I'm 40 plus.... i'm still waiting for chunks of chapters to drop before i read them.
Same. 38 though.
