Colin “when are Lincoln Riley and Ryan Day going to the NFL” cowherd
There have been too many examples of college coaches trying to move up to the NFL. Nick Saban comes to mind. Some guys are better suited to college. Ryan Day has already coached in the NFL and chose to be at the college-level. If I am at a premier college program, Dabo, Ryan and Lincoln Riley, I am going to run my program and not have to deal with an owner who meddles. All three of those guys can coach for years, not have to worry about getting fired in 2 years and command huge money. NFL stands for “Not For Long”

That's really not true though. The Bengals have way more talent than the Jets did. That should've been apparent when the Jets scored 6 points against them last year. I just think it's funny that Colin's acting like Cincinnati is cool now when he shat on the team all offseason trying to get Burrow to not play there saying it wouldn't work.
He really said the Bengals should trade the pick. They were smart. And now he's praising them for doing the opposite of what he said they should do. Should at least be in the Colin wrong segment lol.

@@joshuamarrero8382 he didn’t play FB last year to fit with Gattis’ more modern system but he found a way to use him this year. Let’s hope some coach in the NFL finds a way to use FBs 😂

probably not his best coaching staff either. Bottom line with Harbaugh is that his job#1 was to develop decent QB play. It is not improved. Failure. They let a 5 star guy go, to play a 3 star who they don't even trust to run a 2 minute drill, choosing instead to burn precious time running dink and dunk plays with time running out. No evidence of confidence in the downfield game after 2 games.

I really like Joel Klatt, but this is a huge overreaction. For him to say that this may be Michigan's best team after one game is ridiculous. Let's see how the season plays out against tougher competition and we can go from there.

@@kylelittle8816 The expectation is title or bust for them and they're struggling to even cover the spread let alone beat their rival on a yearly basis. Signing Jim Harbaugh was a move where they expected to be a title contender, not one where they'd be content to be top 15. Program is a joke.

Most of the fan base is not in denial that this isn’t and hasn’t been a top 5 program for a long time. Most are grateful for Harbaugh and going 9-3 each year because it’s better than Rich Rod or Hoke, but losing to OSU every year is absolutely brutal.
As good as Joel is at college football, my dream is to have him announcing the pro stuff! Imagine him doing an NFL game.

I'm gonna contest Klatt on his point of the Jets being a better landing location than Cincy; you can knock on Burrow having one win there, but he's kept that Bengals team _competitive_ . And I can give you another example: LA Chargers, Justin Herbert. Herbert's got one win too - and you wanna knock _Joe Burrow_ ? He's done the same thing as Burrow - keeping that Bolts team competitive; he took the Chiefs to the limit (he didn't win, but he went punch-for-punch with Mahomes). And I'm not certain the Jets will be getting slam-dunk picks around, so long as Adam Gase is there.
Addendum: If the Jets manage to get Lincoln Riley (somehow) or Eric Bieniemy (more likely) onboard, I would definitely consider going there, if I were Trevor Lawrence.
I don't think he was knocking Burrow at all, I think he was talking about the history of the Bengals as an organization. Kinda like the LA Clippers forever, they had some good players, maybe a few decent coaches, but the two constants were that they never won anything and Donald Sterling. Get rid of Sterling, look what happens. Burrow is great, no question.
This video got me to go back and watch Michigan play and what I noticed was the incompetence of their opponent. Calling this team great at this point is WAY premature.

As a Wolverines fan, I would like everyone to temper down their expectations. It's nice that it looks like we finally got a QB, but it was just one game. Let's see what they look like against OSU. I don't expect them to win, at all, but they are the test to see how much we've grown.

Michigan fan here. I think Klatt has a great point. This rivalry was close and even trending towards Michigan 3-4 years ago after that crushing OT game. Since then, Michigan had the elite defense only for OSU to straight embarrass them. Michigan's only chance to get to Ohio State's level is with a team that's elite on both sides of the ball. Shea was a disaster, in fact every QB since Jake Rudock has been a disaster. I don't think Michigan is ready to challenge the Buckeyes this season, but I think its finally going to start trending back towards making this a real rivalry again starting this year. Let's be honest, it hasn't been much of a rivalry as of late.

I think John Harbaugh has done an amazing job at Michigan. Maybe not wins wise, but he really brought that program back from the dead. They were never the same after losing to Appalachian State all those years ago. They weren’t winning, they weren’t getting recruits and there was nothing going on in that program. Jim Harbaugh came and so did the hype. They started signing 4 and 5 Star Recruits, they started building hype and in his 2nd Year at Michigan they were already talked about being in the National Championship. When Shea Patterson came (former #1 QB in the Country). That didn’t pan out our course but none of that would’ve happened if Jim Harbaugh didn’t came. He brought that program back from the dead...
@Him Him Back then following the loss to Appalachian State was Lloyd Carr's last season. Rich Rodriguez took over and they won 3 games in 2008, 5 games in 2009, and barely got bowl eligible with 7 wins in 2009. They were not getting the same 4 and 5 Star recruits during that time. They weren't even in the Top 20 for that last year...

What a difference a Saturday makes.
Bengals may only have 1 win but they are definitely headed in the right direction. They’ve had leads late or a chance to win at the end of the game aside from the Ravens. They are still trying to change the culture into a winning culture. But they’re young and just need to learn how to close out games. They could very easily be 4-2 or 5-1. If people actually watched the games they’d know.

This was better with the banter cooled down a bit. Still had the back and forth trying to one up, but it wasnt central to Joel being the guest. The content was first the banter was secondary. Thats just the right balance.

The jets have sooo much worse of a roster than the bengals. The number 3 and 4 receivers for the bengals are Mike Williams and John Ross III. They are both better than any receiver on the jets when crowded is hurt (which he is most of the time)
We've lost for twenty years.....perhaps it's best we don't speculate until we actually do it, which i believe is never again.

I still think our ceiling is beating State regularly for awhile and splitting with PSU and Wisconsin. So basically the same as the last two decades with a little edge on Sparty.
FYI: Michigan is paying Jim Harbaugh $3 M more per season ($7.5 M/season) than Ohio State is paying Ryan Day ($4.5 M/season) and $1 M more than Oklahoma is paying Lincoln Riley ($6.5 M/season). Harbaugh is the 4th highest paid coach in the entire country. And these folks are saying he's not being paid to make Michigan a perennial national contender?
Klatt is always very quick to the Michigan bandwagon. Having watched the game, I think it is much more likely a reflection of how bad Minnesota will be this year than how good Michigan will be.
