Going forward I feel like you should also take into account that wotc charges $9 for shipping that gets added onto the price tag.
If WotC keep up this release schedule we're all going to need hair loss treatment.

Actually, it's just about 1.4 per week! Because WotC hates their players.
I mean, if my math is right, this is going to end up around about one Secret Lair release every four days and eight hours, relentlessly, throughout 2022.
"One a week? Those are rookie numbers, hold my curled tacofoils."
I legitimately didn't know that about half of these were a thing. This is the first time that I am discovering that quite a few of these secret layers exist

@@DerronOfCairon WotC changed shipping companies sometime earlier this year and made the postage cost about triple what it was before. And funnily enough that was when I stopped buying Secret Lairs.
In Europe shipping is free if you are above 100€^^
Fun fact: in my country, you can't even find singles, we have to order them from Germany, England or America
Secret Lairs for lands really should include enough for a reasonable mana base at least

I would want at least, say, 10 copies per land. 20 would be even better.
100%, the fact that we get 5 lands is a joke - in what format is that ever acceptable?
Considering wizards, I'd say dollar per land? That seems to be what some of the more niche basics sell for. But hey if they could give more for your money go for it

If they wanted, Hasbro absolutely could do a Christmas Carol secret lair, since the story is in the public domain.
Could use it as a chance to reprint Smothering Tithe, showing Scrooge shaking down peasants for their debts.
Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, could match well to a lot of cards. Tiny Tim? Could be a mana dork?

I like the retro border style cards and the textured foil styling, so the Dan Frazier talismans were my two buys this year.

I run a Slimefoot the Stowaway aristocrats EDH deck, ive always had a soft spot for the mushrooms, I caved and bought my first secret lair when they announced "welcome to the fungal" and im not gonna lie, im pretty excited about them.

I think you actually missed one Secret Lair in your list - the Dragon Drop with the deckbox etc, that came out with the DnD Commander Set, that had all the Adventures dragons in it. It wasn’t sold on WotCs website
Junji Ito made me want to buy secret Lairs again.
After several years of secret lairs, the Warhammer ones were the first to get me excited enough to buy. Magic will always be my #1 hobby, but Warhammer is a close second, and I was over the moon to see two of my favorite things mashed together. Having Magic releases that feel like they were made for me in particular was one of the best experiences of the entire year.
The deadpan list at the beginning was great, but the rant at 15:44 is what really got me laughing. Great video.

They're incomprehensible for new players and far from easily decipherable for anyone.
One thing I like about MtG is "Reading the card (usually) explains the card", but my friends then point out that I like keywords as a design.
Inherent rules for different card types and keywords enlarges the barrier for entry into a game. There's always going to be a rules teach no matter how much you put on the cards, you can't avoid that by writing the rules for summoning sickness on every card that mentions the creature card type.
I actually want the Scarab God bonus card but I don't like this drop enough to spend 200
Spend 70 for the card.

The best part of the Secret Lairs is the video we got out of them from Tolarian Community College.
The only ones I bought were the Dan Frazier talismans. I'm a sucker for the old-school look and Dan's artwork is iconic.
Same, they really sniped me with that one. I even got Dan to sign my Fellwar Stone 😄
Those are nice. Sadly the Frazier Signets had way more of a sheen to them. They chose a very rough texture to foil the Talismans. In a deck that has both sets in foil they feel a little mismatched.

Great video prof. I miss the new secret lair alert, new secret lair alert , new secret lair alert skit though , I ordered the just add milk because of Ulamog and for transformers Megatron vs Optimus Prime mainly for Blightsteel
My favorite secret lair this year was the May Capenna Release Gilded Foils of Breya, Atraxa and Yidris, though the Megatron, Allspark and Optimus are a one second imo
The artists series were some of the coolest things.
I wish they would sell prints/posters of the secretlair art, I dont always want the cards to play but Id enjoy the art on my wall

I always look forward to the Extra life lairs. I always do the gaming marathon with them and am happy to do so. This is another way to support them, and I get cool cards with some amazing art that lets me talk about extra life more!

It's 2024. We don't have regular sets anymore. LGSs are over, just some that still sells commander anthology and Flesh and Blood are still up and receive occasional players. Now Hasbro/wizards only releases are secret lairs that drop every week. Standard is no more. Modern is a nostalgic memory. Legacy is a glimpse of the past. Pauper and Commander only exists at few places and we play them in hiding. But next week we are going to have Secret Lair: Home Improvement and we expect Secret Lair: Full House to drop Early February...

Oh professor, you shouldn’t underestimate the soldier tribal, it might surprise you, it certainly caught a number of people by surprise at the modern side events I attended in a GP before the whole virus thing.
