Thanks for checking out the Maids again! “Domination” is kinda a prerequisite for understanding what they do. Perfect rocking pop call and response showcase. And most importantly, like you said, DYNAMICS! Band Maid sets the bar so damn high, every song is a rollercoaster. Inside joke: when they all went on the drum riser, it was during the most difficult drum part in the song. (There’s an isolated video on it) “Hengao” is Japanese for “funny faces” and they are making funny faces at Akane, trying to get her to make a mistake. They love messing with each other on stage and off. (Go back and you can barely see MISA’s massive attempt at an overbite face) “Domination” was their 2022 concert closer. In 2023, it was every set opener. Pretty much an awesome fan participation banger no matter where they put it. I really enjoyed this reaction from you guys because you catch so much of what they’re doing on the first listen! Looking forward to hearing where you go from here. “Sayonakidori” is okay. Great reaction -again! - and great analysis too. The only other acoustic song from their Dec 2021 set that is available on YT is CATHARSIS - ruclips.net/video/tx9h41gaNo0/видео.html . It includes all 5 band members and is very good (like it could ever be anything else!). 🤘🤘At 09:24 - MISA, the bassist, Kanami the lead guitarist and composer, and Miku the rhythm guitarist and founder of the band, are playing Hengao - "strange faces" - with Akane the drummer, which is making funny faces to try and put someone off. Akane, of course, laughs along while not missing a beat. It shows the ladies' confidence in each others' abilities that they can fool around like this while all of them slam out note-perfect Rock at full tilt. At 11:44 - MISA the bassist is holding her plectrum in her curled finger so she can produce it and switch from slapping to picking in half a nanosecond. At 12:48 - Akane hitting two separate beats on her double kick pedals while simultaneously continuing the song melody on her snare, toms and cymbal - while smiling broadly! At 13:51 - A brief glimpse of Kanami laying down one sweet rolling chord pattern - pure class. THE best live Rock band on Earth. And beyond.
Saiki (psych-ee) nicknamed Ice Princess or Psycho by band. She's so supportive of the other members. Before they were allowed to do their own compositions she kept Mincho (Kanami) going. Kanami had been writing and submitting music only to have the label reject it. She thought about giving up writing. Saiki told Kanami to keep writing and one day they would be doing their own comps. This is the reason why Kanami adores Saiki. Of course, we all do. Thank you Saiki for being so supportive of Mincho.
Great comment! There was a time when her compositions were being rejected and it affected Kanami to where she got writers block, Saiki and the band members pushed her and they wrote start over! A simple song that turned out to flourish into greater writing for Kanami

I cannot find Band-Maid Onset on your channel. Have you not done it yet? Apart from the name thing, it is one of my favorite instrumentals. Despite being an instrumental it still has "standard" song structure, but overall feel is fantastic.
It may not look like it, but Domination was the 22nd out of 23 songs the Ladies performed for that concert. They were still full of energy, dancing around the stage and playing their instruments and singing as if they had just started. They are like that at all of their shows. And their average show last anywhere from around 1 and half hours to almost 3 hours, depending on the venue. Their Tokyo Garden Theater concert in January of this year was just under 3 hours. When I saw them in Houston earlier this year in May, the performance was a little over 2 hours, when you add in Omajinai Time, but over 90 minutes of music and they performed 20 songs with 3 MC sections and Omajinai Time. You really should check out a video of Omajinai Time. Each one is different, and all of them are very entertaining and "Adorable".

@@fernandoloya6325 So you know what I am talking about. It seemed like the show had just begin, and then it was over and my arms/shoulders and throat were sore as heck and I was wondering if there was more.
I read someone compare kanami with king crimson (72 - 74 specifically) a few days ago and my ears were opened - kanami has so much fripp underlying her style. Even how she has herself mixed back and her devotion to texture. Can't unhear it, especially the long alternate picking runs. Tony Levin enters the chat too.
There's a couple of unique videos of them on their channel. You know the "Maid" from their name is from the maid cafe costumes. In Japan "Maiko" is the name for Geisha, who are entertainers (serve tea, play music, tell stories, etc..). They did a couple of songs as Band-Maiko, dressed as Geisha. They play the usual instruments, but there are some traditional ones also mixed in. There's also a subtle running joke in them. The drummer is infamous for always being hungry. In the Band-Maiko videos, at one moment while the others are sipping tea, Kanami is scarfing down bowls of noodles.
There are two live versions of the song Smile that are acoustic and both are great. Unfortunately they are kind of hard to find. The acoustic version of Puzzle is simply amazing but again also hard to find.
for accoustic id recomend doing puzzle both full live and the accoustic in one video(if you cant find it someone in the community will supply the acoustic live version for you) so you can see the contrast.. still waiting for offset era react to onset bandmaid lol

"Domination" Live is the video you introduce to your friends by asking them, "Would you like to see the greatest live rock band currently on the planet?" I've been a Maidiac for about 2 years. I have noticed that Band-Maid songs get better with repeated listening. You hear MORE with every pass, these ladies have it figured out, perfected, nailed down, and have kept it as simple as possible, but not too simple.
Didn't realise you hadn't heard this one before! Ask 100 listeners what their best song is and you might get 100 different answers - no exaggeration - but this seems to be Band-Maid's favourite song in that it's the only one they play at every show (well, maybe also No God these days). Anyway, it's the most popular request for reactors. Loving your new music btw.
Read somewhere that the top 2 most played songs in concert are Alone, and Don't You Tell Me. Don't know the time frame but probably still up there. I do know the one live of Don't You Tell Me with MISA/Kanami trading lines is as good as it gets. Can't remember if it was Shinkiba or Zepp.
@@DAVID-io9nj Those two songs are older and Band-Maid were doing a huge number of live shows (more than 100 in one year) at that time, before Domination was written, so that's plausible. I would have expected to see Freedom in the top two though. Nevertheless, these days, Alone and Don't You Tell Me are songs they sometimes play but sometimes don't. I agree about that Kanami/Misa duel, and Akane's drumming in support of both of them is amazing.
Her name is pronounced like Psyche (Sigh-Key). What to do next? There can be only one. 'Real Existence' LIVE. That one will blow your socks off. Someday, soon, you will have to go to the Chinese site, Bilibili, and pull up the Zepp Tokyo LIVE concert. The 9th song in is 'Don't You Tell ME!' LIVE. It has the ultimate Call & Response "Battle" between Kanim and MISA. It is not to be missed, though getting a decent reaction video from it can be quite a challenge. BAND-MAID gets called Metal too, though they consider themselves Hard Rock, Metal is among their may influences.
Opps. Sorry, I don't always proofread as I should when in the heat of the moment. I usually have to edit a post more than once for all the typos, but that one got by me. Like that right there. I said, That on, and had to go back and put the E on the end of one. It's this laptop keyboard.
There's a video on the BM 4-Life channel titled "Sakura Con 2016 / Member intros" of the band on their first out-of-Japan concert in Seattle. No music but it has the members introducing themselves. It's short (2:55) but fun. Miku explains that "'Kobato' means 'small pigeon'." As far as I know, the first MI-SA MI-SA MI-SA chant, and a good example of how to pronounce "Saiki.".

Moratorium from their first full album also has metal-style breakdown and I like it more than Domination, but Saiki's vocal wasn't fully recovered from the polyp removal surgery and sound a bit raspy. Also if you haven't checked out "Why Why Why" yet, it showcases both vocals. The song starts with Miku's yell and they use Miku's vocal as "sound effect" as well as backing vocal. For Saiki it really shows her range, especially low range.
Having grown up in the Golden Age of Rock/Metal (the 80's), I can say without hesitation that the drummer, bassist, lead guitarist and even the singer would hole their own against the legends of Rock. Grateful that Japanese women are carrying the torch of Rock forward.

There's a very different side of Band-Maid that you haven't covered yet: their alternate incarnation as Band-Maiko. Their first performance as Band-Maiko was an April Fools Day stunt in which they claimed the band was going to go in a new direction, but the stunt was so popular that the band later did an additional performance as Band-Maiko. A Maiko (pronounced MY-koh) is an apprentice geisha, and Band-Maiko dresses like geishas rather than like maids, and the music they play has a more traditional Japanese sound. Their first Band-Maiko song was an adaptation of their previous Band-Maid song "Secret My Lips" that they called "Secret Maiko Lips". If you want to react to that song you should probably react to both at the same time ("Secret My Lips" first) so they can be compared. Or you could just react to their second Band-Maiko song called "Gion-cho". All three songs have official versions that can be found on the official Band-Maid RUclips channel.
With all these j-rock/metal bands you've been reacting to, I really hope you check out the bands that made all of this happen, Show-Ya and X Japan. The latter being the most popular rock/metal band ever in Japan. They also have a really tragic history, with the death of their lead guitarist hide less than 6 months after the show "the last live" (their last performance before disbanding a day later, with hide) Gene Simmons of KISS said that if they were born in US or UK, they'd be one of the biggest bands ever. There's really no bad song from either bands, but from X Japan, I really recommend Kurenai or Rusty Nail, from "the last live"
We are MAIDIACS!!! If you can find it, the acoustic version of PUZZLE is a real knockout. Only SAIKI and KANAMI doing the song. Then couple that with the live version with the whole band and you get BAND MAID's range of talent. BAND MAID doesn't ever waste time in a song. Domination was the 22nd out of 23 songs. During the break down watch this is slow motion. You will see MISA change from pick to slap back to pick.
What I've always liked about Band-Maid is that you can clearly hear EVERY instrument in the mix. They have excellent sound engineering.

I think you meant Akane.
@@paullow3377 oops... you are correct
Yes...Onset Era 👍😁
If you Guys have not done it , check Freedom Live from the same Concert. Great Drum Solo followed by an amazing Transition into a Guitar Solo.
Great that you got around to 'Domination' Now you need to check out 'Freedom' from the same concert for Akane's drum solo ! Enjoy !!
Awesome reaction Offset Era -one of my faves.
Bandmaid Just dropped a new single Shambles litterly just now and blew me away!! This could be the best single since domination & to do it right before Lollapalooza was brilliant!! 🤘🎸🔥
Dice was my first Band-Maid song but Domination Live turned me into a Maidiac =) Thanks Guys btw Band-Maid has a Pigeon Hole !
Yep no fox or rabbit thingies here :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 I'm Glad To See You Hope you are doing better =) I had to detox my kidneys ( Half Cup Water / Half Cup Cranberry Juice / Tablespoon Lemon Juice / Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar ) Daily for 2 weeks Yuck 😂
Always like to point out this was song 22 of 23 in their set that night
Good one guys. This was my intro to Band-Maid 17 months ago. The Miku - Kanami🥰guitarbattle still gives me goosebumps.
More acousics: No God, Smile, Catharsis, Forward
My favorites right now (constantly changing) Moratorium, Daydreaming
"Domination" Live is the video you introduce to your friends by asking them, "Would you like to see the greatest live rock band currently on the planet?"
I've been a Maidiac for about 2 years.
The entire 2018 Zepp Tokyo and the Christmas Acoustic concerts are on Band-Maid Prime. Support the band!
Her name is written Kanami
“Real Existence” live is a killer performance 🎭
Opps. Sorry, I don't always proofread as I should when in the heat of the moment. I usually have to edit a post more than once for all the typos, but that one got by me. Like that right there. I said, That on, and had to go back and put the E on the end of one. It's this laptop keyboard.
Waiting for the Onset Era 😁
The acoustic version of their song Puzzle is great 🤘😊🤘
There's a video on the BM 4-Life channel titled "Sakura Con 2016 / Member intros" of the band on their first out-of-Japan concert in Seattle. No music but it has the members introducing themselves. It's short (2:55) but fun. Miku explains that "'Kobato' means 'small pigeon'." As far as I know, the first MI-SA MI-SA MI-SA chant, and a good example of how to pronounce "Saiki.".
Sayonakidori acoustic is fantastic. Miku get her chance to really dhinebon lead vocal. If you have not already reacted to It 🤔 but this was a great reaction. Thank you 😁👍
My favorite Band-Maid song.
@@sugaanessena3143
A fantastic song. The original is so different from the acoustic but an excellent song 👍
This is a call to alms for the Masters and Princesses.
Band-Maid World Domination
And this was song 24 of 25.
It's called a pigeon hole just so you know this band is fantastic seen them last November hob Chicago and I can die peacefully now the greatest rock band on the planet the living legends known as band maid known as
Lollapalooza 2023 live is a must check.
The duo Misa-Kanami literally destroyed the stage.
Thank you for your reaction. As for acoustic I really love Catharsis and it made go back and listen again to the original which is fantastic. As far as I know there is no official MV for the original but if possible a comparing reaction, if posdible, of both versions is always interesting.Have fun! :)
The barefoot assassin is something to see live!! MISA is outstanding live! She can alternate from picking to slap in an instant! Kanami is so much fun to watch!! Fun fact, notice the band gathering around Akane, they make funny faces at her in hopes to making her go off beat, never works!! Go see them live it is a treat
and IIRC that song was 18 or so into the set..... to have that energy two hours in?

next: Band-Maiko - Gio-Cho. You guys will totally appreciate it
One of my top songs from these ladies, easily my favorite Saiki song.
Saiki can rap too , she can flow , she raps on some songs
The Holy Trinity of mine: The Warning, Band-Maid and Nightwish.
Greetings from the Nightwishland a.k.a Finland 🇫🇮
Having grown up in the Golden Age of Rock/Metal (the 80's), I can say without hesitation that the drummer, bassist, lead guitarist and even the singer would hole their own against the legends of Rock. Grateful that Japanese women are carrying the torch of Rock forward.
Thanks gents! Maybe try "Onset."
Hello guys and greetings from Fort Myers Fl!! I love your content guys specially my girls from The Warning ⚠️!! Love this girls ,but i wanted you guys to check out this great trio of guys from New Zealand 🇳🇿 their name is Alien weaponry and the song its calle katuman kaiku! Please check it out guys , song its in their native language ❤❤👽🤟
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Please do Rinne, you'll see the heavy metal side of the band
HOw about some darker or more agressive songs ? (Was thinking of "From now on", "Rinne" for examples... Good job guys.
Dang, y'all are just now watching this one?
With all these j-rock/metal bands you've been reacting to, I really hope you check out the bands that made all of this happen, Show-Ya and X Japan. The latter being the most popular rock/metal band ever in Japan. They also have a really tragic history, with the death of their lead guitarist hide less than 6 months after the show "the last live" (their last performance before disbanding a day later, with hide)
Gene Simmons of KISS said that if they were born in US or UK, they'd be one of the biggest bands ever.
😁
Next Awkard please😂
This is so fucking unreal. It seems like they are came out of the anime show.
"Freedom" Live for a proper drum solo...
Secret my lips, I dare u
Band-Maid, Lovebites their live shows sound are more better than studio....
Maybe you can react to this Gothic Japanese Duo: THE DEVIL’S KILLING MERRY-GO-ROUND『ディアボロス』
