I hope you are feeling better Christine
Wonderful tutorial on adding pockets to existing clothing!! Thanks for sharing. I learn so much from your videos.
Thanks Gloria😀
I'm still a bit confused as to the understitch but is it like top stitching from the back?
Kind of except the understitch is sewn through facing and interfacing which helps prevent neckline and facing from rolling forward. Top stitch is through all layers, but usually not necessary if understitched. Undersitching gives a more professional finish to your garment🙂
Thank you! I do a lot of pockets, but missed the understutch, wow, game changer!! Thank you.
Betty, I think undersitching is the best thing I've ever learned in sewing 😄
super video, thank you.
Thank you too
I have a knitted sweater that is not handmade. I love the sweater, I would love to put pockets on or in it. I don't know how to knit, I can crochet. But I was thinking more with the sewing machine and maybe fabric. Though about an old sweater to use for pockets on the outside . But I would really love to have inside pockets to slide my hands in, keys etc. There is a seam , but I am chicken to cut it in fear of it unraveling . Would you do this the same way as you did the dress or another way? I hate to crochet. :) Love to sew. Thank you for your time and your video's!
Hi Shannon, I think this is a good idea for another video. I wouldn't cut the seam open, rather, I'd undo the stitches carefully that are holding the seam together where you want to place the pockets. Then you can add the new pockets. You'd need to stabilise the pocket seam with cotton tape or ribbon too. Let me know if you would like a video😁
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Yes a video would be amazing!! I'm pretty sure I understood what you said, but a video to confirm would be great! Thank you :)
Just used this tutorial to put pockets into a friends dress. First time I tried it and - SUCCESS! Thanks for all the tips. I think the understitch is the key to a professional finish. ❤
Great job Bev. It's incredible how much difference understitching can make😁
Finally, I have found a pocket tutorial that is so clear and understandable. Thank you! You are an amazing and talented instructor.
You are so welcome! Thank you😁
In-seam, not inseam, but thank you for the tutorial! 😊
I stand corrected DL. I've Googled everywhere and it uses "inseam", yet all my sewing books have the correct grammar of in-seam😀
