Let me know if you guys have another testing methodology I could have used! **ALSO** The title could be misleading, I'm showing how much bandwidth/usage the mining software is using, and not the WHOLE mining rig in general because there are other processes that go on that take internet usage etc. etc...
Sorry, I'm a network geek LOL. PFSense running on a VM with a dual nic. One for internet in and one for internet out (to your switch) you can monitor network bandwidth on one of the tabs in the GUI. PFSense is super cool too because you can limit network bandwidth per device if lots of people come online putting a major load on the network.
Wow timing - I was just writing a script for a mining + internet video. But nothing as in depth as you man, cool that you took the time and did the actual experiment, not just repeating what is repeated over and over. Cheers man
excellent video. Thank you so very much for doing these tests, coz im trying to solve the inet connectivity in my home for optimal usage and this came really useful. Dont stop love your work.
those numbers are not even a small percentage of what i use per month, not on mining data ofc, but actual upload/download of files: doing 4.5TB+ month this only means that even with a low bandwidth connection, you are able to mine pretty safely
This counts were for each mine rig if you have a lot of mine machines then that may make a difference. Do you watch any online movies or services and are there any issues while the miners are running?
Red panda, i connected my rig with the ether port but its not online. The cat6 cable is working on my computer but when i connected to the rig, i cant get the rig online. Plse advise.
Hi, Can anyone help me? Howmuch of internet data is used for the CPU mining? I use my i3 7th gen laptop for CPU mining using this method. It can be minable but I have a small trouble. More data is used for CPU mining. It is about 8GB per 8 hours. Is it possible?? How can I reduce this data usage for CPU mining??
Why does CenturyLink mess with me then? I struggle mining so much. They reset my modem all the time and shut my rigs down! I had to run a VPN. Would take them a week or 2 to find me. Now it gets harder and harder. Huh!! I am about to move and go with Cox internet. Hopefully they leave me alone!
I have wanted to know this for awhile and I don't get it. 6mb a day! What are these GPU's doing using all this power to move 6mb a day? Normally you expect high power consumption to equal high capacities. I would expect these machines to move 6gb a day for the power they consume. So what's really going on to cause this? Are they really that inefficient?
Here's how you have to look at it: Your graphics card gets a complicated calculation task. The graphics card uses its VRAM memory for the solution with 100% utilization at non-stop speed. As soon as the task is solved, the result, which consists only of numbers and letters, is sent to the server and the graphics card directly receives the next task. The tasks and solutions hardly need any data bandwidth and are accordingly small.
Windows services on the background are the vilains, you didnt mention that, they consume a lot more than the mining apps I use HiveOs, and I'm sure it's much more efficient, not only talking about network usage, you shloud give it a try!
Luckily I didn't add up all those other services, just the mining software (process) only in terms of upload/download which was the main thing for this video :D
I have both rx 580 red devil 8gb and rx 590 powercolor red dragon. For mining the rx 590s are awesome in cooling do to the increased cooler size. Both have mich better cooling than the rx 570. The hashrate difference i see is rx 580 800-900hrte vs rx 590 1000hrte. The problem is cost factor in price the rx 580 is 30-50$ cheaper normally. Both are great choices though for long term.
Interesting 🤔, I would expect that it doesn't take much data cause it's nothing like video streaming or things with heavy files to transfer, but it's much lower than I expected, so no worries even with basic data plan you'll never use all your data by mining crytos 😅 Only a lot of electricity 😛
The size of the shares are way bigger I know when I mine zcoin my ping to the pool when I submitted share goes way higher that's because the amount of data you have to send is a quite a bit bigger
5 * might be a little stretch but I've heard at least two to three times and some people say could be like four to five times so I don't know I'm just curious if maybe you could test and we could all find out
Excited to see the results. These are the kinds of details that not a lot of people talk about. Thanks for doing this!
thanks man! fun times. Everyone give @Hash Raptor some SUB LOVE! ruclips.net/channel/UCFrU31cPW7yJYZjfdZuVshw
So in other words what you're saying is you could mine cryptocurrency on a cheap cell phone plan good to know
So basically, even capped mobile internet can power my whole mining rig?
@@DailyFlux i think so because the program is not complex. Just numbers.

aw thanks man! you should still do the video if u planned it! dont stop cuz of me!
@@RedPandaMining No worries of course I will =) have a good one mate!
the scale is 1024. 1 byte is 1024 bits, 1Kb is 1024 bytes and so on. NOT that a bigger deal on the math but still i had to mention it.
Thanks, I don’t wanna be getting 90000 ping while my other pc is mining

Thank you. So folks in remote locations using Sat Internet can do the same. Unless the delay time is a deciding factor.
Red Panda mining beast.
Great job.. Thanks for doing this!
Mining requires Faster and stable Connections to avoid invalid, stale, rejected shares, and low latency to the pool.
Bullshit, low latency only
AWESOME VIDEO! Very interesting! What is the Drivers to AMD RX580 4GB? And with BIOS or Stock?
Thanks Man
Love From India 🇮🇳
Everyone covers their power and cooling solutions but never bandwidth needs.
Thanks.
thanks for this, I was wondering
Thanks for information now i can mine on remote areas without broadband
Awesome video bro very interesting for sure

If we only use this, is there a problem mine over wifi? I tested the latency and is the same thing over wifi and over ethernet.
So with my 3Mb/512Kb DSL this will work! Thank you!!!
That is Why i am here too lol 😆 3 to 5 mbps here brother

awesome video... such a crazy day just now got to this....
I should have started mining back when we had dail-up. Would be rolling in it by now...
thank you very much for the information, very interesting
Thanks for the test
Wounderful bro
Cool info man
so today i am using near 1gb on a 3 gpu rig mining ethereum with trex miner is this normal now ? 2080s 2080ti and a 1080ti
Is there anywhere in hiveOS that shows the speed once connected to a pool?

I'm gonna assume HiveOS will be the same in terms of the mining software bandwidth alone.
Block them after win10 installation.
I can see if i can use pfsense to watch how much that hiveos rig will take!
@@RedPandaMining Nice!
I have a choice...
Red devil 580 8gb, or the red devil 590 8gb?

But which one Mr panda 🐼???
used or brand new? haha buy them used! red devil 580 8gb is damn nice!
590 Ive never tried before.

Yes i have to agree, yesterdays show with the hash rate on yours got me rather excited.

Actually, you do need at least gigabit speed when mining w multiple devices if you want to keep your shares.
how much bandwidth do you have for that?

Intresting
please address the actual speed in the right capital latters if necessary. Kb and KB are different
Try Zcoin the merkel tree pow is way higher than normal miners be interested to see how much more ive heard could be 5 times higher

Nicehash kills coins.
Why?
