This group have some wonderful songs. I'm particularly fond of Dúlamain. Of course, they're students, so there's some turn over in the group, but the excellence is consistent.
First heard this sung at a funeral near 40 years ago. Remembered some words but could not find the song until I heard this version when this group of singers released it. Took a bit to find, an instant to be reminded.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. The lyrics come from a poem written as a lament over a failed rebellion in the mid 18th Century but it often sung in a very inspirational way. The drum being played is called a bodhrán and it's probably my favorite instrument to play. Thank you for the reaction!
Nice 🙂 Unaccompanied Sean-nós ("in the old way") singing is a little bit special. There's something deeply poignant about a single voice filling the air - Róisín El Safty singing Eleanór a Rún for instance. Sean-nós singing stays close to my heart when playing slow airs on Irish flute.
