      Excellent, this is the actual verses, not what the person in this video recited. That recitation is totally inaccurate.

    • @Shyamazha
      @Shyamazha 3 года назад

      Abaahu (wide shouldered) purushaakaaram ( the one in the form of a person: representing Vishnu Bhagavan); Shankha ( conch) , chakra (the disc) dhaarenam (the one who wore/ possesses) : the one who has broad shoulders and has Shankam and Chakram in both his hands.

    I will never ever forget the very first time i heard opening mantra in my first Ashtanga class. I was very excited for my first Ashtanga lesson as everybody was saying it is not an easy thing. But when i was chanting i started to smile and that was like someone pouring a kind of waterish, fairy tailish sparkling dust upon my head. And in the end i was full with energy

    Just want to say how very much I like this rendition. It is because it is being sung with a beautiful rhythm rather than recited as lifeless prose.
    Some people have criticized the pronunciations. But it sounds so very beautiful and for me is the way I wish to learn.

    Hearing the first time. Man, it’s difficult. But looks like it gets easier eventually like everything else you keep working on. Can’t wait to come back later when I can sing it out loud just as smoothly as you do. Thank you for the inspiration! 😊 🙏🏽

    Wow, it all started with me looking for calm music to accompany my supper and a glass of wine after a long day of working. I went from nature yoga music, to yoga lessons in the nature and then finally this beautiful mesmerizing mantra. Now I'm on replay, chanting along with you and feeling blissful, thank you!

    Pranamami pathaanjalim : here refers to Pathaanjali as such Guru who is through his yoga representing and has become a representation of none other than God through his Yoga Shakthi. It also represents that Shiva and Shakthi have this intertwined in that representation of yogic energy.

    Sahasrara ( the crown Chakra among the 7 chakras) sirathaaam ( upon the head) Shwetam (here the meaning can be ‘White’ which means it is the union of the 7 colors, or the 7 points of energies at the crown chakra; it can also mean, which I believe the foremost, to be ‘true wisdom/ Aathma Gnyanam). Gnyana devatha/ goddess is Saraswathi devi who is thus depicted in White.

    Actually, it's not all Shakara's staff. The first 2 lines are from the Yogataravali. But the other ones are not. The original yogataravali says: "There are in the world 125.000 absorptions spoken of by Shiva. We regard ONLY samadhi on the Nada to be the worthiest". And then it goes on praising the meditation on the Nada, i.e. the anahata sound. Pretty much like tibetan yoga inner tantra meditation.

    Vande Gurunam Charanarvinde= I bow to the Gurus feet which are like lotus
    Sandarshitswatmasukhavbodhe= Who show us our true self and awaken the happiness (within us) ; the one who can show you the true peaceful athma that you really are.
    Nishreyase Janglikaymane= who upon thinking of bestows good upon us, the one who is like a mani= gem / Pearl.
    Samsaara = cycle of existence
    Haaalahala ( it is not halahala) = deadly poison
    Moaha =means an illusion
    shantaye= will subside the anguish to provide peace.
    Samsaara Haala hala moaha shaanthye: This stance means: He is the one who can pacify and ease you out of this poisonous bonds of illusion of samsaara.
    The illusion is that we are the real person representing relationships with things and people and this physical world where as we are pure souls, energy bodies taking up the shape of the cup we are poured into. But the mind learns patterns quickly through observations, experiences and belief systems rather than passing through time imparting from within, we collect from out and engrave something into realities, that are not always real but relative.

      Translation by Tim Miller
      I respectfully bow to the lotus feet of my teacher, who teaches the knowledge of the Self that awakens us to great happiness, who is the Jungle Physician and dispeller of the poison of conditioned existence. Taking the form of a man up to the hands, holding a conch, a discus, and a sword and having a thousand heads of white light, Patanjali, I bow to you.
