As campy as this movie might be, his saying "Hi, I'm Chucky, wanna play?" right after the reveal that the batteries were never installed was genuinely creepy.

I have watched this with people who are terrified of dolls and can confirm that even they were immediately less terrified of Chucky once he started swearing and yelling. I find his first evil lines in the doll to be hilarious, but even on a technical level his more evil form has more expression and movement, which definitely makes him less uncanny. The dolls dead-eyed stare and barely moving mouth really adds to the creep factor and a lot of the time is the main source of the fear.

I wish they released the 2 hour cut. One can find pictures of the deleted scenes online, which include the extended opening where Chris Sarandon's Officer Mike is dressed in drag and tries luring Charles into an alley only for him to run away. In the theatrical cut that explain's Mike's weird outfit and why he tossed away clothing while chasing Charles. His childhood best friend Steve had an even better thing in the form of one of those old-school "atomic" science kits that could be used to make stink bombs and small explosives. Plus everyone my dad's age and even when I was a kid had bows and arrows, both toy and real. As a child, at the height of this series, everybody used to joke to little kids that Chucky is behind them and he's going to get them at night. I don't know if kids today, would be scared being told that a creepy doll named Chucky is behind them.
This movie traumatised me as a child , to this day the scene with Chucky under the bed slitting the leg makes me cautious whenever i sit on a bed . The fact that my elder brother taped a knife on one my doll's hands and started yelling that the doll was alive and out to kill me didn't help much either getting past my fear of this movie .
The first kill with the baby sitter flying out the window is hilarious. You can barely blame chucky for that one, he hit her with a toy hammer and somehow that sent her falling back and flying out the window that: 1. Was a good distance from where she got hit; and, 2. Wasn’t made from the type of glass most household windows are made of, which wouldn’t shatter with that little force. And on top of that when she’s falling, she comes out of the window in the opposite direction she fell out.

Lake Shore Drive, The Loop, Portillo’s, Da Bears and Chucky. I love Chicago
Good ol' childhood trauma, their is none so bad that an elder brother can't make it worse.
That didn't happen in this movie...
That never happened in child's play
1:18 The ‘My Buddy’ doll looks like a cross between Chucky and Andy
Very enjoyable. I would love to see reviews for the rest of the series in the future.

Instantly added to my watchlist of Snob horror movies. Is it weird I listen to them while I fall asleep? Lol
