My darling brother!!!! Long time! I’m very happy to see you healthy and hear your same voice 💕 Tiamiyu Ayan o ba filu simi ni badi ki fi si fun e 🤣🤣🤣 Sunny ti e de oo Love you 😍 my darling brother!!!!
Haaaaaaa Kabiyesi Olodumare, great salute to Alhaji Tiamiyu, this is an iconic drummer that makes KSA dance like never. His drumming for KSA's live shows make people go crazy. There is one drum talk that can never be forgotten , ""O doni woro to woro, o doni woro ti woro, oku aja ki igbo ki igbo, oku agbo ki i kan , irawe to fo'ju dod o a segbe, o doni woro ti woro"". May the soul of my late Uncle rest in peace, when he plays KSA's music on his SONY 1000 watts stereo system in those days, he will tell anyone around him, and always comment on the drum talk of Alhaji Tiamiyu after his own interpretation, which I also see as a great talent because only very few people can interpret what great talking drummers beat. Kabiyesi Alhaji Tiamiyu. Great appreciation to the presenter also, finally the social media has yielded another advantage.
I remember him vividly in Sunny Ade's albums when i was growing up. He was very young, good looking then and always smiling. May God give you good health sir
The original line up broke up during the 1984 Japanese tour. The band members were extremely disappointed at the lack of success and world wide recognition which did not occur. So all the band members settled their differences in the hotel room during the tour which is why the ninteen year venture came to an abrupt end when everyone returned to Nigeria. During the interview, King Sunny Ade said the whole event was a disgrace which had been designed to hold him to ransom. I know that you cannot expect all communications to be done in English. But i was wondering if someone could give a rough summary of the interview, for all the none Yoruba speaking fans who also share the same interest surrounding this man. 👍👍👍👍👍
Lack of success? No sir. The band tore up any concert hall the world over. The band was the biggest band in Africa at the time. The mutiny from the band boys was to ask for pay rise and KSA dint give in to their demands. KSA insisted that they continue touring and pleaded and ask that they returned to U.K but they refused. KSA was left with no choice than to disband the group.
@@Zendaya63 When Bob Marley passed away, Island records looked world wide for a successor to replace him. The only two people who came close, was King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey and possible Fela Kuti. To be honest, KSA was an unwise choice for a successor to Bob Marley, because you are dealing with two very different people, who come from two very different backgrounds, who have two very different outlooks. Bob Marley was the rebel conqueror, while KSA is the traditionalist who sung in Yoruba, which was going to be a major stumbling block for him. Island records dropped KSA because all three album releases sold under twenty thousand copies. KSA, like many other African musicians wanted to achieve record sales in the millions. As well as mainstream radio airplay in the west. The fact that KSA was able to get a major foot hold into a major western institution like Island records was nothing short of a miracle. And when you get dropped like that, who wouldn't be disappointed.
@@juliusuzutunda My honorable Mr. Uzu , KSA may not have sold tons of records at the time, but sold a lot of concerts tickets. He was the biggest thing out of Africa at the time. A lot of what you hold on to are pure "old wives tales" at the least. Facts must be told before fiction. Here it is; he wasn't selling records in the millions, and yet he managed to chart on the billboard. He did not sell tons of records, yet he got a Grammy nod. The Juju Music Album was considered as one of the biggest album of 1982, the year Michael Jackson's THRILLER was released. Don't mix up things here sir. Granted he wasn't selling IN THE MILLIONS, just as Fela who was at the time signed by Arista Records was also not selling; don't you think perhaps his record label wasn't doing enough in terms of promotion. or perhaps due to culture shock!1 The sound was alien to many Europeans and Americans but only danceable and funky. Your argument is rather insipid and laughable at the same time sir.. How has low records sales the business of Band boys sir? Low sales or not. Once you keep touring then you need to pay more. The crux of our discourse here is that the band broke up simply because they wanted more. This happened to a lot of African band leaders at the time including Fela, Manu Dibango etal. KSA'S band breaking up had nothing to do with sales my brother. If you must know sir, KSA's manager at the time said KSA had to be cut loose because he balked at the idea of ISLAND RECORDS meddling with his sounds. They wanted him to sound more European and American. Yet, no music Video was cut to back up sales. KSA's music survived only via Concerts and more concerts and little radio play because his songs are too long and not radio friendly in the western market. STEVIE WONDER was one of the very first converts of the power of KSA'S concerts and begged to appear as a guest artist on his third Album AURA. A gesture STEVIE WONDER always extended to bands coming into the states. -(THIRD WORLD BAND) Respectfully sir, it is a very uncharitable statement that KSA was an unwise decision to replace Marley. This is laughable again.. Who else could? KSA, was the biggest thing in Nigeria from the late seventies and outsold everyone because what he was cooking at the time was surreal! Martin Messionner; Fela's Manager recomended KSA to Island. If ISLAND RECORDS took risk with MARLEY why not KSA. Please dont compare the sounds. i.e. Reggea and Juju Music, because they can and will never be the same. It was indeed a miracle that KSA garnered all those accolades at the time with all the odds against him. However, One thing you cannot take away from KSA is his prodigiousness. he remains a GOD of music.
@@Zendaya63 I think you may have misunderstood what i was saying. I am viewing this event from the point of view of the global western music industry, who are in the business of shifting units. I have lost count of the number of times African musicians were complaining, big, big, big, big time about how the west refused to acknowledge them. While everyone through out the Africa consumed western music without complaint, the same type of respect had not been awarded to them. KSA was the only African musician to be signed to a major western record label to be given the type of promotion only allocated to white artists. Band members were clearly disappointed because they thought they were going to achieve a once in a life time opportunity to make it big just like their western counterparts. Which unfortunately for them this did not happen. One or two band members stated that it was KSA who changed the sound of the third album, because he was unhappy with the lack of progress he was making. And it was Island records who arranged for Stevie Wonder to appear on that album for marketing purposes, hoping it would help to increase sales. I have done my research over the years. And the one thing I am not in the business of doing is telling old wives tales.😊😊😊😊😊😊
I so much like Alhaji Timmy. I know him very well in Mushin. I still remember his red coloured Mercedes Benz 230.4. But only God can settle the rift between him and KSA. Late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister tried his best to no avail. The Japan tour of 1983 caused the rift.
@@NigbatiTV Best all round talking drummer of all time . Period! The influence of Tiamiyu on the Band was so powerful that he led a mutiny against KSA over fights with regards to remuneration ...They demanded that KSA gave them higher percentages over tour contracts ( whether tours were for charities, cultural exchanges, commercial or not) Sunny had to cut the band loose for fear that something else that could be more deadly might be unraveling !!! This is too poor and too short for a personality such as Tiamiyu, you need at least an hour of interview. You also must interview Bob Aladeniyi, Sarafa Bello, the guy that plays Sekere. I told you earlier to be more professional based on the caliber of people that comes to your program. Stop talking for the interviewee. Simply said, tell us about Sabarumo, solo gbo'ni? e.t.c. Your intentions are good but try and get some crash program on how to interview people, You can get free training on RUclips.
