Maybe the carpet is supposed to be folded over on top of strip and cover it up ? slip the carpet under , hammer it down and then fold it over and glue maybe. ?
I bolted the channels to the floor loosely while the body was lifted on jack stands. Then I could align the body to the main mounting points and move the channels around to fit. If they don't line up (some aftermarket pan and channel combos won't along with aftermarket channel and OG pan and vice versa) you can always make the pan hole slightly bigger by grinding it with a dremel.
I would suggest it or at least doing it at the same time. Aftermarket pans and channels don't often fit together well, so you may have to enlarge the pan holes.I suggest putting the pan in then bolting the channel to it loosely to get the full range of movement you can without having to mess with anything and going from there.
It depends, if the inner tube is good and only small sections are rotted they can be repaired. I myself would nominate to replace them if there is any question and it's in the budget. That way you know the inside is clean and new.
That’s fair, but it’s a bit different for all of them. Some need to be torched out, some just drill the spot welds, etc. These ones got the spot welds cut and then the solid welds at the pillars needed to be cut too.
great watching you progress in your skills and video production...good stuff.
Nice Job. Very detailed instructions.
Thank you!
lots of progress made !!! nice
You may want to adjust your welders settings. You need to penetrate! Love the channel btw
nice one some good ads for the diy guys trying to figure this out. I will be doing another one pretty soon when my 60 is ready to be done.
parabéns ficou muito bom!!!
¡muchas gracias!
So if you had a later post 69- beetle say a 71 1200 😅 would those carpet rails be accurate or not ?
Awesome

That's how it's done on the later cars, mid '69 on, but prior to that, the strip is flipped and the carpet doesn't get folded over.
@@DubWerks Ok thanks for the clarification
How’d you make sure that all of the holes line up on the floor pans and heater channels?

Thanks!
Do you have to put in the new pan before the heater channel? I have to replace both on the passenger side on my 1970 bug

How do I know if I need to repair the channels vs replace them?

Seam sealer?
Yeah, I put it on after. The stuff in a caulking tube or brushable will work.
Bit of a waste of time ,,,,showing how you get them out would have been a hell of a lot more useful

😁✌🖖👌 👍 😎
Oof those welds 🤮
Yeah they’re bad, went through and fixed them all.
