The solo dining booths allow each person to fully immerse themselves in the experience and enjoy the flavor of the food itself without any outside distractions. In some instances, I'd rather go to a place like this during lunchtime instead of a crowded restaurant where you have to listen to annoying loud conversations from ppl sitting next to you. This is a relaxing, yet introverted dining respite. What a fantastic idea!

yeah but on the other hand social interactions are good for development of a persons personality. I find Japan sometimes to be unhealthy in this aspect. Because i cant find the reason for 0 eye contact or even speak to them.I have also seen that in other establishments. I think Japan is a perfect country for introverted people but sometimes they take it too far in my opinion of course.

The reason why you feel this way is that you mostly visited these tourist spots. While in these more remote regions, people are as nice and socialising as everywhere else towards their customers, especially the locals. Japanese got poor english and you don't need to wonder why they don't seem to be interactive in tourist spots. You can see how the printed materials in Ichiran in this video are printed in english to server tourists. Don't make stories with your ignorance

Looks almost identical to the booths you sit at when doing food testing at the Oregon State University food research center here in Portland. You never see anything but the hands and arms as they put the food in front of you. Then you use a terminal and answer responses about the food quality etc. Only difference is they have a sliding door instead.

    So, some quick questions:
What is happens if you place the “it’s noisy” helping block on the table? Are they able to move you to a different location or … ?
Is social anxiety a major concern there and is it possibly due to the very-close proximity people live in with each other?
Are long lines or wait times normal for most restaurants, or is this more the case with popular or tourist locations?
    Thank you in-advance. 🫶
PS: Please, anyone who has knowledge or experience about what I’ve asked, feel free to reply. I am curious to know. 😊

i think it less social anxiety, more "personal space" and the little bit of peace of mind that comes with. you don't have to see, or get splashed by anyone else eating messy noodles, even if maybe you can still hear them a fair bit,

I get so anxious talking to people I don't know (yet I'm so talkative around well known friends and family and my boyfriend so no one would dream I'm like it)... I stumble and get afraid to ask.
