By far the most disgusting thing is "and then he sold the freezer". Someone in Arizona has a full-size freezer filled with their food, and the freezer was used for months/years to hold dead bodies.
Oh, thats nothing to worry about, the whole freezer was sterilized, thouroughlly cleaned. The moral compass of his industry, this professional surely completed the standard medical field hospital sanitation procedures, right?
You beat me to it! As soon as I heard about "toilet paper" and "bears" in the same line of thought, those dumb bear commercials popped into my head, too. 🙂
"People donated their bodies for research, but when this guy and his organization couldn't afford to store or hold the bodies any longer, he decided to scatter the remains instead of returning them to the families or another organization. Why did they separate the bodies instead of handling them with care and respect?" what was the bomb about too?!
@@LaciRae id bet he had relations with some of the bodies and caught some dizease they were supposed to be screened for....why would he otherwise be so passionate about it
He clearly didn’t want to “spread awareness” … he dreamed that up as an excuse when caught. Just look at his reaction to the first officers who approached him. A whistle blower who wanted “a platform” would say “I sure did, I expected you to come by, just let me tell you why…”. Instead, he was like “Questions? No. I want a lawyer. Bye.” And it’s also a huge myth that bodies or parts are a huge health hazard. In reality, they are far LESS likely to transmit an infectious disease than a living human, and plenty of those around. He was just some old weirdo who should have never have been allowed access a donated body.
This is bizarre. So he wanted to be a whistle blower and be a 'good' moral compass, so he decides to dump a bunch of body parts in the woods? How does that accomplish anything?
@@sharp14x yea he was basically chattering gibberish in that interview about whistle blowing. I think they let him talk in case he revealed some crucial evidence or motive, but honestly it had zero relevance.
Not necessarily...I mean it's a charge, yeah, 100%, however the source of infection is relatively non-existent...Depends how long they've been dead....once the human body is dead, most diseases/viruses/bacteria die off with it, really, only Hep C can last for 6 weeks, depending on the temp(between 4 - 71 degrees F)...the temps in the desert and no living host would kill it quicker. I deal with dead humans on the regular, and they're they're actually the safest when they've been dead for a day or longer...
better not check off on box for donation during time of death in hospital that they give option during driver license renew...or voter registration card...they are folks have no good intention of your body after you died ...donating to science is very UNKNOWN GRAY AREA where your tissues end up in...i make sure i have entire body in cryo stasis
imagine you buy a freezer from a guy, get a great deal, and store food for your family in it. then one day you wake up and while you're drinking your coffee you come across a post by your favorite content creator on RUclips... only to soon realize you recognize Walt as the guy you bought the freezer from and are sitting 10 feet from something that was used in such a disturbing way.
There needs to be more told about this story. They didn't follow up about the pipe bomb, the serial killer book, the 'moral compass', or the whistle blower claim.
My guess is that he's a "wannabe" in a sense. He either doesn't have the balls or mental illness required to actually be a serial killer. So this was his way of role-playing it, with the added "benefit" of claiming he was doing something morally correct to call out his "industry." People convince themselves of weirder shit every day.
The whistle blower claim is nonsense. Just look at his reaction to the initial officers who approached him. A “whistle blower” who did it for “a platform” would say “yeah, I was expecting you, I did it but let’s sit down because I need to tell people why…” Instead, he was visibly irritated and just said “not answering any questions, I want a lawyer, done.” And it’s a widespread myth that dead bodies are a big health hazard. In reality, a dead body is much, much LESS likely to transmit an infectious disease than a living human. Bodies should obviously be treated properly out of respect and public decency, but it’s nonsense that they are some huge health threat compared to the millions of living humans walking around. He is just some old weirdo who should never have had access to a donated body. He likely just didn’t want to pay the cost or do the paperwork of treating them appropriately.
Let's not forget, Walter wrote a book called "Serial Killer." The psychopath always tells you who they are. Perhaps he is really a serial killer disguised as a businessman in the body broker industry.

His sentence is a joke!! He desecrated all those donated bodies and left them lying around like garbage, and he only gets a 6 year sentence? I think there's way more to this story than we're being told about... I'm an organ donor, but I'd never donate my body. Especially after hearing that these companies turn around and SELL them to make a living. That seems completely unethical to me... I wonder if the victims were ever identified, or if their families were notified??
I am not an organ donor because I know how wasteful the medical research industry is with donated bodies. There is an abundance of donated cadavers, which remains are not treated with respect and typically go to waste.
I used to be an organ donor, but then switched it to no. There’s shady doctors and your organs are worth a lot. A Law & Order episode changed my mind lol
6 year sentence is a bit excessive because after all, dead bodies don't have human rights anymore. He should've gotten the same sentence as if he had improperly dumped animal carcasses, like from a slaughterhouse.
he was worried about his industry's lack of care concerning potential diseases harbored by decomposing bodies, and so he figured he'd just take about 50 of them and throw them in the desert.
When the female officer hypothesized about it being a bear, too bad the male officer missed the opportunity to quip, "I'm afraid we've got something more grisly than a bear..." I'll just see myself out.
In the beginning when the male officer mentioned an arm and a leg while on the phone, my immediate thought was, 'when someone says "it'll cost an arm and a leg" it's not supposed to be literal.' My mind is fcked sometimes hahah
Bc he killed then and packaged them as such and no crematorium or school would take them without the proper documentation 👉they’re literally letting a serial killer go
Disposal wasn’t his problem, he wanted to have these found, he wanted this to blow up and give him some standing ground so he could voice his concerns.
@@pasttense69I went to the comments hoping to find an answer but here we all are equally confused 😂 I genuinely don't understand his rationale behind any of it. How he's the moral compass, what was he trying to "expose" because he just says the bodies weren't tested properly, etc etc. Basket case of a story that I can't comprehend
@@Slyfoxx The best I can figure, what probably happened is this: He ran a company that handled donated bodies. This industry can be kind of shady. He goes out of business, and has a bunch of dead bodies and doesn't know what to do with them. So, he just chucks them out in the wild and hopes nature will take care of them. There's no defense for that, so the best thing he's come up with is, "I did it on purpose as a stunt to get attention for my cause. The cadaver industry won't listen to my concerns about properly testing cadavers for diseases, so I had to take drastic action (leaving dead bodies all over the county). Now that I have everybody's attention, people will listen to me." It's nonsense, obviously. It's like a 10 year old latching onto the very first lie they can think of and hanging on for dear life.
I have 5 skulls, 2 right arms, plus shoulders, 3 left arms plus shoulders, geez what a conversation. Im sure she never fathomed that one day she would state a sentence that list body parts like a shopping list or doing inventory check, horrendous. 🤯
It actually is. Have you heard of the human chop shop where the police found buckets full of severed heads, genitals, and they had random body parts nailed to the walls? This industry is beyond fucked up, I can't believe it hasn't been shut down entirely. These people are legitimately chopping up bodies with reciprocating saws and selling them to whoever is willing to pay for them.
He isn’t…he is just the few bad actors that get into any business or institution, and isn’t even a whistle-blower. Just look at the way he reacted to the first police. He didn’t say “yeah, I was expecting you, but I need to tell you why I did it…”. He just reacted with irritation and “no questions, want lawyer.” I took human anatomy classes with cadaver dissection (pre-med and med school) and in both places the donor bodies were treated with huge respect and gratitude. There was a long list of rules, such as only dissecting a couple areas in depth per body, and never fully detaching any part/ leave a bit of tissue so that the person could be cremated or buried whole after, with no risk of an arm being switched, or keeping the body covered decently where not dissected. The med students even thanked the donors out loud at the last lab, and there was a mass for the donors if they wanted. That is the norm….and this guy should just have never been allowed access to donated bodies.
@@crlclssicyeah but more often than not, true crime channels will all recycle videos about the same cases. So yeah there are LOADS of cases we haven’t heard about, obviously…. but not many content creators want to/are capable of doing the work it takes to create original content (researching case files, finding ones interesting enough, etc etc etc) so this person was simply praising this channel for making that effort!!!❤
look up "biological resource center" of Phoenix Az, it was also doing crap like this to donated bodies. the place was shut down and is now being sued by families.
Read the book "Body Brokers." Most of the bodies are illegally obtained. There aren't enough "donors" to supply all of the Universities, Military, Medical testing of the latest and greatest tools ie: saws and scalpels etc. There isn't enough bodies for Dentists (need jaw bones or heads) Read the book. Shortly after I read it a huge ring was busted in Miami Florida. There was a 4 page spread in USA Today. It gave the hefty prices for heads, arms, legs, torso's etc.
"But at the time, in 2013, Stauffer didn’t know that the ashes he received were just from his mother’s hand. He didn’t know, as Reuters would later discover, that the rest of her body had been shipped to the Army for a Pentagon experiment - to be used as a test dummy in an IED blast. “She was then supposedly strapped in a chair on some sort of apparatus,” Stauffer told KNXV in July, “and a detonation took place underneath her to basically get an idea of what the human body goes through when a vehicle is hit by an IED.”"

I think his point was that the cadaver program was shipping bodies all over the world without checking the cadavers for any blood born pathogens. But the way he went about calling attention to what he thought was a problem was not the way to do it. Of course if it were really a problem, I pretty sure we would have heard about people getting diseases from exposure to the cadavers. And what about morticians? Has anyone seen any evidence that they are more prone to catch diseases? He said that he wrote a paper exposing the dangers, but nothing was done. Maybe he was butt hurt because the people in his "industry" wouldn't take his warnings seriously. And the pipe bomb suggests that if scattering the body parts around and getting arrested for it didn't give him the platform he wanted, he would use the b to blow something up in order to get the attention that he craved.
There is probably zero evidence he even tried to contact people that can actually do anything about this. "Unsafe for me to do so" is a very easy thing to claim.

For those who are changing their minds about donating their bodies to science, you can still do that if you have a specific place in mind. My cousin and husband donated their bodies to Wake Forest School of Medicine in their local area.
Why? I'm sure their families paid their respects. We kill millions of animals daily...what is the difference? Life is life. Humans aren't so special...
he's trying to either destroy a building or destroy large amount of bodies to save time chopping them one by one, 30k human parts, how can you dump it all except making them in smaller pieces.
I'm more curious as to why he didn't pick up charges for that. A kid was arrested for "manufacturing explosives" when all he did was tapped a bunch of fireworks together.
It's an industry with its legitimate uses - most of the cadavers are used for research and training purposes - that's been around since at least the mid-19th century. But it's also extremely poorly regulated and policed, and has been for about as long as its been around.
I watch a lot of these, and I'm honestly really impressed with the female officer's professionalism, she knows how to handle this situation and is doing everything she can to solve this appropriately. Very impressed.

Unfortunately the cadaver system in this country is pretty sketchy all around. If you or a family member want to donate remains for medical/scientific research, pick a specific institution you want it sent to. Research the place thoroughly to see if they have had scandals or issues. Pick one you can trust and make sure it is specified clearly in your will. Otherwise the remains could end up just about anywhere from weird roadside "museums" to ebay, or I guess thrown into the desert by a bankrupt company president. There have also been cases of cadavers being publicly autopsied by unscrupulous people for entertainment purposes. So do your research and pick a reputable medical school or research institute. I took human anatomy classes with cadaver dissection (pre-med and med school) and in both places the donor bodies were treated with huge respect and gratitude.

Out of all this weirdness "he sold the freezer" was the line that made me quiver. Is that freezer now storing someone's food?
That's a disturbing thought...
Someone commented above that they bought the freezer. Who knows. Absolute puke.
Right, and him saying he is worried about industry not doing blood tests on donated bodies because of disease they might carry.
how is that different from regular animal meats? lol
Same here. Also, I want to know more about his bomb. What was he planning with that?
His "Why" is ridiculous. Have them cremated if your concerned about bio hazards. Plus that would be the dignified thing to do
I think his point was that the cadaver program was shipping bodies all over the world without checking the cadavers for any blood born pathogens.
@@mikeswanson6145 he is dangerously deluded and/or pretending to be.

The flammable powder part could mean anything. Could have been a jar of flour. Could have just been police paranoia since it wasn't mentioned again
I've known people that used them for exactly that. There's a reason its a law you can't, because people have and do.
I'm more curious as to why he didn't pick up charges for that. A kid was arrested for "manufacturing explosives" when all he did was tapped a bunch of fireworks together.
